Many of us who are put off by gratuitous use of skinship in Western Drama / movies enjoy the respite Asian Drama provides by building up relationships before any sort of physical act is shown .. makes it more relevant to the show .. Besides the fact that PDA isn't an Asian thing ..

HAVING SAID THAT .. YESSS .. it's a BIT too infantile OF COURSE when ADULTS act skittish after their relationship has been established ..

Finding a balance between skinship and story requirement is a tight rope walk that ONLY a handful of Dramas can PULL off SO SO WELL.

Examples of those :

~ WLIS (Will Love in Spring) what a beautifully played chemistry .. those skinship ACTS were NEEDED to propel the story forward!

~ REPLY 1988 (without those the story comes to a grinding halt)

~ Another Miss Oh (progression is visible ONLY when .. )

~ City of Streamers (WOW .. the barriers falling needed the shift)

~ Love is Sweet (oh story go to heck .. JUST the CHEMISTRY glued the DRAMA together and held it FAST)

How I WISH beloved Bai Lou who is terrific at being ALL SLY and FOXY- wicked in self-defence mode OR when she has an agenda up her sleeve (besides a well sharpened knife) was THE FL LEAD opposite Dylan Wang!!

I think I'd have agreed to die and be buried with bliss in my heart and a foolish grin on my face giving 11/10 to LBFAD ..

I JUST couldn't handle the FL that shoe-horned into the role ..

I left the drama hanging in the wind for months and months ALL because I couldn't get past her each time I'd click play ..

Asian Drama has DEVILS aplenty though ..
Unforgettable Tan Tai Jin spitting blood, seething love, hate, desire in one HISSING cauldron ..
He looked like he could suck the blood out of his temptress ;-p
Or bash her head in for leading him down the garden path ..

ROFL - Gosh I can see the swirling dark red wine in your goblet swirling as you watch this drama.

Agree that this is a realistic drama that captures the feelz of what on the ground relationship might feel and sound like ..

So many people got triggered by the FL reaction on that one WILD NIGHT she wanted to be intimate ..
I thought the heart and beauty of the drama WAS IN THAT scene.

It didn't flinch away from the reality of the FL's feelings ..
It successfully drew out the empathy for her BUT only if one came to watch a 'real life' depiction .. NOT a fairy tale fluffy story .. where FLs dump everything for LOVE and ML

I'll take a deep breath and return .. and HOPE that the FL upends the Director's advice and does her own thing that brings the character into the correct tonality

This FL is SUCH A GOOD actress I have NO idea why the director couldn't let her be her natural self ..

She seemed to have been over directed ..

Her Hospital Scene was STELLAR!! That should have been the tone .. allow the actress to find the right "note of cheerfulness" ..

I can almost seen him 'amping' up the "BRIGHTNESS" making her "all washed out and fake" (you know like when you adjust a photo to the point it just looks 'fake')

Then there is something off in that it's NOT AT ALL 'clear' in the structuring of the first episode
- there was NO HINT that these two knew each other .. NO hint at ALL about them having ANY previous connect!!

- It was like a random radio show caller that connected with her and she was pissed at being called given her condition ..

- The caller on the other end seemed as clueless about this cussing listener.

- Then in some 'future' date (post-switch of persona) she is goo-goo ga ing with a friend about this idol having been in her school and they didn't know of him??

SO WHEN was the 15 years back she knew him?
Or 15 years later she is all grown up and looking for a job??

The timeline has me axed .. and MOSTLY because FL is on some magic potion that preserved her and her ML in picture postcard "same age" and 'same style' over 15 years

Maybe I will squint my way past the OVER-BRIGHT and OVER-ZEALOUS BOMB of Positivity to try catch the LOOPY timeline

Usually a SOLID drama does a BRILLIANT jump which is an INSTANT visual giveaway of the Cast (without any on screen text cueing the viewer) on time lapse.

There wasn't ANY foreshadowing AT ALL in the drama ..

I just posted fresh comment after being gut punched by how quickly the drama devolved

So anyway I was coaxed by an MDL pal to check this show out.

I was avoiding it (apologies if I hurt the feelz of the ML shippers of this show) because I kind of simmer down when I find Actors from what seems (clearly) intensive reconstructive work that left the face almost immobile 🫢

You know.. The crinkles around eyes.. The corners of lips. Chins.. Cheeks.. All those micro expressions that lift the ACTING SKILL to the next level.

I enjoyed the actress in her previous support and guest roles.. And was looking foward to watching her take on a major role.

Ep 1 begins with her hitting the ball out the park and I was cosying up for a cuppa to sink into the drama.

However a few more scenes on I am popping out my seat as I feel a wreck coming up - why did the FL suddenly switch into this cringey - over smiling blinding floodlight that is washing out ALL detail and beauty that the beginning seemed to promise!!!

Am guessing his words forged a miracle for her??
But this Polar shift - total mind boggling persona swiping change (and forced cheerful expression) isn't working IMO.

TO SWAT the viewer with this "metamorphosis" required some work which would create some plausibility.

Anyway am now going to scroll to see if anyone else felt this jarring switch...

Was it (QOT) all about "pushing" product by pro publicity teams? Or genuine viewer driven interest?

Without too much fear of being pulped (IMO) I found QOT highly underwhelming.
The publicity went overboard..

It was ridiculous (IMO) to imagine that it would replace CLOY or GOBLIN in viewer's opinion.
