Great OST and much better than Never say Goodbye. ML actor surprise me. This is third role where I saw him acting and every time his characters give different vibes which not many actors are able to pull off.
For me the biggest star of the show was an actress Kim Min Jung and I must say that the president Baek Hyun Jin also deserves kudos cause his every scene must be so exhausting as he was giving so much energy in his acting. The rest was also great but these two I really enjoyed. Oh, I must mention OST which was soooo~ good, really one of the best.
The first half was really interesting cause the love story has quite bold concept. We could see pure and deep love mixed with adoration without anything sexual...although having not 1 but 3 people having unbending crush for 14 long years was a bit much...but I can't really understand what happened after cause we have meddling mother, corporate stuff, murder, crazy staff, finding her sister and it wasn't enough so also her father and then it's topped with illness. It's like script was totally written by someone else 10 years ago, all the nice emotion from the first half slowly disappearing. And I can't really understand why would newpapers and journalist went so crazy about love life of ML. Come on, in present society it is quite hard to shock and he was just one artist winning a design contest.
It was attractive drama for me, cause Chinese romance tends to be less mature-oriented. I like simplicity of the story and characters, that there were no evil plots/figures. I liked how it dealt with skinship as it is very natural part of the relationship and chemistry was very strong. In quick succession I saw Falling into your smile, Crush and this one. All of them are for me 8,5 cause each has it's own charm...the production, acting and story was above Chinese average...although I must say Crush was the most special among them. I would have given the rate higher but I didn't cause it wasn't on parr with 9,0 dramas in my world :-) Dilraba and Yang Yang were charming here, but story sometimes felt just like posing 2 beautiful actors without more substance...yes, they were changing each other but it was subtle compared to more meaningful Crush... compared to Crush the story seemed a bit shallow but I enjoyed it profoundly anyway :-)
Something a bit different from Chinese mainstream. We have a visually impaired ML, child with autism, father with illness and then sudden interesting twist with FL. It took more heavy topics which are rare in chinese dramaworld but about 2 years back they have already started to appear in Korean dramaworld. It is a fluffy romance story but without any typical stereotypes a lá firework, big confession scenes or without big hallo about the first kiss or night spend together. It was rather slow paced, sensual trying to convey moods and slow developing characters as they change each other. MC actors both they did good jobs here. For me it was very enjoyable to watch, kudos for that.
No clichés, good-written characters with personalities, great chemistry. All the cast was great, but ML actor was especially noticeable portraying innocent but energetic youth with mature touch as he grows through relationship... he looks like a great actor with his micro-mimic expressions. The problems were dealt quite logically...what a relief to finally see a couple which can communicate and doesn't sacrifice himself/herself for the other and bonus was - there is no break-up, one of a few without any fireworks, surprise event confession...and some lines were really phenomenal and from life. I loved the one "we forget that people around us love us also deeply". This one is quite deep and I can see it around myself that many people forget this - so afraid to say things to closest family/friends cause being afraid. Also the scene where ML was crying on his father shoulder was very touching. And subtle jokes about Xi Song or father being similar to actor in TV show were really funny.
I am sucker to contract marriages plot and this one was quite nicely done compared to many others. I really liked FL's character and especially her spunk which is rarely seen in Chinese dramas - or should we say... we see many actresses trying to pull it off but mostly characters are annoying...here, her character was lovely and believable.
Army line was ok and Johnny was very believable as a captain of soldiers, even more that ML from You are my hero. But drama suffers from very uninteresting FL which is the same as thousands others before her. I am not sure whether it was the actress or dubbing but she was overly dramatic...I really liked her in Song of Glory where she surprised me how she portrayed her character with strong presence...so I would say that too overly sweet roles as in Wolf and here don't do her justice...and compared to Mi Ka she came as to shallow, wishy-washy and let's say the hospital part sometimes seemed as a joke. Don't understand why they are still using scene where blooded patient is going for operation and they are riding him among all other patients of the hospital.
