it was OK. Skipped A LOT of the flashback scenes since there were a couple or even more in EACH episode. If you skip some parts or fast forward others you won't feel it becoming draggy. 8-10 hours of screentime are enough to finish it. 7/10
Yeah, you have a point. I really didn't expect his secretary will be the antagonist on this one, but i am very…
what i noticed is that most of the kid actors in Asian dramas are 200% adorable. Literal cuteness overload. In this particular drama Youyou also relieved a lot of tension in scenes of the Lead Couple because ML defused his anger in order not to argue with FL in front of the kid. Anyway for the first part of the answer, antagonists play one of if not the most important role in these types of dramas even if they are not Lead characters (for example SML is not the antagonist just a secondary part of a secondary couple). I understand how the extreme scheming and plotting makes sense from the writers' point of view in order to fill enough episodes and enough tragic/important events so that the show keeps on going, its just that at a lot of these dramas it's blown out of proportion. I don't exactly remember the name of the drama (and im home from a 36 hour shift so i dont have the courage to search it) but in a K-drama i watched in the past, the antagonist character literally caused the DEATH of the unborn child of the Lead Couple ON TOP of all the previous problems the antagonist had caused .. (i think it was one character that left the FL's sister handicapped and a few episodes later caused the miscarriage of FL) where you understand that in the final episodes , just forgiving these types of characters is unacceptable, as viewers the satisfaction would be to see them in jail/bankrupt/completely miserable , or at least banished in another country. BUT having such a terrible antagonist in the final wedding scene or whatever, being happy and forgiven is blood-boiling and legitimately makes me rate an otherwise 9/10 drama , as 6/10. Sorry for the long reply but i like conversations. (also im at the train back home from work so i have time to kill) :)
Guys it's standalone episodes, there are many dramas that work like this. Every episode is a different story (school in this situation), and a different 'sin' . It's really creative and cynical . The actress portraying Nanno did a great job and her face really suit the character's vibe. I'd say this drama is a hidden gem. Short compact and well written. 9/10
been rewatching some C-dramas and it was Begin Again's turn. While it could have been condensed in 24 episodes plot-wise (meaning all the important things that happened could easily fit in less episodes), the 35 episode mark gives us a good amount of happy ending, which usually in Asian dramas is a couple or even half an episode long. For example after some 2-3 year gap one of the Lead characters comes back blablabla and at the last 20 mins of the drama you have the happy ending, while HERE it was stretched into 4-5 episodes which is way more satisfying for viewers who see the Lead Couple struggle with all the evil plotting and undermining etc. In my opinion the worse the antagonist characters, the stronger/longer the happy ending should be. In this particular drama the 'evil' characters were not extreme and not a lot, plus they didn't almost kill or ruin someone's life (as usually happens). BUT when that happens and the ending is short we as viewers still have hatred towards characters while IF it was a long ending 3-5 episodes , we could have eased the hatred with the continuous happy scenes of the last episodes. Just a thought.
Oh by the way this drama is definitely a 9/10 for its' genre. also when people rate dramas i wish they can rate it when comparing it to others of the SAME genre. You can't compare a flawless high-budget crime/mystery 16-episode star-studded Korean drama with a fluffy romantic 35-episode C-drama with 1/20th of the budget.
Male Lead's 'acting' is actually not acting. He is the same in every drama he has participated. Just open his mouth and things come out of it in the most boring way, to make him seem mysterious or a badboy or whatever. It's tiring, cringe, and adds zero value to the plot. BUT since Korea works that way and you can milk off viewership % by target fangirling , i see why they cast him. I haven't seen a more emotionless actor for a long time (at least not someone in a Lead character). So basically if you want to surpass Crash landing on you and Squid Game or whichever drama has more than 9 rating, you just need to cast BTS and have 60% viewership. Sad times. (BTS are just an example , i don't dislike them, but since fangirling on K-Idols is so effective its just an example). Also the Female Lead goes from hating to extreme loving the Male Lead in a matter of minutes(literally a few scenes), which makes no sense and there is no build up. That was poorly handled.
The plot is not bad, it's not disproportionately written, interesting characters and well cast actors in each character, from the evil to the good ones. Some flashbacks were unnecessary but it's not a deal breaker. A solid 7.5/10 for its' genre.
could have easily been 24 episodes, at some point it felt like for 10 episodes in a row nothing serious happened and no plot evolution took place. Other than that the last 2 episodes could have been stretched into 4 and give us a better closure but it's not bad or cliffhanger so it's ok. 7/10 for this genre (romantic, youth, school etc) There are no real flaws in acting, but nothing serious either. In my eyes if the budget for this drama was low then it's done its' job.
WOW. For writers to keep a good continuity without getting lost with so many back and forths between past and present is insane. Very good job by all parties involved. Recommended .
good cast, good acting, good writing, even the antagonist characters are well written. definitely a 9.5/10 in the romance genre. soft, smooth and easily watchable in a short time.
Dropped. first 25 episodes and it seems like every single rich person in Korea has 24 hours per day free to just scheme and plot against the Female lead. Giving the Lead Actress or the Lead Couple a hard time and making obstacles for them is a good way to portray antagonist characters or Second Leads etc. BUT when literally every actor on the cast has the role to be against FL it just becomes straight up annoying. If i wanted to see tons of people destroying one person's life i would just go back to school lol. Also there is no extreme chemistry or something to keep you going or believe that the Female Lead will somehow overcome all these obstacles. There are other family dramas that had such strong chemistry/bond and at least 1-2 ultra-supportive characters for the Lead couple, that you thought that somehow it will all work out. But here all i see is the opposite, non-stop. I wouldn't advise anyone to invest their time on it. Even if it DOES get better at some point, it's already 14 hours of episodes and things are as i described. If you have 70+ hours to waste HOPING it might get better, OR if you are a die-hard fan of any of the 3 Lead actors then OK watch it. Go for it.
