So far one of the best Chinese drama of this year, at least for me :-) I saw it just after finishing Starry night and I liked this one much more. Setting was quite novel and therefore a story was much more interesting. Pacing may seems too slow, but I like slow burn, where you can see exactly the moment when they fell for each other (no insta love). Most of character were complex figures with their own background stories and the villain was a very nice surprise. It is correct we didn't get a complete conclusion on everybody but ending was more wholesome than most of the Chinese dramas have. Also the settings and props are done with a thought and much better than your average Joe. Main couple had a very nice chemistry and I enjoyed their bickering a lot. Solid 8.5 for me.

This drama would be better only with 12 eps. The unnecessary murder plot and - a small spoiler follows - return of her mother didn't fit with the rest of the story. It would be much better to see him overcome his past trauma in more natural, healing way. As well as we didn't get any information about him, his life, his family (just we know his father is dead), so it would be more adult-like story for him to slowly open up and overcome the issues. I don't know why so many Korean romances need murder plot? Just look around, so many relationships are struggling due to various reasons, so why not take inspiration there? For example, they really lived different life, so to adjust each other in some ways wouldn't be easy. But I liked the drama anyway - 8.5.

I motaly agree with Sword Snow Stride which I liked even more than Joy of life. In a some way but more down to earth are Six Flying Dragons.

One of a few Chinese drama where I didn't use button forward. Interesting characters, great acting and hero plot with not rushed ending.

I am more a cat person, but the dog was so funny here, I loved every scene where it appeared :-) We have nice acting here, I especially liked actress playing Bom, young but talented. Some of the topic weren't light, but the whole point of drama was to stop us at our life, take a look and check if we are happy, if we just don't blindly live in stereotypes and that it is better to listen and follow our heart, although our decisions might seem foolish and hard to understand, going against mainstream. It was a nice idea, just the murder case was quite unnecessary addition to story plot changing the slow and more contemplative pace of the drama.

The script itself isn't great nor innovative, but there is nice sense of humor and we got nice chemistry of the CP. I really like both actors, it is not easy to act out such a cheesy lines, actually it is quite easy to become annoying character, but FL and ML are both so funny and quite natural in they roles, nothing over the top. For me is more than 7.5 but less than 8.0.

Wow, what a good story with good pacing, masterfully written characters and great acting. To see all those 4 things in one drama is so rare. Another surprising thing that actors are so young, but it was delight to see them display all the emotion and micro expression changes in their eyes. Kudos for that.

What a nice and uncomplicated drama. No typical troupes including no fireworks, no white T-shirt after the first night and no events during confession or asking to get married. Both scenes were simple but gave much more feeling than in other dramas. I also loved that they were falling gradually. In many dramas character doesn't like the other party and then founds out than he is already in love. So from no love to deeply love and they skip many stages, which were shown in this drama. I like you, but you like someone else, ok let 's be friends, or I like you as a person, but probably doesn't like you romantically, all those stages of uncertainty, which is quite normal for budding relationship. For me this was the strongest point of this drama. And it was nice for change to see that ML although he was playful, he was more mature than FL, it was mostly him changing her (usually we have it opposite). ML is rare character although CEO, he is warm, playful, mature and with high working ethic. Oh, and quite funny were those sound effects and OST.

For me the best part was the ML actor. He can act very well, so I am looking forward to his other work. Otherwise plot was weak, full of nonsense and inconsistent. Our ruthless ML for example tried suicide and so...

Yes, he can just sit somewhere doing nothing and exude strong and powerful presence. Not many actors can do that. To name few: Luo Jin as a crown prince in Royal Nirvana, Lee Jun Ho in Red Sleeve or in the Rebel princess Yi Wei.