I don't watch high school drama anymore, but I decided to try this one out and I was very pleasantly surprised. Both ML acting was astonishing, especially FL when she is only 16 years old. Both managed to convey pure and undiluted feeling of deep love for each other...it remained it me a bit Go ahead in this aspect. And most of actions and reasoning behind them actually were giving sense :-)
After My country this was first sage which I really enjoyed...ok, Mr. Queen I put in a different category. FL actress was right on spot with her dignified elegance and she was like a flower slowly blossoming as she was discovering herself. It was very nice motive. A little bit similar to Rebel princess. Il Woo acting was also very good with his micro reactions. What gave boost this drama and emphasized the feeling in scenes was especially great OST. And I loved some of the scenes that just gave the feeling without conversation, for example when ML rescue FL in water after suicide and they are lying on the beach next to each other and then we see her tears. That was a strong moment.
Not only this drama has most of the usual tropes and it even overuses them. Several cases of amnesia, infatuated…
Yes, I am thinking exactly the same. Not one but two cases of amnesia and typical: you slept with me, you must marry me or I blackmail you, you must marry me...But two main actors are very very good and could deliver believable performance, so they are redeeming point of this drama with great chemistry.
Loved this. Nice and fluffy but with very well written main characters...and actors were great at expressing changes when body swap happens topped with very good chemistry. One of the best rom-com from China in the last 2 years, at least for me.
For me the main weakness were bland characters without any distinction from hundreds of others and the weakest was ML character...yeah, director/screenwriter didn't make it believable why he started to like FL, to have emotion and so on. Also the side couple story was a bit... How many people can be hanged on something so intently when it happened 9 years ago? Common...they are about 30 years old talking about a kiss...it would be more believable with one night stand or something.
Not your every drama story. This is not a cathy and appealing drama , but it has its own unrefined charm, top notch acting and from time to time very witty sense of humor.
I got used to poor editing in china and very often cast can't be blamed due to censorship. But I can't get my head around that they cut one of the most important scenes where finally our MC explain each other the misunderstandings. I liked actors, many were good and did a great job but I can't get over so poorly written characters. I was so frustrated with many plots and silly decisions...there was nothing new, refreshing and interesting...so many backstabbing. In the Rebel princess there are also so many betrayals but there was an idea there - I would say that main topic was to show how power and greed corrupt given the chance in subtle ways step by step. Non of the characters came across as annoying. You would say it is the same here, but no... here, it just frustrated the hell out of me. Maybe it is cause I think it is a lazy or easy approach to mix comedy and tragedy...to make you engage, it always start with comedy, then bang let's take a serious approach...oh, it is too serious, let's make lighter with a joke. I don't mind there is a little romance but after first 15 eps there is hardly any interaction between our MC and SML has significantly more screening time with FL which doesn't add for you to enjoy the romance.
I won't talk about the actors, cause I think they did a pretty decent job. For me the biggest weakness was the script...ML and FL were characters which I have seen so many times before without adding any new flavour. It is a pity cause time setting was interesting, I would welcome more historic dramas from this period. And I must say that after some Chinese period drama (Nirvanas, The rebel princess, Yanxi palace) Koreans politics schemes seems a bit simplistic...in the recent few years it was My country and The Arthdal Chronicles that hold the bar...oh, and recent Mr. Queen :-)
Many things have been written but I must appreciate 2 things: the beautiful settings and Si Tang's costumes. Somebody really took time and carefully chosen so many visually splendid settings... I loved the houses in Dana, in Y..w village and all the temples and Qin Fan houses. So I applaud whoever did the work :-) Also Si Tang's clothes were so original, creative, incorporating local culture into something new. It's not my style, but I loved it and was looking forward to the next scene wondering what she is gonna wear. After the Rebel princess, this was one of the most original fashion style I've seen in dramas and one of the best fashion sense for Chinese drama from present time. And of course, both young and adult Si Tang's actress were so wonderful.
How far did you watch? I thought the same initially until I watched up to episode 5 and it kept me hooked. I can…
I've already completed with big "forward" help :-) Recently I have watched the Rebel princess and I loved that one so much... but this drama and me, we just didn't click, although I liked Dilraba's acting.
