FYX investigated Pei for corruption and tried to take back all the money for the emperor. His investigation got very close to FL's father (his own father-in-law) and he still couldn't get any evidence to prosecute him because FL's father is very cunning.

FYX is FL's brother-in-law. He married ZSY's oldest daughter (FL's half-sister). The dead man was just a front man for Pei who was an eunuch.

I think they let down their guard because they thought they could go free from now. Though the father has used poison to kill before, only FYX was suspicous (but has no evidence), the others never knew, not even ZHY.

I believe, no matter what, the mother has to die. The writer would make sure she dies under the father, one way or another. This is the only way to stir up rage and revenge for ZHY, without which, ZHY would have left town with her mother, and end of story. 😉

If you mean romance by kissing, almost zilch! Basically this drama is about rage and revenge. Though there's some love interest between the couple, it's not like they sleep together all that. Many viewers complain there's a lack of romance. For me, the romance is just right, not the fluffy type.
