I've had this drama in my Plan To Watch List for a while, but I'm still not sure if this drama is worth starting…
This is one of the very few dramas that has a lot of depth with a few very complex characters, in particular the main male character. After watching it, you'll find your heart ache, you may very well have a love/hate relationship with the main male character, and a very fond relationship with the other secondary characters. You may find yourself thinking about the drama for days, if not weeks (it's been more than 2 weeks since I finished the whole drama, I still find myself talking about it, a lot).

Acting wise, the main leads are very impressive, especially Peng Xiao Ran and Chen Xing Xu. Peng Xiao Ran playing the role of Xiao Feng, was so pure and beautiful. Whereas Chen Xing Xu, portraying Li Chen Yin, was simply incredible - he can be a playful boyish character at one moment, then switch to a cold, scheming personality the next. The palace plot and back stabbing would keep you at the edge of your chair.

The sound tracks are the most unforgettable components of the whole drama - beautiful music playing at appropriate scenes, adding to the sorrow and longing of the story.

This drama should have received a much higher rating than the current 8.4. If you value good quality production, this drama is a must-watch.

Ah yes, I get what you mean now. Let's have a re-incarnation 3,000 years later of Li Chen Yin and Xiao Feng into…
Yeah, I know. This is too easy to let go of LCY. He should receive some sort of retribution, one way or another, to redeem his wrongs. Then only we can forgive him. And at the end, it's a happily ever after story.

So, I'm trying other dramas. Some Korean, some Chinese. Some are funny and others dramatic but none immerse me…
Sigh! Same!

Title The Legends Spoiler
The last scene with the kids (siblings) playing pretend as husband and wife is ...... ridiculous. Why did the director do that?

Although I know the reason why he turned out like this, it still did not give him the right to use other people…
Agree. That's why he's such a complex character that I haven't even figured out up to this day.

The scene of the 1st bro sacrificing himself to save LCY is really touching. LCY was really an innocent and kind…
After watching this video (the missing piece), things begin to make sense to me. Now I understand better LCY's torment - he changed from a happy innocent soul into a scheming ruthless devil because of his hatred.

The Danchi group was not planned but used as a scapegoat by the 2nd prince to foil the investigation.

No, there are 3 groups. The first group from the 2nd prince, the 2nd group from the Empress/Minister Gao (therefore they didn't hurt LCY), the 3rd group from Danchi - bad luck, they bumped into them.

@ninan and @dechen choden were right. They cut out the whole chunk of a very good story. The cut portion tells us how closed LCY was with his big brother, the 1st prince (also then crown prince), how he would save his brother's life with his own, how his brother sacrificed his to save LCY, how he saw his brother being killed right in front of his eyes, why he hated the DanChi so much, and ultimately why he used Xiao Feng to get to the DanChi and decimate the tribe. In essence, while LCY was with his brother, they faced 2 assassinations (planned), and the other simply just bad luck that they ran into the DanChi (unplanned). Watch this video and it helps you clarify a lot of the questions, and understand LCY better.

I have watched the re-incarnation of the main characters of this drama into a modern day setting. However, I would really like to have the table turned; this time, XF should have been the ruthless one and have all LCY's family arrested in prison. LCY, despite hating XF, falls heads over toes for XF. Maybe only so, we can forgive LCY.
