The elderly Park Young Han is played by the actor who originated the beloved Park Young Han character from the show, Chief Inspector, that this prequel show is based on. The showrunners wanted to pay homage to the actor and character so they had him in the first few minutes for fans of the original series. To show the passing of the baton of the Park Young Han character to Lee Je Hoon, they had Lee Je Hoon play the grandson of Park Young Han in the beginning, who is now a police officer like his grandfather.
