What a Stupendous BUDGET this Drama must have had.
Those LAVISH sets .. exquisite costumes .. My jaws fell soaking in all the atmosphere ..
10/10 ALL for JUST that.
SIGH!! The Story had SUCH potential. BUT the visual telling of it - be it with camerawork, OST, character portrayal, dialogues, acting was SO DULL!! All that raw emotion and complexity of the many many agendas and motivations was laid lifeless by a flat pace - rhythm - linearity of plot .. As though lifted raw from a historical timeline in chronological order ..

Didn't work for me. 🙈 EVEN Yanxi Palace had MORE STYLE in its telling - and character portrayal and acting.
Interesting though that it garnered QUITE a following 🤓
Unlike the 2 other period dramas which IMO had far superior treatment in all departments. ~ Joy of Peaceful Serenity ❤️🔥 ~ Royal Nirvana ❤️🔥❤️🔥

I so want to draw this drama to the attention of viewers looking for good "meaty, Challenging" dramas that break the mold and serve up some serious "styling" in plot and storytelling with complex characters and dialogues that shine and make you work at "what did he / she mean"
