This drama is so serious, and yet super funny. I don't even know how to describe it. Everybody looks very serious as they hardly smile. But then their conversations and actions are out of expectation and subtly funny making the whole thing delightful. It is the small little details that make me laugh and keep me watching. If you are thinking whether you should start watching it, I would strongly recommend YES, you should. It's a wonderful drama! I'm really enjoying it.

Started this drama a few weeks ago. After 4 episodes, I stopped temporary because I was distracted by other dramas. Came to this one again when the others ended, or waiting for new episodes. Didn't realize what I have been missing. This is such a good, intriguing drama. Glad I came back to it again. It is serious, and yet also funny, especially for Lu Zhao Yao and Qin Zhi Yan - their opposite characters make this drama so interesting and super funny. I really enjoy watching it and don't know how many times I have laughed out loud. It is not stupid type of funny, but serious type of funny. This drama is such a delight.

The wedding scene is epic. The wedding gowns for both groom and bride were out-of-this-world, so beautiful and elegant. Having said that, 5th Prince is such a bastard, wedded 2 women on the same day. Feel like slapping him.

I feel the same way. Dong Fang Shi died because he tried to save the woman he loved but who didn't love him. This act alone made him more humane than the ML. Had BuQi disappeared into oblivion, maybe fewer people would have gotten killed. If Chen Yu hadn't died falling into the well/pit, then maybe Xiao Yi Feng hadn't died too. In the end, the ML and FL were both happily ever after, at the expense of everybody else. Sucks!

Agree that the ML and FL are attracted to each other again and again. My only concern is, how is the 5th Prince going to redeem himself? How the 9th Princess's heart be broken all over again when she finds out the truth? Just the thought already pains me.

Considering it came out in 2015, Chinese dramas have improved greatly since then, especially in terms of costumes and makeup. Yes, I liked Nirvana in Fire (1) a lot, better than the sequel. I like Hu Ge. He's one of the actors with a lot of depth. I like the plot and scheming with a lot of twists and turns. I only fully understood the whole drama after the second viewing. I like the simpler unadorned gown worn by Mei Chang Su; it really brought out his aura and uniqueness.
