The same old Revenge story.... There wasn't anything new... It lacked both legal and thriller elements, making…
I can only agree. The same old plot, nothing new, lacking dialogues and lot's of cartoonish characters - gangsters, aunt, their superior, the lawyer...all 2D with few main characteristics and that was all. For me the most interesting was the story of Noh Tae Nam and his development (but still very hard to accept that he participated passively in rape)...and acting of male lead. He is different in every role, seems like very versatile actor (got to notice him in Itaewon class).

So far this is the best Chinese military drama I've seen. Character driven, and plot and especially missions, fighting seemed realistic. Actors performing as soldiers did great job in their acting. It had to be tough all the running, fighting in sand, mud and rain. They have my admiration. It was nice that all the characters were developed instead of being just cannon fodders. Yeah, there is no military show in china without propaganda and they really like the word "best", but it was still ok. I must say it was after Sword Snow Stride and Reset probably the first Chinese drama of this year where I didn't use button forward (maybe except the "military speech" part). Oh, I loved there was no romance line, cause in Ace Troops it was one of the weakest points of that drama, at least for me. And one more thing, I liked that they didn't complicated characters, giving them some really special story, but they remained toned down-to-earth. Yang Yang's abducting story seemed special, but later we found out that others have even more painful experiences. What made him special was his hardwork and drive to be on top, but we were also shown his less appealing sides: cockiness, arrogance, stubbornness. To write such a simple but interesting character is not easy, as now there is trend to give them special story, or at least special background or circumstances. Kudos for that.

Great acting, disturbing topic, good villain...this drama has all the ingredients I like, so I don't know why I couldn't get into story. I feel something is missing, but not sure what.

For me, after the Mr. Queen, it is one of the best Korean rom-coms of the recent years. The fisrt eps were so hilarious, I was laughing so much. The great chemistry between main 4 cast was visible and added spiceness to their roles. I absolutely adored Kim Se Yeong. I think that Ahn Hyo Seop's role was the hardest, cause this character was the biggest cliché, chaebol with cool and aloof personality which we have seen many times, but he also did a good job. After first 8eps I would rate it 9.0 but I don't why the last four felt a bit different, as if steam and hilarity bit disappeared. The fist episodes worked so well with clichés - not avoiding but using them so well - and then after 8th ep suddenly it seems that it got caught itself in this cliché trap. Anyway it was a nice ride, if you want to have Korean fluff in pure rom-com package.

Too short to get into the story. We get glimpses of who Kakeru is, but as he just say few sentences per episode, it is hard to get who he is, or get really attached to his character. I really liked the fighting scenes, kudos for that. We can see that they were working were hard on them, Kakeru especially. Unfortunately this type Japanese dramas at least for me suffer from one-dimensional characters - we have a wise teacher, we have a supportive partner or funny friend and so on but that is all to them, nothing more...and all their doing is decided by this one specific characteristic. But anyway this was nice break from korea or china :-)

On Why Women Love Mar 27, 2022
Nicely done fluffy rom-com full of chemistry. Their chemistry was off the charts and after the Red Sleeve this is my most favorite couple of the last half year. I really like how their interaction had natural flow and it was funny to watch cause FL is more dominant here but also in behind the scenes. And I also like the message: it's not about background, age, or who fits you better (even though your friends, parents tell you so) but about your feelings. Yeah, I know, nothing revolutionary but when it is nicely done, it is ok. Oh, and we tackled some stereotypes: 1) we have a cocky ML, but he is NOT jerk, he is actually very nice 2) we have cherry trees in blossom, but they are white (not pink). 3) we have dates, but no amusement park (hurrah). 4) after spending night together, she didn't wear white T-shirt as in every drama (must be uncomfortable for sleeping). We didn't get much of story, but we had nice pacing, funny sense of humor and great chemistry. I put it together with You are my hero and Love is sweet.

j-dramas are quite specific. I've gotten a little unaccustomed to their style. But I like the fight scenes here,…
Rurouni kenshin has - I think - 4 movies. My recommendation is to watch the last one, which is called "The beginning" :-)

Can someone tell me if this drama is about investigating and finding out who the killer is?
You mean if we are guessing who the killer is? Than no. We usually see them in action (you will meet 3 serial killers through show plus those the team meet in prisons for talking). But what was interesting, at least for me, how police and our newly formed profiling team went through evidences and made assumption/conclusion. It is not typical crime cause it is based on real-cases and as I checked them - those killers were really arrested in a way it is portrayed in this drama.

