I don't know why .. but I watched these two .. they were OK .. I always enjoy the 'hidden identity' stuff with being in secret love .. it was awful storywise - no real meat ..
All kinds of nonsensical stuff is being thrown in the way with NO link to the main story EXCEPT to throw the Leads into each other .. SO SO artificial and poor a script ploy

Was Not invested any more in the characters .. Serious WASTE of the Director Jiang character (HONG YAO). He was the gem I discovered.
OKAY it's AN ANGST FESTIVAL ... ANGST MARDI GRAS!!!
FOR ANGST ADDICTS ..
That could have been cut down to half the episode size (max 24 or even 30 would be a relief).
The CONFLICT point about the dead fathers WAS SO SO SO FLIMSY .. or maybe THAT was the point of the story .. the FL's 'Little Tortoise' Character trait??
BUT why did I BINGE on this turtle paced 46 eps of sheer vibrating angst .. the OTP .. Goodness those two have a chemistry that is painful yet like chilled glass of water and ADDICTIVE!
SO I would have left a 8.0 probably .. that extra 0.5 is ONLY for the actors chemistry and acting prowess.
One of the HOTTEST KISS scenes - intimate scenes - the ML actor knows how or ratchet up the heat index.

The MOST annoying characters were Sister and her BF / S FL and her PURSUER / the irritating assistant FL.
The CHARACTER of the SML was WOW!!! LOVED LOVED his role and acting.
Ive seen him SO many times and he ALWAYS delivers a REFRESHING version of whatever script / director doles out to him. He has presence ..
BUT sadly he's NEVER been a Lead role (in a romantic drama) ..

AND THEN .. (ta da) .. I watched Tree with Deep Roots last week and BOOM I almost fell off my chair there he was KING SEJONG .. just rocking that show .. I was SO happy I bumped it it,
I agree with EACH AND EVERY observation you made about the Drama (I am guessing you watched all the 3 seasons).
In fact those are also precisely the reason I LOVE the drama series with KIM SABU ;-p heading it in the lead role.
I too expected a "romantic" drama .. and then was SO swept away by it SO quickly even though 'romance wasn't THE FOCUS at all. JUST integral and enough to make it believable
