On Light Chaser Rescue Nov 13, 2022
What a nice surprise. Something different from the same plots, similar characters, overly sweet romance scenes (although MC also had them here, I much preferred DingMing couple in their funny, childish sides), which we see in many Chinese dramas. All characters were deeply written, had their own stories, development...my most favorite was DingDing...her character was endearing, not very typical FL or SFL and actress was amazing. Luo Yun Xi acting was as always superb. Although it was a slice of life, it was sometimes too much in sense, that they made it look like no other teams exist. Especially in mountain rescue, we know that FL had to take a flight, so before the team would have arrived, I believe they would be dead or there would be other rescue teams working on it..But anyway I enjoyed the drama. I could feel very hard work in studying rescue missions, which felt realistic.

Very rarely I comment on a director. But here I could feel how much work and effort he put in the scenes: places, light...in this drama there is a poetry which is quite rare in Chinese drama. In many they are trying, but it just feel empty. Plus this drama has one of the best Chinese OST...in recent years I can feel Chinese are improving in this aspect. Acting and chemistry was on the spot. I loved how it depicted subtle nuances, feeling of falling in love for the fist time. There is sexiness but also intimity, everything feels natural. In lots dramas we can see depiction of relationship and although there are kisses, there is no intimity or it is not very believable. To make it so naturally flow, must cost lot of energy from director and actors, kudos for that.

If I like Oh In Joo saw two dead people, then other two almost dying in front of me, and then dying almost myself and basically killing someone by pushing him into the pool , would I be able to feel so happy?

The same story as it is the most typical trope for xianxia...it is liked for reasons, but here it was too repetitive and in 59 eps the couple was never together!!! I know we have additional eps but 59 eps is too long when the main focus is romance. And by repetitivenesss: repetitively she try to be accepted by him, he refused her several times, he had to save her not once but twice, then he tries to be accepted, she refuse him several times and so on.... with similar dialogs. The actors were doing great job, but the story wasn't griping enough... I saw it after Love between Fairy and Devil which has very similar setting: one of most powerful figure, who is aloof and knows nothing about women, fall in love with week fairy. But LBRD is more interesting as the main lead is villain :-)

It is about a squad in army which is on a mission to defuse old bombs on one mountain plus we have a second timeline. How our ML trained to become EOD soldier. Interesting story with good pacing and good actors. I really like ML actor. I saw him in several roles and he has a different feeling (like chameleon) in every role, which is sign of great actor I would say.

One of the best Chinese OST. One of their few dramas which used music wonderfully to built a feeling in scenes. We get to see healthy relationship, characters grow (surprisingly even side characters have development which is quite rare), fluffy romance and interesting costumes. You can feel that they worked really hard on this drama. Both actors suit their roles and especially ML was great. Not all younger actors can manage to pull off role of a demon king with strong presence and bearing. It was a nice change to have a villainous hero on contrary those aloof and powerful characters.

Too many genres in one package: comedy, romance, thriller, crimi...but the final blend seemed a bit bland for me or flat. I could sometimes tell what is gonna be the next sentence, next behavior pattern. And I have just seen some BTS and two leads have more chemistry there.

I...was legit thinking this would be one of my fav dramas of all time. The anticipation I had for the romance...when…
Wow, you beautifully explained my feelings. Such a mature characters, authentic romance which felt real and intimate. I loved seeing them together, how they were changing each other for better. It is very rare to see such a nice and healthy portrayal of relationship where we see real intimacy (kisses are not necessary) in touches, smiles and silly comments between them. And kudos for production: I loved the architecture, how they used water canals (we that very rarely but it made so much ambience), simple costumes with one of the best accessories and could continue on and on...but yeah ending was disappointing, I almost thought that it was written by someone else, so many thing left unsaid. Was his father really the bad guy or was it his brother who tried to sow discord? But I loved the first 2/3 so I gave solid 8.5.

Yeah, I got that they wanted a different ending...that life/your love is what you made it to be and it is not a matter of fate. The idea wasn't bad and with many dramas where ML was injured on behalf FL and then there was happily after I thought, gosh, I would be nice if just anyone made a drama where being stabbed on behalf of your other part doesn't mean happy ending. So I liked idea of this ending, but unfortunately here, the execution was lacking. The concept of drama was a bit adult/racy and then suddenly they switched and we got at the end childish behavior not fitting to characters.

Both main leads were great although a story is a bit lacking. But we have a great chemistry, hot kisses and fluff. I will look forward seeing both leads in their future projects, especially FL acting was great.

Unfortunately this drama didn't had so much success in terms of viewership in S Korea. I don't think their society…
Yeah, I totally agree. I could feel they try to mirror their society shortcomings. And very similar topic but with different feeling also has My Liberation notes.

Wow, so many heavy topics in one drama. It is quite surprising cause Korean drama tends to avoid such things (assault, rape, comfort women), so kudos for that. One reason why I liked (but not always) Korean dramas as opposite to western tv shows, that some of them have really good message. In this case, I could feel that is a lot about criticism of society, especially what we say can deeply scar others. For me very strong scene was when old ajusshi is collecting the paper on the streets, there is passing a mom with her child saying: "You must study, otherwise you will end like him." She wasn't a bad person, but we as people are always judging others and this drama is fighting against prejudice. "You can never know the whole story of person's life, so don't judge...your words can kill." It is quite meaningful.

I really liked how colorful the character were written. We could see so many facets and that's what draw me in. Together with great OST and depiction of Sanpo life. I have never been to Korea, but villages in Japan got similar vibe during the summer. It was different drama and l liked it a lot. I saw this drama after "Tomorrow" and both have some heaviness in them, dealing with unpleasant things, but as this drama is more personal and intimate, I preferred this one.

On Again My Life Jun 3, 2022
I like Lee Joon Gi acting, so I enjoy all his roles...but I must say this drama was one of the less interesting. Lee Joon Gi excels in such a characters, but for a change I wish to see him in a different (=uncool) role - he could be a great villain :-) We never get the explanation of Grim Reaper or why Hee Woo was driven by justice so much. With his character and others, they seemed a bit 2D, had a specific role and there was nothing beyond...many dialogues seemed a bit forced. And the ending was a bit unnecessary. Next sentence contains spoiler: It seemed a bit unreal that all the bad guys would be released.

Ok, story isn't great with many plot holes (once she was drunk and he wasn't), but both leads were so funny, having great chemistry and I loved the small jokes and unexpected reactions from both leads. Yeah, her roles was written to be a bit dumb, but I loved her spunkiness towards ML, it was so charming...having FL which wasn't afraid to express herself and some the scenes were hilarious. I must comment on Chris fashion style here. One of the best in Chinese dramas from present time. Kudos to stylist.

I am not a big fan of these shorter versions, but this one was nicely done. Good pacing of the story.
