Watching this for the first time in 2021 and I still can't believe I'm watching so many great stars in one single drama, even down to the supporting roles, wow. And they didn't filled the cast with those names for the sake of ratings or attention, it was the brilliant script that required such talent and I think they delivered it flawlessly. The siblings were all very loud, messy and fought each other most of the time. I get that some might think their acting was over the top or annoying, but I think it was very raw and humane. And their character developments were all worth watching. Each episode had its own value, precious moments and solved a different problem. An excellent and classic slice-of-life indeed.
Sakura Shinjuu (さくら心中) literally means "Sakura Double Suicide"... And looking at that poster... Half of me want to watch it, the other half is telling not to lol
Kase's finally got the theme-song treatment this episode!! Good job Kase-sannn!!
Also the way they're trying to divert the attention to Kase in that 5 pen owners scene lol hell no I ain't falling for their trick this time. That little prick Masanobu, my doubt is now 90% on him.
The cinematography, the scenery, the music are all utterly beautiful. Everything is so poetic. I find the pace…
Oh and apparently this was Yoon Seok-ho's first movie? He was the director behind the big 4 seasons K-drama (Autumn in My Heart, Winter Sonata, Spring Waltz, Summer Scent and Love Rain) lol no wonder why this movie is so romantic. I think he did a great job with this one though.
Also if you're planning on watching this, I suggest watching in HD if possible. I doubt anything below 720p could pull off the beauty of all those leaves in the wind.

The movie felt like when you sip a good hot coffee, slowly warm you up, nice fragrance and a little bitter aftertaste. Like a warm hug and then a punch in your heart. I loved it.
"Why do beautiful things always make me so sad?" "Because they will disappear soon."
edit: Ohku Akiko tweeted that if she has to describe this drama, it'll be "Suspense x 3, Horror and Romance". I know it might be a joke, but I kinda want to believe her lol
Wow... as I watched I felt like I was intruding their private conversations but I couldn't help but stay for more because it was so intriguing. The things that were left unsaid and the feelings that were poured into words, the dialogues were all very masterfully crafted.
Ever since this movie got screened in film festivals, it’s been earning rave reviews all over the film communities on my twitter and letterboxd. It’s not very often to see a Japanese movie get that many praises and recognition from those cinephiles and critics you know (the last time it happened was Shoplifters (2018) I think). I want to see this movie so badly but unfortunately it hasn’t been available in my country yet. If you have a chance to see it in theaters, please go see it!!! Support it!!
i'm glad they still keep the family mukbang segment in the drama and even upgraded it in E07 to keep the episode not too heavy. heck, those were some delicious looking gyudon bowls (and the bowl sizes were different for each of them, so cute xD). i'm definitely gonna order some gyudon for tomorrow's dinner.
The script is very witty and cleverly written. I really love that bit about the cheese bread and how they joked about it through out the episode lol dark humor indeed.
Although the entire movie was set in a piano competition, it felt like there was no competition at all. I literally didn't care who would be the winner, and I said this in a good way. The only thing this movie made me root for was that the 4 characters can do their best in their performances until the end with no regrets. That's why it still managed to feel so intense everytime they got on stage. Beautiful movie. I greatly enjoyed it. Really loved the piano under the moonlight scene by Aya and Jin, their chemistry is very pleasing to watch.
If you're wondering why a movie with 3 big names in the cast is so unpopular, I can tell you it's because it's not for everyone. Personally, I think it's a very well made movie. Cleverly directed with stunning production design and great performances from the cast. Plot wise, don't let the synopsis fool you. If I have to put it down, I'd say it's more about freedom than about sexual relationships. Anyway, I gave it a 8/10.
It needs no reason, just 10/10.

And Matsuoka Mayu is simply amazing.
