Wow that's so weird to absorb, normally 8.0 overall is just a standard good rating, 80 % of shows are far from ever reaching the luxury of 9.0 πŸ™ƒ thanks for replying

I don't mind the character of the FL.Her being manipulative adds to the intrigue as it's an unconventional character…
It's always somewhat hard for me to tell if the character is scripted like that deliberately and is supposed to come off that robotic, or if it's just the actor's issue.... both ways it's not all that pleasant πŸ˜…

Would have watched for the bromance but since that woman is going to ruin that I'm not going to
You can wait after the drama is finnished and if it doesn't have an utterly bad ending, give it a chance later. It would be a shame if bromance is your cup of tea (as it is mine). I'm still in cause I told myself I'll just see what fruits it will or won't bring, but I totally get why you don't want to go through that frustration πŸ˜„

i liked in ha's sister more than hyewon with tae oh
You're in the majority! 😁 i personally don't like this kind of behavior in females even if it's for some kind of humor relief, it comes off as nuisance to me. However i'd still rather ship these two than the 1FL with whoever.
That being said, i'm not really in this drama for shipping anyone, i like everything else about the story outside of the romance so i'm holding out 😁

what do you mean low? isn't 8.1 quite good?πŸ‘€ I don't know, I never got a good grasp of the dynamics of what people consider bad rating so i'm genuinely asking

anyways, just try it, I personally don't think it's bad, just see for yourself if it meets your expectation and ignore what happens around you πŸ˜‡

It is true, it's what I've been thinking the whole second episode.... they just wanted partnership to help each other out with their goals. However you can see over the years they got genuine with each other to a certain point. I think why Tae Ho didn't speak the truth about his feelings to Hye Won infront of In Ha when he asked him, is because he's just used to rely on himself, he's hardcore introverted and doesn't release any more information and waste any more breaths than he has to. And yes In Ha is watching all that from shadows without anyone knowing, which none of us know what it will result into. I was a bit surprised he worried so much about a girl whom he literally heard personally saying that she wants to use him. The way the cards are layed out, anything can happen. Now I'm really curious what this will turn into after so many things happening in just two eps πŸ˜Άβ€‹πŸ˜„

"Our game has only just begun." Yes, I firmly want to believe that.... After basically the whole second episode has been spent by constant running after HyeWon whose character is unbearable. πŸ˜β€‹

And yes, I know she's meant to be the disturbance in the game. I just couldn't take it seriously with both of them running after her like puppies with nothing really being that likable about her and her pokerface. I KNOW she's going through stuff and I have no problem with her being resilient. Only her attitude is just so needlessly cold, unfriendly and insincere. She DID say she doesn't trust people and yes that's acceptable. However I can't help but feel annoyed.

I looked at your watchlist... for k-drama, I would recc Come and Hug Me, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Crazy Love,…
Thank you so much for all your tips! From what you foreshadowed for me, it seems that half of them would be something I'd go for, plot-wise. I appreciate it, really – didn't expect such an exhausting and extensive response, so I'm very grateful + you even checked my watchlist to have a grasp of my taste, that's thoughtful of you. I have so much on my plate with the k-dramas I want to watch, but I feel like it's not gonna take long before the day comes when I need a breeze of something else just to refresh, so I'm writing down your recommendations. πŸ˜Šβ€‹

What would you describe as progressive about c-dramas? I haven't watched a single one in my life and I don't know why, lord doesn't know either, why they always come off as not-gripping and cheap...? It's just a feeling. It's not my opinion that I'd want to push through, since I have 0 experience with it. And if you say c-dramas have progressed in certain ways better than k-dramas, I wonder if you could list some trope or cinematography examples (not to doubt or test you, but to convince myself it's worth the shot πŸ™) . K-dramas from recent years mostly have such good and pleasing quality when it comes to camera, screen resolution, cuts.... Somehow I wonder if c-dramas are also so well filmed (and story-wise too).

