Don't drop this drama. Actually the Xie Xiao character is just a clown, adding some colors to the otherwise rather serious scenes. He does no harm, except making Lu Yi looking deeper into his own emotion for Jin Xia, and giving Lu Yi a harder push to show his love for her. Some men need urgency to make decisions like this :D

Yes, that LCY character is loathsome. Here on this page, we stabbed him over and over again, so don't feel too bad now. This is a great drama, but be warned, it's also heart-wrenching. Traumatized me for a long time until The Untamed aired; it's (The Untamed) my miracle drug :D

That massacre episode has haunted me since airing until today. I'm still traumatized. What an incredible story and what an amazing drama!

I agree with @DramaAjumma; I like it from the beginning, and I love this FL. I think she is naturally beautiful. It seems we have very different taste :)

I don't see "tragedy" for the tags, so I'm optimistic.

He's not pushy? His hands are all over her. Granted, they were probably lovers in another lifetime, but to her right now, he's just a stranger. If I were her, he would have stab wounds all over his torso XD.

Among others, these three OSTs stand out the most for me:

Yi Nan Ping - whenever Jiang Yanli appears, this tune plays, usually instrumentally (keyboard or guqin). It gives a nostalgic feeling of her by Wei Wuxian. The lyrics explains how painful it is for him in memory of her.

Wuji - It's purportedly composed by Lan Wangji. Whenever Wei Wuxian misses Lan Wangji or when they're together, this tune is played. The lyrics fit right into the journey they're experiencing and the undertone of what their intention for the future is.

Jing Xin Yin - This tune has a few names. Lan Wangji calls it Xi Hua. It's also purportedly composed by Lan Wangji to help Wei Wuxian calm his heart (when he's engulfed by his dark cultivation) and also to help Wei Wuxian heal. This tune has originally come from a very famous tune from the late 1980s. The lyrics (1980s) of the tune fit right into the sentiment of Lan Wanji at the moments when he plays the music for Wei Wuxian, or when he's alone thinking of him.

I believe you're watching the show together with the music, vocal or instrumental. The music part is amazing! It feels as if the visual part is telling half the story, and the other half through music. Of course, symbolism also plays a big part in telling the story.

The irony is: he dies because he tries to save her. And she kills herself. What a waste of Yanxi's life; he shouldn't have saved her.

You're not the only one who doesn't like it in the beginning. Try to skip all the way to the end of Episode 2 when it says, "16 years ago". Start there, and see how you like it. You can always come back to Episodes 1 and 2 later. Come back here and let us know :).

Shoot! How did she get an Adam's apple? Chinese dramas always don't care about details, and they hope no one spots them. Sigh!
