I'm okay with them basically retelling the story with a different setting/characters and even replacing most of the cast (Hayashi Kento esp. will be missed, but I like Chiba Yudai too), but I'm sort of wondering if Tenku Peach getting their fingers in this pie will affect story quality. Runway 24 (a spring 2019 drama) was basically a glorified ad for the airline, to the point where I dropped it out of boredom. I'm inherently more invested in the main character here at least (due to the original show) but I didn't come here for an ad pitch in the guise of a rom com/workplace drama.
I don't like to rate a series unless I've finished it, but not everyone adheres to that. So this alternate stat will be very helpful-- not so much to go by one score rather than the other (b/c the new score seems like it will lean artificially high) but to compare the 2, while taking into account whether the premise of the show seems appealing in the first place (which should help me decide which score to weigh more heavily for my personal decision-making).
I only started watching this for the Love Sick connection (which is tenuous at best) and at first I was kinda bored b/c these are all new faces and, not gonna lie, I was having a hard time remembering who's who, etc. But after 4-5 eps it had grown on me. It's a cute youth drama with some (very) light romance, which imo is appropriate to characters at this age (teenage-- I'm guessing like 15 or so? They seem a bit younger than the LoveSick crew, though that could just be because the tone of this drama is lighter).
I wonder why they didn't they call it a 2 part SP rather than a "series". I mean, don't get me wrong, I will absolutely take what I can get but when something is called a series I usually think of at *least* 4-5 eps.
can anyone tell me what exactly it is and where to get the song in the opening theme, plz?
"Tokyo Joe" by Bryan Ferry. As to where to get it, get it wherever you get your Western music mp3s (I'm sure you can probably figure it out). Here's a YouTube link though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfcWk59FOlc
I think Gift (J-drama) is one of the few dramas to handle amnesia right. Instead of being a (too-) convenient plot device to throw some obstacles into a romance, the amnesia is what drives the entire story forward -- the main character has to put together clues to try to figure out who he was before his memory loss.
I've watched through ep11 and Khai *still* hasn't won me over. I guess they did too good a job of portraying him as an a--hole for too long in the beginning. It's like his character didn't "earn" the redemption that the story wants to us to feel. His behavior towards Third changed, yes, but that could be easily be attributed to the fact that he's now romantically interested in him, so it comes off as self-serving. It would be more meaningful if they showed him taking more time and reconsidering how he's been using people (women, specifically, though he hardly seems to consider them "people") and engaging in a little self-reflection before pursuing Third. I haven't watched the final ep yet (probably b/c I'm just not that invested in it) but I wouldn't be sad at all if they didn't end up together (but who am I kidding, of course they will).
This is one of those shows that gets referenced/parodied in other shows pretty often-- such as in the most recent Gintama movie when Gintoki makes a reference to singing the theme song himself (something Oda Yuji tended to do, back in the day at least). And then, if there were any doubt left, the ending credits of the movie had me guffawing (and having to explain to the friends I was watching with that it was a parody of the Odoru Daisousasen end credits).
Anyway, I thought the original TV series was a pretty fun 90s drama (featuring such dated elements as: Everyone smoking in the office at their desks, and almost all female employees are in traffic division or clerical positions!). I liked the sequel series as well but not quite as much so (it's kind of just more of the same, so...). I haven't watched any of the movies, probably because I get the impression they're more "serious police drama" than the series, which tended to have a lot of light, comedic moments mixed throughout.
Are you talking about Liz' hair colour?! Because that was confusing the heck out of me! At one point I even went…
They clearly filmed different parts of the show at different times and at some point the actress either dyed or lightened her hair and either the show's stylist(s) didn't notice (which would be weird) or they just didn't care enough to have her "fix" the color to match what they'd filmed before. Who needs continuity, right? XD Honestly at this point I just find it amusing to watch it bounce back and forth from scene to scene!
Just so you (the writers) know, this article isn't showing up in the scrolling banner on the main page anymore, for the past few hours (at least for me it isn't; I was starting to think I'd imagined reading it!).
Wow, my tastes definitely seem to align with AishwarayaMV's (based on this small selection of titles, at least). Especially Meitantei no Okite, I thought that was great fun and incredibly entertaining.