A crime drama with serial killers are my cup of tea. And I really liked this one. Concept was fresh - beginning of profiling in Korea and how a newly formed team was facing distrust while implementing new methods...I liked the more realistic approach as it sometimes takes years to identify and capture such heinous criminals, quite often strange coincidence helps. I liked how they took us step by step through cases based on real-life cases , showing us importance of legworks, importance of determination of police forces and how it takes psychological tolls on everybody to face evil everyday. Very refreshing was that our ML wasn't there during arresting. In this type of dramas we usually have heroes going all out, suspecting, fighting and arresting - or even more unlikely killer easily obtaining information about police process or family of ML etc. I really enjoyed the pace, the dynamic of solving cases with addition of intrigue - how Ha -Young will turn out after 6 longs years facing the worst criminals, is he gonna burn out or something worse? Yeah, he can come across as a dry character but Kim Nam Gil was really great portraying his inner suffering from feeling too much for victims while trying to put himself in shoes of villains. I liked all the acting and I don't think every role needs to be explained in details (mother can be just a mother), but yeah the female reporter was a bit strange role, but it was maybe cause a director made us think she will play some important part and when it didn't happen, we intrigued why was she written in this show. Overall, from crime drama in recent years after Mousse, I liked this one a lot (I am not such a big fan of Beyond Evil). + After I finished this one, I went to see USA show The Minhunter which is let's say an inspirational source: forming a profiling team, supportive older more experienced agent vs highly inteligent, introverted and a bit strange younger agent plus the adult experienced FL with focus on how it takes toll on all them. I liked both of them, each has its own flavor and both are based on real cases which happened in their countries: mindhunter is more raw, more real in portraying of the ugliness of the cases and in human relationships, Korean version is more softer (very often such cases include deviant behavior, which is ignored) and main leads are much more likeable and gosh, how I appreciate that Korean has ending while with Mindhunter it is open ending.

On I've Fallen for You Mar 13, 2022
The cost of the production is not very high and the story plot is very mediocre, typically towards the end getting down with quality. But it has a few nice points 1) first 10 or more eps are quite funny, 2) acting is ok - all the actors are quite funny. I really loved the main female leads (this is her second role where I saw her, and she is so lovely) plus the other favourite role was a-bit-out-of-space second male lead...but all the 4 leads were very nice and the chemistry between all of them was funny to watch. I recommend this drama in between, or if you don't have high expectation from the story but want something funny, fluffy with happyend.

Up to 21st ep this drama was above my expectation. I liked characters and story plot, especially the love line. It is slow-burn and I was on tip of my toes with my expectation: when it's gonna happen that they will start to like each other. And this feeling of tense waiting or looking forward is quite rare with me, as an old drama watcher I can easily tell when and what is gonna happen. And recently I just love a story where main couple doesn't take interest in each other - here it is a mixture of ignoring each other, not being interested, bit of enemies to lovers and everything is written with a good reason. We exactly know why they fall with each other and how that happen. Yeah, towards the ending it is getting more and more ridiculous (ML crying, FL leaving, culprits), but hey it is almost like that with every drama. Here it was a bit bigger letdown cause it was quite good drama up to certain point. For me (let's not think about ending) it was one of the best Chinese costume/historic drama in last half year.

Yeah, it is silly, but I was in the right mood for this type of silliness, cliché story...but the second half became too absurd even for me. Actors were surprisingly ok, but Lili suffered from bad writing of the character - why did she behave so childish, which was underlined even more with her hairstyles that seemed for very young girls...I get that they want to differ ate in between twin sisters, but it was too much. But as Bixaio FL showed that she can act in interesting way. The reason why ML fall in love with her or was so obsessed with her was ridiculous. I was waiting for a story, which didn't happen, for him to wait for her all his life I expected something more substantial.

