Been like 9 years since I've watched this but it's still a show I think about from time to time. Not because it's the most amazing but it's good and the format of shorter daily dramas scratches some specific itch. Haven't really been able to find any other show that I enjoy where I can either watch one episode for a bit of distraction or binge 6 episodes in a row. Maybe I should try high kick. 100+ episodes of half an hour light entertainment that you can also go back to after a few weeks seems a lot less daunting than 60 episodes of 1 hour with some heavy historical drama.
Life can be hard and I think this drama is pretty good at showing the struggles of starting adulthood for many people. But I'm not sure I would call this a romance drama. From the start their relationship was purely transactional. And the entire time they never show the other that they love them. They only hurt their partner and I'm not quite sure how the relationship even lasted that long
After watching this drama, i clearly understand one thing. When it comes to sex, men have no real say in it. He…
Yeah if she doesn't want it you should back off. You are angry at the concept of consent? And it took you watching this drama to understand that you shouldn't rape people? That is really really concerning.
Dramas like this are always hard to rate. It's not exactly good but also not super awful. It does go downhill from the start and at the very end the writers remembered they had to wrap it up somehow and just throw anything at the wall instead of fleshing out anything interesting. They leave half of the stuff not adressed at all. It's like a typical cinderella story but they forgot to give it anything to make it stand out. They've been giving so much budget, burned through it really fast and gave up.
Haven't seen reviews this extremely different in quite some time. It's a fine drama. Is the acting going to win any prizes? No. But it's better than 99% of Web dramas. The Ost is good, the writing is okay. Some of the jokes were pretty funny compared to most dramas. Felt a bit drawn out at some parts. And I was a bit shocked to see EXID Hyelin appear since I didn't even know she ever acted. Lighthearted watch.
Ngl I can't decide if the inclusion of Jennifer is borderline transphobic. A crazy shaman, gets constanty deadnamed and misgendered. Casting a cis man enforces the stereotype that trans women are just "men in dresses". I think Itaewon Class did it a lot better in that regard. I feel like they had good intentions but are just entirely clueless.
The first few seconds made me think this was going to be absolutely awful. But there are some pretty interesting stories to be told here. It feels like it lacks a bit of direction tho. A lot of potential that didn't get realized.
They have cameos from multiple rappers yet not a single person in the production seems to unterstand it. Like your mom trying to make a show about hip hop
Better than Vampire Prosecutor but not good. The ending was pretty bad. They always seem to try to push these overarching stories and fail. Noticed the same with God's Quiz. Love that series but they fail to connect it. Like 12 tangentially related episodes about a vampire solving crime would've probably been better. The issue is they didn't even try to really make use of the vampire thing here.
So many red flags yet they never learn. Still got some reason I kinda enjoyed it. By most metrics it's mediocre. The acting isn't outstanding, the 66000 won joke wasn't funny the first time and didn't get better after repeating it 40 times. The camera work in the gym is pretty questionable. Pacing could be better. Yet I kept watching. Not sure if I can recommend it but there is an audience that will enjoy it like I did.
This show is atrocious. It's not just bad, it's a new level of bad. Feel bad for Namjoo since there is a good chance she acted like instructed and nobody in the production crew stopped this mess. Having worked in the Industry I have some suspicions how this whole thing got made in the first place. But props to them for not only being able to fleece the mfds once to pay their rent but doing it twice.
Ngl one of the best series to come out in the last few years. It's so refreshing. Also Eunji is kinda sexy when she smokes and I don't know how to feel about that.
Outside of some surface level societal critique (which unfortunately in 2022 still stays relevant) this movie doesn't really have much going for it. Having seen the first 2 movies now I don't quite get how this is such a huge franchise.