Hidden gem. We have very novel setting: ML is eunuch and FL already married as concubine, just this point deserves some points, cause it is not easy to come with some new and refreshing. Another strong point are very well written characters, full of deepness, which is not seen very often. We have a badass ML and in a few rest scenes we can see. he is not very good person: for example when a servant spilled water on him, he let him kill. But what set him apart to some similar characters, that we have scenes, where he realize that he lost his way, he doesn't like himself much and that is what our FL is changing about him. For me it was one of the strongest scene when he says cause of her he starts to like himself a bit. And Dylan was perfect in portraying of confident and overbearing character (I can see how useful was experience from Fairy and Devil). FL was so lovely, witty and clever character. FL leads is most of these dramas tends to blindly flight for justice and weak, but here she just wanted to survive, didn't have strength to help others (only if they were friends). I liked this aspect, cause it made a story more believable. Oh, and an Emperor was such an interestingly written villain, one of the best written in dreamland in my poor and very long experience :-) His weakness, cowardice , they made his so repulsive, I don't 't think there is anyone who watched the drama and didn't hate him so much. All 3 actors were brilliant and deserve kudos for roles. As well as costumes and settings. I could feel they worked hard on settings, how rooms were decorated into tiny details: usually we have some things here and there, but here almost every room had distinguished character. Next sentence contains spoiler about ending: It was also refreshing to see that they just left everything behind, not overthrowing an emperor...it was so humanlike. Since beginning he was no hero and she just wanted to live freely, so ending was very consistent with their characters. And the last thing I want to comment is that to have a comedy mixture with a heaviness (we could see how many innocent minor characters were sacrificed without care even by our ML: he was pragmatic who wanted to survive and reach his goal). Many dramas start as a comedy and in the second part they switch genre towards more serious or we dramas who tried to combine genres but with so many ingredients, it just doesn't work. Here, it was perfect mix since beginning, which is very rarely seen and it didn't change, not even towards the end. This drama became my favorite one and I hope to see more of such a quality. The only painful spot are all those missing kissing scenes, which were cut, but I lovit it anyway.

I just saw a few eps, but what a novel setting :-) Our ML is eunuch and FL is a concubine of an deceased emperor. Just for this idea it deserves some plus points. I came from Song of Moon, where everything was predictable, characters included. But here I am hooked from 1st ep.

Unfortunately for me it was too repetitive. When our MC really likes each other in the first eps, that dramas very often has the very same problem. The story itself is driven that there was always someone having a problem (health, cultivation) and being in danger of death and others solving it and we see here a lot. Although I can feel that actors, costume makers and so on put a lot of effort into this drama, it was hard for me to fall in love as we have here all the same troupes: cool, aloof ML and although he is very powerful, he is always getting injured, FL who is brave, weak (in the beginning) damsel in distress...the most interesting part was the story of the sister and the younger demon king which made me continue to watch.

Although the show was butchered, I still quite liked it, mainly cause the main couple. Their bickering and pull-push relationship was quite funny to watch. Both actors were great with nice chemistry. I quite like slow burn and here I can clearly see why they like each other as contrary to many insta-love with no or very weak reason (I met you 18 years ago once and it was so memorable that I didn't touch any other woman although I am 30 years old). I liked how FL was strong, endearing character while ML was somewhat pragmatic but quite upright emperor. As a wise ruler and strong ruler, you need to be pragmatic and sometimes coldhearted in order for the kingdom survive as history itself shows.

For me it is one of the best drama 2022 (still haven't watch Reborn rich). So many new acting faces, but all the actors were suburb and on the spot. But I must say I haven't seen such a unlucky ML for a long time: no father, brother dead, mother ill and he needs to bear her medical fees plus he found also himself sick with limited time, haha. Can he be more unlucky? And yes, I was also wondering where all the adults disappeared - the white hair SL or the pregnant idol, where were their parents? While rating, I have a dilema: it is definitely more than 8,5 but less than 9, kkk.

I have a question. There was a condition that if you meet parents, you will switch back...which really happened in one of the last ep. but Didn't ML see his parents quite often before and nothing happened?

Still haven't watched the episode but for a long time I was thinking that we have some many dramas cop vs. serial killers but why nobody is picking up the theme like Emergency Rescue or Special Police Force, or about Firemen...thee are so many themes but cops and detectives...so it looks it is finally here.
