Let's get this corrected: Lin Yun is not new actress while Bao is a newcomer, she has been acting since 2015-2016 as a movie star, much higher status than anyone else in this cast (except for Ms Hong Actress, she too started as movie star)
And If you want to justify her acting, please do Lin Yun a favor, at least revise and omit A Dream of Splendor and replace it with Les Belles (where she has improved). Her acting in ADoS is terrible.

If a platform is willing, her agency can sell her performing right to platform which takes an additional 35–45% cut from the artist’s fees, for everything incl. endorsement etc. Signing with platform guarantees steady roles and promotion to FL, and still allow to take non platform drama. if a newcomer like Bao is landing strong projects with good pairings, it means the platform and her agency see potential and willing to promote her.

LYX's best performance so far is in the ZDL arc. This drama feels too easy for him compared to the complexity of TTJ in TTEOTM. I expect his real acting highlights to come in later episodes, esp. when he’s about to return to the celestial world.
Among 6 key characters + Jeremy: • Allen as Liu Yan had me unsure at first—Liu Yan is a complex role—but he’s doing pretty well here. • Ao Zi Yi & Bao are both perfect for their roles, esp. Chi Yun. I can’t comment beyond WoF. I did hear about criticism of Bao’s acting; for me, they’re young actors who need more experience. I wouldn’t watch them as FL & ML until they’ve gained more experience. • A Shui’s character isn’t demanding, and it fits within Lin Yun’s acting range. • Xiao Shunyao has played similar characters before, so I knew he’d do well. • Jeremy and Chen Yao always nail their roles—I’m confident they’ll do well here.
We have many others with strong presence: Yang Shi Ze, Bai Shu, and Jiang Zhen Yu (Ms. Hong). The weakest actor here is the one playing Yu Furen.

Imo Liu Yan’s answer should’ve been Fang Zhou. His hatred toward TLC—aside from being manipulated by GMD & FZ misunderstanding—stems from a deeper sibling jealousy toward A Li started back in the ZDL arc. Fang Zhou’s favoritism toward A Li was obvious, and Liu Yan definitely picked up on it. I hope in later ep they show why he said it is TLC.
It’s only halfway through, but I know I’ll be spoiled once this drama ends. With its fast pace and complex plot full of foreshadowing and reversals, a perfect cast without annoying performances (except for you, Yu Furen), movie-level CGI, beautiful costumes, and stunning fight scenes. The best villain troupe I’ve ever seen in a C costume drama—each one stronger than the last.
Yesterday’s fight scene between TLC and Hua Wu Yan was beautiful. From King Sword City to Billou Palace, and now Fengliudan, we’ve had so many sub-climax battles—and we’re only 55% in! Looking back at the Billou Palace war with its 5 heroes vs. 5 villain setup, I now remember it was inspired by League of Legends, which is played in a 5 vs. 5 format. That’s why we saw LoL champions promoting the Billou Palace war. Tomorrow is the LoL world final, and LYX, the LoL spokesperson, will be attending as a commentator. I hope he gets to promote SLY (though maybe it’s not the right moment)