On One Ordinary Day Mar 2, 2022
The lawyer never asked about him being guilty, cause since the beginning he believed he is innocent...that his eyes are innocent. I think it would be good if in the last ep Hyun Soo would ask "What about now? Do I seem innocent?" and the reply would "Now, it is hard to say" or just leave it with no reaction. It was a ride, but only for 8 eps to cover 2 plots - law and justice plus descent of the main lead into the darkness is too much...and I really can't get the feet notions.

We are in 2022 and this is still the most visually stunning drama I've ever seen and one of the best ever. I won't repeat all the superlatives that are already written bellow, but there is one thing nagging me and I didn't find a reply even when I scrolled way back to 3 years. Why was the ending sequence of meeting 3 main leads in black&white. In this drama it has to have meaning but I didn't find any discussion. Did it really happen or is it a dream or a possibility?

On 100 Days My Prince Feb 24, 2022
I have seen it already three times. After Red Sleeve this drama probably my next favorite historic romance. (Note historic romance is different from historic drama with heavy politics plot or historic rom-coms. This drama has both aspects - comedy and politics, but mostly it is romance). Great acting, my sense of humor and very nice romance. You can exactly tell why they like each other (we have dramas where leads just love each other without believable causes), I loved how they conveyed liking, physical attraction and slowly moved to love. In this aspect Red Sleeve is similar - there is interesting tension between MC. Before this drama I've just finished Moonshine, where we have similar FL...but there the character was written too over the top where here she seemed more believable. She wasn't refined lady, but she upholded moral principles of nobles. I really appreciated that they didn't made her more feministic, with more modern frame of mind, fighting for women rights as many female leads in historic dramas tend to do. Therefore, she might come as a bit more boring character, but for me she was refreshing and I liked her for it very much. I have seen many crown princes in many dramas, but only a few could pull off the feeling of dignity, elegance and strong presence which came from feeling being above all. Apart from Red Sleeve Lee Yun Ho, Yeo Jin Goo or Royal Nirvana Luo Jin he is the most memorable crown prince. Also I liked that this drama portrayed truthfully that a king has more wives, concubines as well as a crown prince. In recent years this aspect is usually ignored in Korean dramas. Another plus was how I loved all the characters: in many dramas village people are just 2D characters, which are a bit stupid, speaking with accents...here most of side characters have their own backside story and they don't feel just like fillers. The best example is Hong Shim father - I loved how prince slowly fallen in love with him, you could feel unfulfilled longing for acceptance from his own father. Even the villain was great - typical tyran wanting more power because he had difficult childhood (we saw them 1000x times) , but there was one excellent touch - for me almost genius touch - just one sentence "I don't know what more to eat to fulfill the emptiness inside me" which shows his own doubts. It gave him touch of humanity, weakness but he was too determined to continue on his way. His ending (yeh 16th eps was the weakest of them all) was actually really cool. He lived according to his principles and he died according to them, not letting prince to win completely with "I won't live the miserable life you want me to live..." He stayed strong until the end, again we have many villains who are so pitiful towards the end, so I liked this change. Out was also nice. Yeah, it is not perfect, but I believe that after few years I will watch it again :-) 8.5

On Party A Who Lives Beside Me Feb 22, 2022
Rom com without villains, dominating parents and although there is ex-girlfriend, it is not nothing like you would expect. At the beginning ML seems to be our perfect, aloof guy, but this image is later shattered, actually FL is way more cool. I liked the dynamic of their relationship, where she seemed stronger and more dominant, it was a change. An actress playing FL is very natural (we see many over the top acting in this kind of role from different dramas), playful and I really liked her. I am looking forward to her next project. There is no big plot going through the drama, no conflicts, everything solved amicably, which corresponds to the mood of this drama, but it is also the weakness.
