Edit: 6/25 - I have been going back through the index of scenes with the lead couple, to correct any errors. I have spotted a few. - I often watched and made notes for 3 episodes at a time, then typed them in to them into the computers. I could not always read my own handwriting. lol. .... And as an extra resource: An index of every scene that involves both Lu Yi and Jin Xia, with times. Each scene has a short description to help those looking for a particular scene. To find this, go to the episode Summary in the Episode guide, then scroll down to look for a post with the heading " Want to find the Special Scene?" It is my first time writing summaries and the guide to help find the lead couple's scenes. I hope someone finds these useful. I would love to hear some feed back.
wow. You stopped on ep 20? what? Imo, some of the best episodes are 21, 22, 23, 24, 25... for reasons. Xie Xiao…
Agree that separately, both characters deliver. The problem is that, I believe they used it for filler. Rather than mess with the main couple's story, they allowed the Yang Yue and Shangguan Xi to progress too quickly and then later, became repetitive. They played out the same conversations (essentially) twice. They fell together twice. They had the same "big boss" fight (essentially) twice. I 100% think they could have put a little more effort in, let them develop a friendship, before Yang Yue became so smitten, it could have been saved. It might have changed the dynamic, but another possibility would have been for him to be attracted to her, but have a preexisting crush on Jin Xia that he had to get over, before he started stalking Shangguan Xi. Or maybe a previous broken engagement, of his own... that would have been a bond and a reason he didn't move forward, so soon, but still allow them to have some on screen time together. I would have much rather seen them eating and drinking together with no real point, than to see her be kidnapped over and over by the same guy and with essentially the same type of escapes.
I'm on episode 20 and I'm really struggling to finish this, I keep watching hoping that it will get better but…
wow. You stopped on ep 20? what? Imo, some of the best episodes are 21, 22, 23, 24, 25... for reasons. Xie Xiao is definitely annoying and The Shanguan/Da Yang story line just never seemed to connect with me. I admit to fast forwarding through some of Shanguan and Da Yang's story, but still think the main couple is so worth the watch. I normally get impatient when it takes a long time to make progress in the relationship, but this one developed so gradually, they really do give you a little something in each episode showing the relationship getting closer. Right now, I am on my 3rd watch. I have decided to may a table of contents, that will list the times of every scene the lead couple are both on screen. If you are not rooting for this couple after the 12 minute mark in episode 21... I don't even know what to say. When I saw that scene, I knew Lu Yi was my all time favorite type of leading man.
This is the best chemistry I have seen Ireine Song have with a male lead. I have only watched the both seasons of EverNight and Flavor is Yours. Enjoying this drama, so far.
I am so happy to find a daily drama to watch again, with lots of episodes. I have started to watch weekday afternoons with a cup of green tea, to relax. I have kind of an obscure question. In ep. 14, the father is at home listening to a radio? broadcast or a cassette? of calisthenics to do. I have seen some old dramas, where whole households or whole communities gather to do these exercises while music(an anthem?) is playing and someone is speaking and counting down the exercises to do. Does anyone know what these are called and know where I can see a video with these and with everything translated into English?
Is there a chart somewhere that shows how everyone is related to each other for this drama? I am just starting it now, and not sure who a couple people are.
This drama is available with English subs at several legal streaming sites. OnDemandKorea.: https://www.ondemandkorea.com/whats-with-this-family-e01.htmlKBS…
Thank you. I was just about to ask where to watch this. I saw it as it aired and wanted to re-watch, but couldn't find it. - Youtube says it is not available to my country (I am in the USA). It looks like I will be able to watch it on On demand Korea though. )
I re-watched this over the last couple days. I miss this old romcom formula, that made me fall in love with Kdramas. fun sweet adorable touching... Just makes me smile.
How far in, are you? I was thinking by episode 12 I should know if it's something I'll continue to watch.
I am up to ep 10(I think). I am waiting for subs... I think it may take longer than 12 ep. though. I peeked ahead, and there is a baby. I am wondering if the baby is the daughter mentioned in the synopsis. If so, maybe closer to ep 20 before we get into the meat of the story???
It is starting a bit slow, but I am reserving my opinion, until all of the main characters in the story, have made their appearances. Depending on the chemistry, it may become more interesting. I like this director's style, so the mood and visuals are nice, even if it is not terribly eventful, at the moment.
after watching ''Joy of Life' someone suggested me this as a comedy drama. I've watched 8 ep, i think this drama…
The drama is so visually appealing, I love the way the story meanders along. Unlike most historical dramas with palace politics, it does not cram a bunch of info and introductions of characters in the first few episodes. You can casually watch and not be afraid you will be confused later, if you don't get every word. Unlike most romance dramas, the leading couple, have their own lives and separate love interests, well into the drama. There are bits and pieces that are important to know, later, so it is good if you do watch all of the episodes, but I do get why you are having a hard time getting through ep 8. I found the Gu family's backstory, to be the least interesting. I recommend hanging in there, at least until episode 23... and if you are still not invested, and/or do not like the vibe of the drama, then it will probably not grow on you.
Finally a Korean drama, I want to watch! I feel like I have been in a dry spell, with Kdramas. Thankfully, there have been some really great Cdrama, lately, to fill the gap. Still, so happy, to finally be watching a Kdrama that I am enjoying again.
I just saw a video on twitter of this drama regarding the main character’s eating disorder. That sh*t killed…
It is not surprising to me, that this or any info would be incorrect. I am more surprised, if this is the first time you have noticed that the medical/technical information in dramas is completely nonsense... Dramas, especially comedies are not meant to be taken seriously. Their goal is just to make it funny, and let's be honest, there is nothing funny about an accurate depiction of Anorexia. As a lover of comedies, I have made this comment about other topics that were also NOT depicted with 100% accuracy: There is still a silver lining. Even if the info is incorrect, it gives people a low pressure, opening to discuss serious topics... and in this case, eating disorders..., with their family and friends. It is also important to note, that many people use the term Anorexia broadly, to describe different types of related eating disorders, because it is the most well known. Much in the same way that "Coke", in the south is used interchangeably with Soda Pop. It is quite confusing for non-locals, but when someone says they want a Coke, you have to ask what kind, because they could be asking for a Diet Dr Pepper. lol. Please don't think that I am taking this topic lightly. I just believe comedy can be useful at times when the topics are so heavy that many people would not feel comfortable discussing them otherwise. I have a cousin that has struggled/does struggle with Anorexia. When we were teens, she almost died. Her organs started shutting down. During that time, because it was life threatening, the state viewed it as a suicide attempt. They then took her away from her family, and admitted her to a hospital psych ward. While in the psych ward, due to this traumatic experience, she got amnesia. It was a good long time, before she got her memories back. So, I do know how serious Anorexia is, and how complex the issues are behind developing Anorexia.
Really needing some "escape" today. I am starting to rewatch Faith/The Great Doctor. One of my all time favorite dramas. If you have not watched it, It is a must watch. I love the romance, the soundtrack, and let's not forget Lee Min Ho's hair! I adore Time Travel dramas, in general. (some other good time travel dramas include: Queen In Hyun's Man, Nine Times Time Travel, Moon Lovers, and Tunnel)
I generally like to have romance in every drama... but I know there were a couple, I really liked that did not have a romance... I will try to remember which ones, so I can recommend something.
I'm trying to focus on new dramas with Colorado's numbers are rising in coronavirus has me shaken. It's so hard…
Sorry to hear about that. It can be stressful, for sure. Let me know if you run out of something to watch... I would be happy to try to recommend something suited to your taste.
