I must say Chinese dramas are improving. This one and The Ingenious One are very clever, character oriented and well written dramas. In both of them I liked the main hero, cause they were such a complex and many layered characters with their own flaws. It feels refreshing comparing to those perfect ML. I loved that Li Xiang Yi as a sect master was arrogant and bit narrow minded, cause he was typical young boy full of himself. I loved the concept that he fell from the highest point to lowest but it actually made him much better person. Sometimes hard times teach you more about yourself and help you develop, improve. This is actually very strong message which I love. Of course I liked most of the characters, acting was great but Li Xiang Yi with his brokenness, wittiness, caring and indifferent attitude will be among my most favorite characters of this year.

I love this type of cliché story. These are my cup of tea, but as times evolve, grasp of these stories should also a bit differ. To deliver story that is similar to 15 years ago, didn't work for me...it was to easy, concept and characters felt shallow and too cringy that sometimes I've got the feeling that even actors didn't feel very comfortable to deliver their lines. What I appreciated was that as many rom-coms it didn't change towards the end to have more dramatic and serious vibe, but stayed loyal to the concept.

Wonderful drama, especially the first half. We have here typical story of rich playful noble meeting a great lady which changes him for the good. Sounds as many other cliché stories but what is exceptional about this one: execution. Characters are so well written and acted, we clearly understand motives, what slowly changes characters, what make them tick and we can see it step by step. It was amazing to see both FL and ML to bloom, then both of them were crushed and slowly risen again. I wish we had more dramas of this caliber, where also settings and costumes are so elaborate.

The drama is quite ok, but I have read many novels of this type, so the story itself isn't captivating anymore. When a hero always win, always know what to do with no unce of stress, doubts, it is kinda boring. I would actually love to see this type of drama, where it would me more angsty, bloody, hero would loose from time to time, cause it is natural in life, where he would be doubting himself/his task/revenge, where he would have to go through his first kill and what it does with a person (it was beautifully shown in The Ingenious One with one of SML), as he would go through first battles overcoming fear and so on.

I was so surprised that I also enjoyed the second season more than the first, what a rare sight.

Very clever story, great settings (costumes and rooms), music, acting and very interesting characters. Not quite good or bad, with their weaknesses, I haven't seen such a colorful and complicated characters for a long time. I lid the psychology and also building the scene with just a mere shot of their eyes, you could see them thinking...for me it was one of the most clever Chinese shows.

Finally, there was a fireman story instead of cop vs. murder. There are so many interesting professions, so I liked the settings. It was quite fresh. The story, especially the first half, is enjoyable then it got a bit over the top...FL saving him from fire or earthquake, kidnapping etc.. I really liked FL acting. She was so great. Looking forward to seeing her in other roles.

It is the term used for Korean historical drama...although this was more like fusion style.

Sageuk is my favorite genre, so I tend to be more critical. Best thing about this drama is acting of ML (top-notch) and his amazing voice. The story itself didn't grab me but I think the more serious vibe was really good. I wish there could be a drama without comedy aspect, more with focus on historic aspects (habits, rules, etiquette), so princess going in and out of the palace, living her own life outside, it didn't work for me. I don't deny that I like stories with kings and crown princes, but I could be interesting to see a story of ordinary noble or a man, living within the means of society, struggling maybe...with social rules.

Joy of life is my favorite and I like Sword Snow stride even better.

Unfortunately another Korean historic drama which didn't work for me. Too many things done on effect, too many illogical plotholes, like for example you go to your enemy and tell them your weakness (do not touch her). Just why? Without doing this, she would be much safer...and I could continue on and on. This is my favorite genre, but in the recent years I must confess that surprisingly Chinese are much better in this genre. I am missing the great work as The Legend, Six Flying dragons or 100 Days my prince.

One of the best rom-com of this year so far, Korean dramas included. I liked the sense of humor, good acting and chemistry. Although the story itself is a bit repetitive, cause ML is trying to win over FL three times. It is also a story about women strengtht and empowerment in working environment. Topic of sexual harassment is quite surprising for Chinese drama. Anyway, especially FL role was written interestingly and she is among my favorite FL of this year. I notice this in their last cooperation, ML has one of the best style in fashion in Chinese drama, but this time I also liked Min Hui sense of fashion: we finally got a woman who looked fittingly to her job status, had adult feeling and I liked her shoes :-)

It was a nice to idea to make a story about mundane, everyday life, cause that is our life. Not every love story is full danger, hidden enemies...so I really liked the concept. But why we have so many dialogues about nothing important, or it repeats, for example he is washing his clothes for a long time. So for me the pacing and almost no story is weakest part of this drama. Yes, characters were evolving, changing but we didn't need 30 eps on this. Also if you decide for such a concept, why to choose him such a exciting job and that you make it quite uneventful?

Actually 100 Days My Prince is also my favorite one, I just didn't write it down, cause I thought it would be too much names, but those four are my tops from recent years. Number one is The six flying dragons but it isn't easy to watch as it has heavy politics and many layers and characters.

I am a sucker for sageuk dramas, but unfortunately in the recent years I have been mostly disappointed. In this aspect China is a bit better. Of course there are several exceptions like Mr. Queen, My kingdom and wonderful Red Sleeve. Here I wasn't expecting much as we have a typical trope of a crown prince and crossdressing FL, but surprisingly for me the story had me hung up on each episode. The story itself isn't like "wow", but it is enjoyable in its own way. What I think was a missed chance that we never had a moment when FL or ML realized that they fall in love like in Red Sleeve. The 30 days confinement was a great missed chance. Oh, and I liked the deep FL voice and funny laughing of Myung Jin:-)

The FL actress acting is amazing. I just found out that she is also Tae Al Ha from Arthdal Chronicles. Every time I see her, she has a different vibe, which is not easy. Most of the actors/actresses can't do that.

I rewatched this and was wondering how I would feel after many years. It is typical stereotype drama rich man vs. poor girl, but it has nice vibe, good acting (FL) and passionate tango dance. The emotional scene were nicely done, it didn't feel that director just want to manipulate my emotion (like it is in many newer dramas) but they were meaningful for the story. There are still very little drama that can take you on roller coaster like this one. Although older, typical settings, it still has something going for it, so for me solid 8.0.

I just don't get that they are rich, so we she left for treatment alone and he is waiting? If you have money and don't need to work, I would expected him - and the role was written that he loved her a lot - he would accompany her to treatment. Why wouldn't her take care of her? This nonlogical thing we can see in many dramas, why there is need to copy it, is beyond my reach, when fans of the drama would me more contained with HE...just for the sake of us being on emotional road??? And I must comment of superb acting of FL, every micro emotion could be seen on her face...she could be sweet, cunning, sexy, innocent, her crying scene in bed was amazing. Great acting for her age, on the best, which I saw in these types of dramas.

Cold and aloof heavenly crown prince and warm hearted spunky female lead who is supposed to be ban of the world. From the beginning of the story premise of the story is set as many other stories: that she has to die in order to have a safe world. I have seen so many dramas with the very same frame of the story, that although here we have a good acting, good costumes and props, it felt a bit flat, boring. Should I compare it to Cold on warm night, that one is much interesting because of novel setting. Why is it always crown prince or god of war, when there could are so many other interesting stories and characters, for example Love between Fairy and Devil. In that aspect the second couple was much more interesting. And just once, for once, I would wish to see the supreme ruler of Heaven to be really just, great god, but we mostly see someone shortsighted, narrow-minded, even a coward and when there is huge catastrophy, he is always standing sideways, or he is biggest villain of all. Let's hope.
