The ML is Khitan (related to Mongolic people). But most chinese dramas don't pay attention to historical accuracy so that's why the costumes give off that impression. The only drama that actually did research for Khitan culture is The Legend of Xiao Chuo (but male characters in the royal family all have the wrong hairstyles, except for slaves). If you're interested I have a list for Khitan dramas on my page.
I know I'm late to this, but these dramas aren't even time travel: Eternal Love The King's Woman My Love From the Star Miss Rose In Time With You Pretty Li Hui Zhen Fall in Love With Me Just You Love Buffet Murphy's Law of Love
And then Legend of Swordsman is about traveling inside a video game, but the MLs have the ability to log in and out whenever they want, so it really doesn't count.
In the special episode: Five years later, Mu Chuan became crown prince, but he never married. He recovered Mu…
Where? In episode 30? That's because they decided to break up. She doesn't want to be involved with the royal family again. As crown prince, Mu Chuan will be forced to have multiple wives, and being infertile will put her in a very dangerous position (downgraded to concubine). That episode is on youtube.
The ml is supposed to the soft sunshine in her chaotic life
After rewatching this 2 more times, I changed my mind and I'm actually glad that ML got more screentime. If he wasn't there for FL, she would have turned evil already.
anyone who also watched the donghua, is it worth watching? ik theres a lot of episodes in the donghua but does…
Absolutely! I'm a plot person, so I liked the donghua more mainly because the plot is very detailed. Every character has their own backstory and isn't there to just make the main cast stand out. For example, the scene where Tai Long (love rival) and his grandpa lost the battle to Tang San due to the hammer doesn't serve the purpose to emphasize that Tang San is alpha. Instead, the scene is there to introduce Tang San to people related to his clan.
Also, the characters are more convincing (likeable). For example, Tang San's strong points are that he's highly intelligent, very very experienced in combat, and VERY reliable. He would never do dangerous things unless he's 101% confident in success. However, drama Tang San is just arrogant in the WRONG way. He always causes trouble and do dumb things. Then, Xiao Wu is pretty strong herself and never rely on men for anything. Then, Zhu Zhuqing isn't annoying like in the drama.
Apart from this, the visuals are amazing. The way they built the settings actually makes you feel like you're inside a Barbie European fairytale-ish movie.
I know 200+ episodes sounds overwhelming, but the pacing is not slow at all. The combat scenes are fast and very detailed (3 episodes at most), it's just that the story is long. The MC starts out as 6 years old, and he's around 25 right now.
Wait.... is this the game from Love O2O, isn't it?!
This video game exists but it only borrowed the name. The plot is nothing similar (the original is about ghost-hunting, not martial arts). However, in the Love O2O novel and movie, the game is actually called 梦游江湖 (Meng You Jiang Hu).
In all the CDrama's synopsis I've read, I've never seen one that left out one of the Leads completely. So where…
According to the novel he's a blue-eyed Khitan from the Yelü clan (famous in history) who kidnaps FL and made her his slave, and the story is mainly about her trying to escape. But the drama censored his ethnicity because it's politically sensitive.
This description of the drama sounds different from the synopsis of the novel I read. The book seems much more…
I think it's due to censorship. Producers usually don't make shows about minorities because they're scared of being accused of intentionally making them look bad and offending people of that descent. (How nomadic people are always evil and "barbaric", how miao/hmong people are all witches that cast love spells). Therefore, they either change the focus of the story or make that one character's ethnicity ambiguous.
For example: Qu Xiaofeng from "Goodbye My Princess" was changed from Gokturk to some random fictional tribe. Ashile Sun from "The Long Ballad" was changed from Khitan to Chinese.
https://kisskh.at/745641-xiang-si-lingoh everlasting longing has mention of khitan/qi dan people
You're right. But just from the way they changed ML's original novel name and named his tribe instead of straight up saying that he's Khitan, I'm expecting censorship. Probably didn't want to offend the Yelü clan. Smh.
Actually I was talking about the second leads. Baili Hongyi clearly has no interest in Liu Ran but they keep giving her screentime, baiting the audience even though they don't end up falling for each other. For some reason everybody ships them. Their romance looks so forced and annoying. I'd rather have Liu Ran as a small supporting character instead of main.
其次,你说的Kharagpur是什么玩意儿??查都查不到。如果你想说Uyghur Khaganate(回鹘汗国),那也没有说对。
