FL was betrothed to ML before they were borned. Then FL was sent away. So her oldest half-sister took her place. But she (the big sister) died from a poison meant for the ML. They have a daughter, but according to some viewers, the little girl was adopted. Meaning ...... he could still be a virgin :D

I agree to everything you say here about the ML. You're right on point about his character. He's such a grey character who doesn't play by the book. His moral standing is in the grey area, eg. he commits crimes even he knows it's illegal. But that's the whole point about these grey characters. Their mantra is, "when you go low, I go lower". This applies to the FL as well, as she's also a grey character. She has tried to kill him, just because she doesn't want him to leak her secret. So for me, I can't hate the ML because that's the intrigue about the story. Unlike the perfect MLs in many dramas, our ML here is not perfect and full of flaws, as well as the FL-- and that's why they are the OTP.

I don't understand: Chen MoMo saw the hankie was given to Zhuang Yu Shan. Why did Ruan Xi Wen still used it with no suspicion and Chen MoMo didn't throw it out or wash it first? Even Fu Yun Xi could smell something wrong with the hankie, why didn't Ruan Xi Wen or the Princess notice it?

Also I believe it could be a gene thing. Both her parents were scholars. Her mom was said to be ultra intelligent. Her maternal grandpa was the dean of the Hanlin Academy.
