Hm... Maybe both but it just seems to me more like going with the flow. They agreed to be each other's love tribulation on his suggestion so they can make a breakthrough in their cultivation. He was more focused and wanted her to stay in their house with him. While she agreed to his plan, she couldn't ignore the mortal's suffering. I just didn't see much devotion towards the ML. That being said, I think the ML missed the point of going to the mortal realm. He was supposed to experience the sufferings and tribulations of the mortal realm but instead stayed home 😂

I don't think he was able to check in on her. He definitely would have if he could. Either he was facing punishment the whole time or the punishment put him in a coma. But that's just my guess.

How about his pain? The pain of having your lover deceive you and then stabbing your heart? Isn't that also painful? Despite that he still continues to love her and wants to know why she hates him so much. He doesn't turn vengeful like many other drama characters would. That said, I do think the greatest pain is losing a child. I understand her hatred. I don't agree with the means of revenge.

I can't really tell if she loved him in the past or not. ML took the initative as he was the one who proposed doing the love tribulation together and performed other acts of love like Fanning her while she was asleep. FL just seemed like she was going with the flow.

I think what bothers me most about the FL is her lack of genuineness towards the ML. If she hates him, please openly destroy him. Don't repeatedly seduce him and then stab him. But we wouldn't have 32 episodes if she were more direct 😮‍💨

I think the reason for him to lie to her about his abandonment was because he knew she would never let him take her place for the heavenly punishment if he told her. I agree he probably wouldn't tell her afterwards either because he wants to be noble about it however when was he ever given a chance to explain himself anyways? The FL has been trying to kill him since she revealed herself and despite asking her why she hates him all she can say is "because you deserve to die." FL, please actually communicate with him.

I have a feeling their sweet moments will only be a few minutes. More tears, stabbing, and throwing up blood to come 😭
