yes it's wholesome, yes episode 3 is indeed a masterpiece. YES you should watch it.
Only flaw is it's not longer. That's how enjoyable it is to watch.
Hidden gems like this are the reason we all dig through kisskh all day long.

very promising throughout all the way BUT very anti-climactic ending.
Our main character gets no real redemption , the a*hole characters do not get punished, and we see Saeki Seigo live AND win the Chairman thingy. YIKES.
Nekota character was well written and well cast.

WOW what a coincidence. I just felt the urge to rewatch some of my favorite dramas during the weekend, and i felt a craving for Suspicious Housekeeper. After rewatching it i came to kisskh to check what some of the actors are doing nowadays and found out that it was Choi Ji Woo's birthday. What a nice coincidence.

if you also keep in mind that it was aired in 2013 WOW. just wow.
I don't see a flaw here. from acting to plot, to music. just wow.
BRAVO to anyone that worked on it. not just the actors.

ALSO i think when anyone tries to introduce the Korean drama culture to their friends, without wanting to show the Korean gimmicks (the love stories and the shocking twists on Kdramas i mean) , then this is one of the first shows to recommend.
It can stand tall easily next to american dramas.
Top 5 Kdramas for me.

rewatching and just remembered why i hated it.
Everyone treats the FL like trash and ruin her life without reason, the female antagonist as well but we are supposed to think it's ok because SFL's family wasn't as affectionate as FL's?
Does that justify all this constant bullying towards FL? yikes . poorly written.
Also no redemption and literally NO REVENGE or punishment against SFL.

it's different from other versions in some matters.
It would be really high among the other version if:
1) the ML wasn't the biggest a**hole in the world. (i know thats the point but in this version he is extra trash)
2) the trash SFL (anna) got punished for what she did. She literally caused the death of the unborn child and got away with it. OH WAIT not just got away with it but also got A HAPPY ENDING on her own little story as well. Poorly written and poorly handled characters.
6.5/10 because of all the rest of the characters/cast. Watch it only if you are desperate .

one more thing now that im watching more episodes of it, how in the world is the FL becoming attracted to him? He just falls asleep next to her in a waiting room and that's a romantic scene with music and close-up scenes?

since its a short drama if no big annoying thing happens ill watch it to the end, but you are right. The obsessed fans make or break dramas these days..
It's not a bad drama by any means, but it's not a top drama like the ratings either.

there is no chemistry between the leads... ML is uninteresting and kind of an a**hole, bullying others for no reason.
up to episode 3 i can't see much potential in their love story and honestly i don't see how FL still cares so much about him.
I'll keep watching and hope things change.

edit: at episode 9 currently , and as others have mentioned before me , there are side relationships or love plots that are more interesting than Main couple. I think that Lee Sung Kyung along with these nice side couple stories and side characters overall, is what keeps me watching the drama. No hate to ML though he is just poorly written as a character and there is no Chemistry between him and FL (or FL actress). I have indeed like him in other dramas so fangirls don't kill me.

nahhh they tried to salvage the love story and the friendship story but both were uninteresting. You get no satisfaction but also no sadness of anything that happens in the second half of the drama. it's a total MEH.

2 more episodes (now at 12) still poorly written drama. ML is just pathetic now. at least he is not evil towards other characters anymore.

not really vibin with how much of an a**hole ML is .(till episode 8 at least)
FL broke up with him so he can pursue his dreams and become successful AND another reason is he NEVER said he loved her when she asked him hundreds of times back in the day.
But all we see so far is FL being tortured and mistreated.
Poorly written so far. If i don't see him hurting and crying OR FL loving or at least dating someone else for a while then it's a 6/10 from me.

indeed. i have also watched around 9-10 family dramas (meaning 100x 30 min episodes) and Once again is top4 for me.
Is ugly alert worth it? i have read good reviews and saw that it has been also remade so it must at least be somewhat interesting!

that's a yikes person if i've seen one.

one more point since im finishing it for a second time.
It is also very satisfactory to have long happy endings like this one, it's around 4-5 episodes long and gives plot completion to all characters/couples so no matter which character was your favorite or which love story you rooted for, you get the happy closure!
Very good compared to the majority of rushed endings just in the last episode, even maybe the last 10 mins or so in other K-Dramas.

its been months since i watched it and am currently rewatching it.
It is really difficult for a story to be consistent and proportionately interesting in the span of 50 episodes (yes its 50 x 1 hour, or 100 x30 mins as it says here).
The big backstory of the father of the family could be handled a bit better but each and every one of the characters in the family is interesting. Even the evil characters like the mother-in-law and the fake sister of the Father etc.
Only the Mother of the family is extremely annoying and adds zero value to the story. Seriously the overused annoying ahjumma saga is becoming really tiring, thank god the rest of the characters/actors carried the drama.
The rating is indeed justified and if you fast forward some of the scenes it's even rewatchable and enjoyable.
Also this is the second best old actor performance in a family drama in my opinion! Bravo!
(first is Kim Yeong Cheol in 'My father is strange' , especially the court scenes at the very end are top notch acting!) just a recommendation if u like this drama to watch My father is strange aswell
