The summary is actually horrid, I would honestly just ignore it. You can see already in episode 9 when they first…
You may find this one good to follow. Not much physical actions, but everything comes from words and hints within words. Need to pay extra attention to everything said. No fast forward for sure. I find it so intriguing because of the way they speak, so poetically and uses of symbolism to indirectly hinting at things.
I hate nasty empresses and harem women scheming against each other too, but there's none here. The Empress is intelligent and kind. So is the Emperor. In fact, this is a drama with a lot of depth. Great watch!
It's not drama of the year, but it's not too bad. Watchable.
I'm more into historical, so here goes (in no particular order): - Joy of Life - Nirvana in Fire - The Untamed - Eternal Love - Goodbye My Princess There are more if you want. Enjoy!
Hey nice response! Just wanted to add tho: the reference 官家 to address the emperor was, during the Song dynasty,…
Talking about the term 官家, can you please enlighten me? I notice some wives of the ministers/officials also address their husbands 官家. Why is it so? I also notice they only occasionally address the Emperor as 陛下, but mainly use the term 官家. Historical dramas from other eras consistently address the emperor as 陛下only. Did the change come about during the Song era? Did they continue the practice (addressing the Emperor as 官家) after the Song Dynasty?
Two more comments on men's costumes in this show.1. The cuts are almost uniformly too slim. Too many costume designers/tailors…
Wonderful details that I've totally overlooked. Yes, indeed, Wang Kai would have looked so much nicer in the fuller gown as worn by Chu Junchen, as Wang Kai is so slim and his current gown makes him look "flat" (扁).
As for a Western president not wearing a suit, you're absolutely right; Obama was criticized for not wearing one in the WH during some meeting (something like that).
These discussions are absolutely stunning and so enlightening. Thank you so much!
Watched ep1-7. A few comments:1. The editing was a bit choppy. A lot of scenes were cut right after the last line…
What a wonderful write-up here. Absolutely love it! You have very deep understanding of the Chinese culture especially during that era. and have wonderful discerning eyes. Please post more articles like this and help us understand this drama better. I really love the sophistication in the Chinese culture which happened even more than 1,000 years ago. Amazing!
I know I probably won't enjoy this very much based on comments and reviews here but I'm still gonna watch this…
I really love the self-deprecating spirit Wang Yibo has here and in his normal life. He's always so direct and doesn't think too much of how other people may think of him. He's a pure gem.
Someone said that Yuan Song is bland and I completely agree. It is funny that he is the ml yet his character is…
You're so right about the Yuan Song character. After losing Fan Xing, I was hoping he makes a strong come back, but alas, he's like a deflated balloon. Yeah, I was also disappointed with the lack of character development and such a let down for Song Wei Long as I love watching his youthful face.
Which one is better (in terms of Main lead, Zhang Ming En 张铭恩)? Nice To Meet You or Destiny's love? ^.^
I like both of his characters and his acting is pretty decent in both dramas with that super sunny smile of his. But I like the female character better in this one (Destiny's love) than the female character in Nice to Meet You.
