How ironic it is, because of someone having prejudice against the FL for not conceding to ML affection, are rating…
I believe most people, at least those comments I've read, feel that the writers/director have not done enough work in giving the viewers a more convincing rekindling of the romance. From their first meeting after 5 years, the encounters are basically frustrations. They haven't paved the way properly why the two should be together. They jump everything and give the viewers the proposal and the end. It's like, .... on your face type of feeling. Such a pity because this is such a wonderful drama and they mess up the final 2 episodes. It's a habit by most C-drama writers. Guess they all want to go home :)

The building up is so slow, but I relish every second of it, especially at his ancestral home in Zhenjiang. What an amazing building!

They showed a snippet where a guy was hitting on Shi Yi who turned out to be a relative. Hahahaha https://twitter.com/G_LULINLANG/status/1435543005834797061?s=19
Wonder when Mei Xing would get into the same blunder XD

I think it drops after the last 2 episodes which are not very convincing.
Yeah, it's such a pity because the whole drama has been so good. The last 2 episodes are just not keeping up with the initial momentum and quality. There are so many lost opportunities in the last 2 episodes that the production team could have made this drama so stand out.

Title A River Runs through It Spoiler
Lu Shiyi and Xia Xiaoju got together. Cheng Lang and Lin You broke up. Lin You end up marrying someone else
He is disappointed because he thinks Xia Xiaoju is still in love Cheng Lang; it's just a misunderstanding that has never been cleared up.

The beach outing was supposed to be a down the memory lane trip, but it turns out to be a disaster, though many viewers say Lu Shiyi has achieved his purpose in confirming Xia Xiaoju still in love him. I'm not convinced.

why 8.0? for me, this drama deserves a higher rating.
I think it drops after the last 2 episodes which are not very convincing.

So I really don't love the glasses and the haircut. Why do they make him look like a mushroom head? And the best…
He seems to have the same type of mushroom hairstyle with long bangs in all his recent modern dramas. The hairstyle makes him look even more boyish with his boyish face. Maybe they try to keep him "young" for the girls :)

I think.... wen all the subtitles are out... i can see myself write a whole essay on this drama.. like why it…
For me, I have no problem with the time gap, after all, this time gap is used to help our characters grow, become mature, do what they love doing, understand themselves better. But I find the loss opportunity in the proper development of our ML and FL in rekindling their love. It has not been done properly. It's just frustrations after frustrations, especially from FL's perspective. I guess ML is frustrated too because he doesn't seem to be able to reach FL. The beach down the memory lane is a disaster. I don't see how from there, ML can be assured that FL does love him. The final 2 episodes are just not convincing enough. It's a shame because everything is built up for that moment and they, the production, ruin it. BTW, I'm a native speaker :)

Yes, those are the parts I feel inadequate too - the last 2 or 3 episodes.
- Lu Shiyi's misunderstanding towards Xia Xiaoju and Cheng Lang has never been resolved. Lu Shiyi and Cheng Lang are close friends. I wonder why Cheng Lang hasn't asked Shiyi why he splits up with Xiaoju, and tells him Xiaoju likes him.
- The beach outing. I understanding Shiyi is teasing Xiaoju that he's getting married, but leaving her alone at the beach like that without informing her he has an emergency back at the hospital, how difficult is it just writing a note or leaving her a voicemail?
- The quarrel at the bachelors' party. Knowing Xiaoju is angry at him, can't he try to explain something? Instead he remains as immature and impatient as he was in school. He's supposed to be a doctor now.