Im at episode 28... THEY JUST HAD TO DO IT. Why not make it a 24 episode drama and just drag a few meaningless episodes with the typical amnesia plot? It's either amnesia or a car crash or a weird kidnapping that keeps these low budget romance dramas going. It just makes us dislike it more. i dont understand why as a writer you have zero dignity and self esteem so you use cliche overused plot twists to milk off the viewership per episode. The drama is not bad, it's your typical chinese romantic drama. Rich people problems love and business gets entangled bla bla bla and in the end love wins all prejudice and all illnesses . We've seen it we know it we decide to watch it. ITS OK. But the clear use of what i mentioned above is just BAD. 7/10 up to episode 26-27. 4/10 after that.
Male lead is poorly written and even worse executed. I don't know if this person/actor(?) have done a lot of dramas…
OK as it goes on its worse. last 3 episodes especially. Treating Female lead like trash and not saying sorry, then just holds a press conference to admit his wrong doings and now we gotta feel sorry for him with your sad music scenes and him staring blankly? What a mistreatment of a script. Second Male Lead was kind and helpful all along and we get no satisfaction for him, i;m not saying he should be with Female Lead as a couple but he is just an accessory. There were many ways writers could have handled the whole redemption for hurting Female lead for so many episodes but they did the opposite. 3/10 at last.
Male lead is poorly written and even worse executed. I don't know if this person/actor(?) have done a lot of dramas but in this one his acting is just bad. Not bad enough to make the drama unwatchable. Second Female lead is well written to serve the purpose of the villain but also the 'actress' don't seem to make us feel things. Hatred in this case, which is what you should feel for the antagonist that schemes against the Main role. It's just meh. Not villain enough. Second Male lead could have had more screen time and maybe make the Male lead more jealous if you want to spice things up, because just relying on the blind love of the Female lead (that comes out of nowhere, just develops quickly and unexplainably) is naive and can't hook the viewers. Again it's definitely not unwatchable. A 6/10 maybe 6.5/10 if you like some of the actors. CORRECTION BELLOW. 3/10
i don't understand why Asians in general like this , Female/Male lead's mother or sister or grandmother being extremely scheming and cancerous to the point of ruining people's lives and endangering the health of others , narrative so much. It just makes your blood boil because you already know in the happy ending these people will STILL not get punished or revenged upon. There is no closure so what's the point of elevating our blood pressure with no satisfaction in the end?
If you are so untalented that you need these types of characters to keep your storyline going and can't write solid 16 episodes without stupid misunderstandings and schemes, AT LEAST make a third party or a love rival or a business rival do all these bad things to the Lead Couple, that way at least we can get some satisfaction when the evil doer gets sent to jail or goes bankrupt or whatever.
This drama is an example of it, not the evilest or whatever but after watching 400+ asian dramas i had to verse this thought.
6/10 , it's also short so you wont hate yourself for wasting a lot of your time watching this. I'm literally scraping the bottom of the pit in asian dramaland so i didn't mind watching it but there are at least 80-100 ROMANTIC dramas that you should watch before starting watching dramas with this level of quality etc.
Just search top romantic K-dramas or C-dramas for starters and at least 8 out of 10 that are recommended in each list are solid good romantic stuff. High rated dramas that were actually pretty uninteresting and just overhyped are only a handful so don't worry.
https://controlc.com/d6a154b3 At this link just press Ctrl+F and search for the thai drama you want, it has a lot. Sapai Import is there and the Netu links for it work with good quality and subtitles.
I've been watching mainly Korean and Chinese dramas, but since i found this, can anyone recommend more like it? Thai dramas that are this genre? It has romance , some comedy and a dramatic story all in one. Thanks in advance
thanks to Park Min Young for making me discover this masterpiece. i usually write long comments explaining all the positives but really.. JUST WATCH IT. Given WHEN it was written/produced and what a story it had to present, its a 10/10 easily.
Very well executed. Very well written. No unnecessary twists and misunderstandings to drag for extra episodes and then have to rush in the final episode to put a closure (like it happens in a lot of Kdramas). -The rating is already high but i believe it should be as high as Crash landing on you etc. -I can't really find negative things to say about it. Even the music, which i rarely comment on, was good (not too loud and not randomly put to fill voids). -Maybe you can say that there are no scenes with intense romance but still i think romance is achieved smoothly and proportionately. There are no extreme swings in feelings neither from Lead couple nor from Second or Third leads. -I don't know the details of how much actors get paid and all that but having watched at least 100 Korean dramas i'd say even though the cast is not Top-notch (in terms of pay, because their acting is really good), the actors don't fail to deliver. -Kudos to writers , casting directors and whoever worked on it. -Clothing director and team also did a good job which is HARD to be noticed since people care about the story and the actors etc. Honestly i might not know fashion very well but dressing the Female lead the way they did, made her seem like not a Cold rich CEO or someone that cares about image, also figures such as FL's dad who was a strong political figure was well dressed in occasions where they wanted to showcase his 'human' side while drinking soju with friends etc. ~~~This drama shows that as long as you have a good story in mind, you don't need fancy settings or expensive cast or big shocks/plot twist , to make a success. DEFINITELY 9/10 as a drama overall, and for Romance genre at least 9.5/10.