As for j-dramas I totally get your problem. Words can't describe how tremendously I suffer and ache from the lack of good j-drama. I LOVE the sound of Japanese language and want to listen to it to improve (self learner), and I LOVE Japanese culture and the overall aura (no, anime didn't start this path for me). Yet 90 % of Japanese production I watch doesn't have good quality/high budget, doesn't have good acting despite the plot synopsis itself being intriguing, but the execution of seemingly good story is lacking, always resorts to somehow being only half-baked and never pulls me in the way k-dramas do. I'd like to say Japanese Netflix is doing a little bit better, but with most outside of it it doesn't make me stick around. K-dramas also have repetitive tropes, story twists and stereotypical character types. But with j-dramas it somehow feels worse. 😞

Title Death's Game
I really liked it, but what really hurt me was how they were displaying a victim of suicide as a bad/selfish person.…
Agreed. The major part of suicide cases is proven to be intended to actually make the surroundings relieved. The victim is convinced they're a liability to those around them, to their beloved (family, friends) and they believe those people would actually be better off without them. They view themselves as a nuisance to their environment. Yet, of course, they are selfish, since they in their mind believe they're freeing their family from a burden. What a selfish thing to do.

This portrayal of depression in a year 2024 is very, very, very lacking and sad and inaccurate, it's not simply black and white, good and bad, weak and strong/brave. There's such a wide range of what drives people to suicide, it has nothing to do with being selfish or being a weak coward. For god's sake I despise this branding.... πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I just submitted a review in protest of this drama and the way it's written. There is so much going on with the…
I'm also sad it's turning out like that so far. Really, the first half of the first episode was such a ride, I was like "yeaaah this was made for me!" Then the FL showed up as his neighbour and suddenly my mind went "ohh... no....why...." Of course, I saw her in the cast. However, had she been introduced differently I wouldn't smell a love triangle sticking out from miles away... I would just think "oh she's going to be an interesting asset to the story!"

I don't know what they follow with this, I don't like the idea of the girl climbing up a social ladder thanks to those two only.... And I don't like her getting in between them either (or to put it differently, them letting her get in between ). I don't want their friendship to fall apart because of that in the future and for them to become enemies again (given that what a short and small buildup of their friendship was actually given to us), even if it is the role she's supposed to play in this, probably.

All in all, EVERYTHING else is really to my taste and I truly want to keep liking this. But love triangles just rub me the wrong waaay....😩

Why... why is it that once you have two males and one female as lead cast, it's ALWAYS a love triangle. Does it ALWAYS have to be an omen.....

I am loving this way more than I thought I would, based on reviews. This is why I shy away from ratings, for the…
I'm at episode 4. Personally, I find the cinematography and production more or less smart, especially with the flashbacks and processing trauma as you say.

However, my problem is that I can't connect to any of the characters so far. Mother's "mission" doesn't interest me the slightest, I don't understand the progression much, her dialogues with the father aren't interesting either, nor the family interactions overall (I don't sense much chemistry), or the sake brewery issue. Neither did I find intriguing how Haru and Karen tried to infiltrate the cult organization. I barely know how to feel about these characters to worry about them and their steps yet, I don't feel like they've been introduced to me properly. The one most fleshed out is probably Haru, thanks to his obvious struggle with past and inner conflict.

Overall the camera and cuts are so nice and the cast itself is funny and pleasing. But I just don't care about the story at all so far and most of the time I feel like dozing. I don't mind the comedy aspect at all, I enjoy humor well balanced with depth which I think would be possible here. But I can't bring myself to be pulled in by the story, it feels very flat.

I'm aware that the family is supposed to be comunicating very badly at this point since each member is focused on different goal and different task, which they don't share amongst each other. There's a clear void filling the room when they're together, and it's on purpose. However, I don't feel enough like a family being pulled apart, rather just some randomly picked people being thrown in the same room together and being told to act like family. Nevertheless, that's only my opinion and I don't think the show is bad, I'm only halfway through.

I very much understand πŸ₯² Yeah the saddest thing is I really like the setting sooooo much 🀣 I don't want to give up.
