I love tin-can????❤️???????? than ae-pete. Am very disappointed to know they separated. I took it…
The frustrating thing is that, from the spoilers I've read about the novel, TinCan *doesn't* split up (at least, not permanently). They are canonically a couple! So I refuse to accept the current drama ending as the offical end of TinCan.
After reading the comments I don't wanna watch the finale lol, I think I'll wait for the s2 announcement, and…
Personally I feel this is a wise choice, unless that extended ep.14 they're promising us works some kind of miracle. Because ep13 leaves AePete & TinCan in at least promising places, story-wise. I'm choosing to view ep14 as ep01 of what *would've* been a second season.
I can only assume, since they got those 2 additional eps partway through, that it should've normally ended around the events of ep12-13 (which is a nice place to end, at least for the 2 main couples) and maybe they were strapped for content to add to make up those extra eps? (also thinking about the weird cellphone product placement that was obviously filmed more recently, as Ae/Perth's hair is totally different from the rest of the series.) So instead they ended up leaving it in a... "less-than-satisfying" place (trying to be vague so as not to spoil it), probably expecting that a s2 would follow (which, if this were any other very successful drama, it would!) and that fans could live with the wait to see the resolution of these storylines. Basically I'm going to try to think of ep13 as the true ending place, and ep14 as the first ep of a 2nd season that we'll (probably) never get. And if the extra 20 minutes of that extended "actual" final ep somehow manage to salvage the finale to my satisfaction, then I'll accept it.
Honestly our disappointment is a testament to how much we've come to expect from this show, because when it was good it was *very* good. And I'm grateful for that, though it makes this all the more depressing unfortunately.
If there's one thing that future BL series can learn from LBC, it's this: never assume you're getting a Season…
I'm comforting myself with the knowledge that canonically Tin & Can do end up together, from the spoilers I've heard from the novels. The show just (inexplicably) chose to leave us at a low point in their story, probably with the thought that all would be "fixed" in s2 (which we are almost assuredly not getting). It sucks, but I'm not accepting it as the end of their story (because it isn't).
imo Ossans' Love was enjoyable but didn't deserve to win over some other series (that final ep was just nonsensical, though fan-pleasing). And Nagasawa Masami in Confidence Man JP was waaaay more interesting than Ishihara Satomi in Unnatural, who seems to be rewarded for just *existing* as an actress.
The "gender bender" may have had its place in a certain time period (i.e. The Recent Past) but honestly nowadays, in the era of *actual* BL dramas, I personally find it pretty dull. Give me some actual same-sex romance any day over this stuff, please.
Is anyone else equally interested in Shotaro's relationship with Haraguchi? I'm thinking (and hoping) those two are gonna end up together in the end too (sorry @ her current gf but she's an undeveloped side character so I don't feel *too* bad). Honestly she's a better match for him than Hijiri is. I wouldn't blame Shotaro for falling for her eventually (if he isn't already on the way there). She's so blunt at times, and yet surprisingly perceptive of people's emotional states (and Yoshida You is doing a *fantastic* job with the character).
I'm not throwing shade on Hijiri as a character either, it's just that she & Shotaro are clearly just maintaining their relationship because it's comfortable/familiar for them, and their families are also expecting the usual outcome (i.e. marriage; followed by Hijiri deferring her career aspirations in favor of his; followed by starting a family; etc.). They're clearly growing apart, at least romantically, and I can see them being best friends but not a married couple.
I was under the impression that Tomb of the Sea is (somehow) part of The Lost Tomb series, not The Candle in the Tomb series. Admittedly, it's easy to confuse the two b/c of the incredibly similar themes (grave-robbing, supernatural elements) and it doesn't help that even recurring characters within both series are often played by entire different actors (yeah, I understand *why* they do that, but it still gets confusing for me at times!).
Regardless, I'm following both of these grave-robbing series though I decided to wait 'til TotS is fully subbed on YouTube before I start in-- if there's one thing I've discovered, it's that having to wait weeks between episodes of these "adventure"-type shows doesn't really make for a fun viewing experience. I like to be able to binge as many eps as I like, especially when they start getting exciting. But I'm glad to hear you feel it's a worthwhile watch, and I'd love to read a "3 Reasons Why" article on Tomb of the Sea in the future!
I don't know if it was your intent but this headline was one of the funniest I've ever read on this site (full disclosure: in my head I heard it read in monotone, oozing with complete and utter indifference).
do people find the fangirls of bad romance disturbing? all the flamboyant gays that lust over the main characters…
Thank god, I thought it was just me who didn't like the fangirl involvement in Korn & Knock's story. It's especially bad b/c Korn & Knock, as far as I can tell, did not *choose* to make their relationship the subject of such a public fandom (unlike a situation like, say, Both & NewYear for example, who actively court followers to [hopefully] their own gain and retain some control over the situation).
These girls are just publicly outing Korn & Knock beyond their circle of friends/acquaintances, whether the couple is ready for it or not (their distress at their parents' reactions seem to indicate "not"), and the guys just seem to have resigned themselves to it happening.
I do think mark's theory above that maybe it's a veiled commentary on a certain element of fandom is very interesting though. I hadn't thought of it that way at all. My first thought was ugh-- they just think fans want to see themselves somehow inserted into the story, even though it doesn't make sense. But I hope mark is right and they actually put these annoying characters to good use in this way.
Just a random comment here, but are you sure the pic the article uses for Ichigo is actually that of Fukushi Sota in the role? Because it doesn't look like him at all (and I'm familiar with the actor in multiple roles, as well as this adaptation-- which I just watched last night).
Hi guys, the raw without english subtitles, where are found it? Jraws stopped at episode 2 :(
I don't know if this helps at all, but the only place I've been able to find raws is DailyMotion (and even those still have the Chinese hardsubs, sorry). All 6 eps are on this playlist: https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x5z5gi
I grabbed the videos (for my own personal collection *only*) using some video capture freeware (4K Video Downloader, for anyone interested). I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone how quickly stuff can disappear from these sites so if you want it I suggest getting it ASAP b/c who knows how long these links will be good.
Suda was *amazing* as Philip in Kamen Rider W. I almost can't believe it was his first major role. The boy was definitely meant to act, that's for sure.
As an aside, Kamen Rider W not only made me a fan of Suda (as my longtime profile pic of Philip w/book should attest), but it also sent me headfirst down the rabbit hole of tokusatsu fandom-- and it's a great place to start if you want to dip your toes into the Kamen Rider waters. (And if I may plead my case-- Not only are the Kamen Rider series [& other toku shows] not "just" kids' shows, they're also a common venue for up 'n' coming actors to make their debuts; i.e., the genre is often a sneak-peak at the next generation of stars).
P.S. Also pretty sure that shirtless pic is one of my scans of his 20+1 photobook from a few years ago! XD (I'm not mad or anything-- those scans have made their way around the internet with my express blessings, it just tickles me to see them pop up here!).
Ah, T came so close to confessing to G in ep17! The entire show I've thought they would make a good couple-- besides being good friends already, they seem the closest in their expectations in a relationship. If the show does go there, however, I hope it's not just as a rebound. Especially after how terribly B treated T while they were dating (seriously, I wouldn't even be *friends* with B after that bullsh*t).
I laugh every time I glance at the synopsis and see the line "but Pete is GAY". Like, in case you weren't quite sure in which general direction Pete's affections lie, this makes it absolutely clear. This is not one of those BL series where there's some poor girlfriend character being cheated on/strung along, and I appreciate that.
