The first half was so hilarious, I really loved the sense of humor. Some of silly jokes were one of the best I've ever seen in dramas. It is a shame that later it shifted focus on more serious things and it lost its uniqueness. A bonus was that ML was imperfect and that basically didn't change even at the end. He did grow up more as a person, but remained a bit goofy, silly, lazy...himself. He was refreshing male lead character. Also I could feel that not only Jian Ci but also some of the other actors were really enjoying themselves in roles, which is nice to see.
Someone please confirm to me that the romance isn't going to be between Xiao Yao and Cang Xuan . I am at Ep1 and…
The ship between cousins never sails, although he loves her. But he knows if he wants to be a king, he will need a lot support, therefore it means many wifes. He saw example how king of Haoling decided to have only one wife, lacked the support and it brought rebellion costing lives of many civilians. Therefore although he loves Xiao Yao, he knows that he can never be with her for the greater good.
Sorry, it was two years ago and since then I have seen so many other dramas. It might not be a good ad saying I have no recollection of this drama :-)))))
Wow, I liked how they avoided many clichés. Her ex-boyfriend was a very nice guy (in some aspect even better than our ML), how ML asked her to be his girlfriend (just above a bowl of food sitting in a dining room, so no flowers, fireworks) , how after night together there was no white shirt and I could continue. Acting was very nice. Seven is always great and finally it was nice to see Xu Kai in some more interesting role showing different scale of emotions. We know he can act, so I hope to see him in more versatile characters.
Does anybody know name of the artist making costumes? One the best ever I've seen in the historical drama. The style looks a bit similar to one seen in Rebel princess. Amazing quality in details, cuffs, pearls, jewelry...combination of colors. I loved it was derived from real historic clothes but spiced with modern feeling. It shows great deal of work put into it.
Great OST, not many Chinese dramas have a good music, it really helped to build the feeling in scenes. Also great costumes, especially those for males and ML, you could feel quality of textiles. It gives authenticity of being noble. And of course great acting and I loved that we could relate to characters, could understand why they are doing this and that, for me overall great 8,5. (therefore one of the best Chinese dramas of this year so far). I could do without the last scene (hand in blue), cause I think there will be no second season. It was just unnecessary and I don't think even producers have in mind, whose hand it is. It was just a teaser for our poor souls.
For me probably the best Korean drama I've watched this year. I quite also like Knight of flower or Killer paradox , but I was more engaged here. Still haven't seen Death game.
This drama is an okay watch overall. My biggest problem with this drama is pacing. Its dead slow. Especially last…
haha, I am quite opposite... I liked pacing: it was not too slow or quick, we had time digest the story and to prepare what's to come and there were no dull moments.
What an interesting villain, quite strangely portrayed but it set him apart from similar characters. He, Queen Park, lady Dong and a small prince were great at acting.
Great chemistry, I really like our couple together. FL was endearing, ML and his longing stare doesn't need more comment and we've got a very good villain. His way of speech had to be draining for the actor but it gave Chôsan interesting twist. Very nice drama. Oh, and shape of ML face/head is so fitting for historical dramas :-)
I appreciated that FL clothes were really fitting her role as a working lawyer. This is quite rare to see it in Chinese dramas. Also that the main problem at the end was not the external forces/people but it was themselves and their different opinions on world...which is very natural in relationships. In some aspects it was quite mature romance.
Great acting from both leads. Especially from Fl, her emotional scenes felt strong and natural, including being drunken. Many FL when drunken, the y feel quite unnatural. So many emotional scenes had to be draining, kudos for that. I also appreciate small details like not having yellow umbrella but black, after spending night together FL is not in white shirt , the biggest problem wasn't villain but his identity and what stems from it. What was unnecessary: trio at work, why was gang even there and is there a rule that secretaries have to always fall in love? I could do without these things as they were just comedic relief, not very helpful to main story. But I quite enjoy it anyway, maybe also cause music was great, it greatly helped to create the ambience..
Somebody thought it is funny idea to make a couple where a man is fearing dogs and a woman changing into a dog, while she must get kissed back in her dog form. To make a two-hour rom-com movie, the story could be fun, but for 14 eps long drama it is quite weak. No story background of characters and basically we only get few info even about main leads (fear of dogs, nice teacher, like his nephew, was bullied) so unfortunately it felt so flat, especially compared to so many great characters from 2023. Also I don't know why there is this trend in Korean dramas, but people dating at the age 30 behaving like teenagers...I have many asian friends from Japan or Korea and they would never behave so childish. It has been really long since I see great Korean romance in contemporary settings.
Dialogues and things just for the sake of comedy made especially characters or some parts of the story hard to be believable. I know it is just a comedy, so no need to try hard with history but anyway some of the details were hard to miss. I don't think a woman from the 19th century would be ok wearing the wedding dress with naked shoulders just after few hours in a new world, not to mention all the short skirts, shorts. I get that she was a bit ahead of her times, but this change was to much, another fine example was beating a man with pillows. I know these are just details but it made me hard to believe that she is from the 19th century. Unfortunately Koreans are putting comedy element into most of their dramas and sometimes it cheapens the story. Typically we have relationship in between CEO and his secretary, it is always comedic element in most of those dramas, but here it didn't work well, the humor felt too forced...and some of dialogues were too cheesy. I gave solid 8,0 cause fantasy, history is my cup of tea and acting was nice.
What a surprise that finally we have a good and wise Heavenly Emperor of Immortals., Usually he is weak and narrow-minded or the bad guy, but finally here he is as he should be. It is one of the clichés in many xianxia dramas. Another one is why always the strong guy when he falls in love basically destroy himself in order to save FL and then when he needs to save the world he doesn't have enough power, so he dies. There are so many good stories, why not come with something new? Nonetheless I really liked our 4 friends together and I found the second couple was more interesting. Acting was nice and Lu Si has improved so much, her bearing (moving and body posture) of Feng Yin is proof.
a question: Did really something happen to FL during her captive time?
Was it really the worst or was it they just touched her but she was able to fight it off with the attacker. Cause at first it looked she defended herself, but later after return to Joseon, when she talks to ML we are getting a different impression..
