Favorite character for this drama? Obviously it's Xiao Feng. After watching this drama a second time, I think I have a better understanding of Li Chen Yin's character, and accept certain decisions he made. However, I still cannot accept, among others, how he betrayed the DanZhi's friendship and trust. I know his bad decision was based on the faked news that DanZhi had assassinated the then Crown Prince. But later he realized that it was the 2nd Prince's deed, he still continued as normal; there weren't any regrets. Having said all this, I find him an interesting character to watch; he is delightful, especially when he is bantering with Xiao Feng.

I'm re-watching this drama, but I have to skip episode 8; it's just too painful to watch.

I think he just wants to make it up to her. He was the one who introduced Li Chen Yin to her. Although he was brainwashed by Mr. Chai from young that he needs to avenge his family's murder by taking down Prime Minister Gao, he feels guilty for taking part in the scheme that leads to the decimation of the DanZhi tribe. Therefore, despite his love is mainly one-sided, he feels that this is the only way he could make amend and be at peace with himself.

Yes, same here. I finished this dramas days before, and yet I'm still visiting my friends here multiple times a day. Still can't get over it. I'm re-watching it now. Realizing I missed out some fine details the first time. I also get a better understanding of the Li Chen Yin's character, and why he made certain decisions. In a gist, he has only one woman in his heart, that's Xiao Feng who loves only Gu Xiao Wu (that's him). That's also the basis of the tragedy.

Be patient. More good/bad things are coming up. Unlike many Chinese dramas, the endings tend to be rushed and shoddy, but not this one. I love the ending, but it is different from the novel.

Definitely, but he was too late (he knew it himself). Should have treasured and eloped with her when he could. But then, that would be the end of the story - no more Gu Xiao Wu whom we grow to love and hate.

I know right? That was one of my first comments too. But don't let that bother you. Someone commented here that she looks like a, urh... , fish. XD. This is a terrific drama. You'll love it, I'm sure.

The story is very interesting. The pace and flow of events are pretty good. It is very humorous, makes me laugh out loud a lot, and yet, it is not the stupid type of funny. It's kind of funny with a straight face which I like a lot. The acting especially by the 2 female leads, Bai Lu and Xiao Yan, is wonderful. They contrast each other and yet bring harmony. It's a joy to watch. You'll fall in love with both of them, not skipping the male lead too. He's adorable as a character.

This drama includes a lot of pop culture. You'll find:
Skyping, swiping (as in using a cell phone / credit card), teleport, invisible people, zombie, mah jong, purchases with return policy / warranty, pharmaceutical research, modern day trading, church wedding (but in red). People also say "Hi".

Where do you watch Japanese and Korean dramas with subs?

As much as I love this drama, emotionally I don't think I can take another tragedy. My heart is too frail to take the pain. I like "happily ever after" type of stories, make me temporarily forget about the reality of life :)

This movie is a far cry from the drama, but perhaps a better adaptation of the novel. The drama, obviously being longer, has more sub-plots, and is more interesting to watch. It also better demonstrates the love the male lead has for the female lead, and vice versa, for tens of thousands of years (wish we can live that long in good health). Being a romance buff, I have watched both the movie and the drama. My verdict is, the drama version is a lot better than the movie.

Aren't we all addicted to this drama. After finishing the last episode a few days back, I'm still back to this forum, seeking solace from viewers like you. Like @Kim MC, I can't let go too.

Yes, the actor is very young and very talented, not only in acting, but in singing, possibly dancing and even playing more than 1 musical instruments. Most Chinese actors and actresses are very talented. Most can sing and dance. Many can play more than 1 musical instruments. China is mass producing talents like this.

Love the way you put it, "Black Belly". This is a new term for me. With this description, yes, Li Chen Yin the male lead, can fit into this label. I think you'll enjoy this drama.

Agree, absolutely. Despite I love the actors, I didn't give a high rating. They tried to build up the story to ...... nothing much in the end. It was such an anti-climax.
