I love this show. It’s terrible but I love it.

I’ve read the novel and I find the novel didn’t really have much drama. It was pretty straightforward. Novel kawi was too accepting. Kawi returned to the future while getting f*cked and he didn’t even have an existential crisis.

As to your second point, I agree. I too don’t think he truly likes her now. Pearmai is just a 10+ year obsession but unfortunately kawi has not realized that yet.

Kawi is childish because he never really grew up, he only grew older. Kawi has been stuck in the past long before he had the chance to travel back in time. 30 year old kawi and college aged kawi are essentially the same: no lover, no real friends, no money, struggling to survive, living in the same place, crushing on pearmai and only existing. The only difference is that 30 year old kawi somehow managed to convince himself that his life would have been different if he had confessed (gave the music ball) to pearmai. Mentally and emotionally, 30 year old kawi is still his old college aged self. Unfortunately for us and for pisaeng, his (kawi) college aged self was too insecure and too self involved.

Pisaeng will for sure suffer until Kawi figures himself out. I mean Pisaeng can drop kawi like he dropped Not but when Pisaeng said ‘Next time, just tell me honestly’ after Kawi told him he felt unsafe, I don’t think Pisaeng will drop Kawi anytime soon. Pisaeng really said ‘next time’! Dude was so hurt and angry but somehow he still wants a ‘next time’.

I don’t think he himself knows at this point lol In Ep 3, the number one on his list is only to hit on pearmai, he didn’t even list that he wanted pearmai to become his girlfriend! Like dude please spell out what you really want!

I’ve watched this series every year and I’ve never skipped any scenes at all. Highly recommend.

I don’t know myself but whenever I see him I just want to pamper him. I’ve been a fan since yunxi came out. I’ve seen all his dream team episodes, seen NIF, seen EWTMY where he was half naked a lot lol, I’ve seen his bulging muscles long before he lost weight for the zzs role and I find him manly myself but somehow my brain only grasp the delicateness of his facial features and got stuck there.

Now that everyone calls him laopo, i feel validated. Lmao

The novel in which Word of Honor is based on was written on 2010 while the The Untamed source novel was written in 2015 so there’s that.
But if you mean the sects fighting over a scroll, medallion, key etc which may give them immortality, vast powers etc. that’s pretty much the plot in most wuxia dramas. So nothing new.
Good sects being not really entirely good while the evil sects are not always bad is also a common trope. I think those are where they both share similarities.
However, the two main characters in WOH are vastly different from those in TU. As a consequence, their love stories are different.

On Twitter before WOH, it was not rare to only find 1 or 2 tweets about him in a day and most were golf related. I remember an hourly zzh account that became a daily to then post maybe once a week to nothing. lol.

What I find funny is that I’ve always called him wife long before he became everyone’s laopo. Most know him for being macho but when I first saw him in Yunxi I thought, ‘If I were a guy, i’ll make him my wife.’ His sharp and hard lines coupled with delicate features is as would shl!wkx would say ‘perfect’.

Unfortunately zzh was held hostage in behai(?) and wasn’t really that much visible during the show’s airing. I’m forever grateful to gj for never failing to mention zzh in his solo activities during the same period. Plus there was that time when he was always called laopo instead of his name lol

My Heroic Husband was made by the same company who made Joy of Life, so there was great interest from the start plus the series is good in general if what I read about it is true. It was one of the first domestic hits this year.
However WOH has done great. For a show which didn’t really begin promotions until a month after it first aired and only when all eps have been released, achieving 5th place is beyond expectations.

Totally a priest move. Makes you love a character then bam. Their death senseless but also makes a lot of sense.
