I'm enjoying this drama. The only thing is I don't like how they like to always portray girls chasing after boys in Chinese dramas as if girls are hungry for love and marriages. It's really demeaning for girls and I dislike it so much.

I find myself not a very loyal fan. Previously I fell head-over-toe for Hu Ge, Eddie Peng, Li Xian, Deng Lun etc. Now, I'm like, Huang Xuan who? (used to like him so much) Still like Hu Ge, Li Xian and Deng Lun a lot but I move on. My new favorites are these two, perhaps until the day, another drama that is better than The Untamed comes along. :D
I also realize that what we love about these actors is because of the characters they play. In private, these actors may as well be as assholes as our ex-es, who knows? After all, they're only humans like us. :)
You're so right! Who cares about getting married just for the sake of it and having children just for passing on the genes. Unfortunately, this is exactly the mentality most people in China still have, and hence the in-equilibrium in current Chinese society - more men than women. I have witnessed some of the best relationships between same sex marriages, and some of the worst relationships between hetero marriages. Many hetero relationships may even become violent and lead to the deaths of the spouses. It's just so sad that our society still cannot accept better and healthier relationships for a happier life.

Yah, that's quite true: XZ knew what he got himself into when he accepted the role. I guess he was quite desperate at that point because according to his interviews, he was at his nadir. Actually BL is a taboo for many traditional Chinese families. Xiao Zhan is a very filial pious son, and he listens to his parents and cares about their feelings. We can see pretty obviously despite all the interactions he has with YB, he tries to steer clear. Just that YB is the one who doesn't care or can't help himself. He just adores his Zhan Ge so much.
