Miyavi could have told us what music means to him through an interview, or through song lyrics... instead, he decided to make a movie where he goes back to the 80s. Genius. I love this.
I mean, I've seen so many bad western remakes of good Japanese movies, I think the Japanese can have one bad Japanese remake of a good western movie, as a treat.
What makes this movie funnier is the fact that it came out in the same year as the Cutie Honey live action movie, which is also a work by Go Nagai. But while the Cutie Honey movie is actually good Devilman movie is... an atrocity.
I read the original webtoon, The Sensual M (or "Moral Sense" in South Korea). And I gotta say: I enjoyed this movie WAY more! Jiwoo's personality is more confident here, her scenes with Jihoo are not only more "explicit" and less vanilla, they feel more natural and sexy. The movie depicts a healthy and consensual Dom/sub relationship, and with a femdom and a malesub, which makes things much more interesting (to my personal taste, at least). I really, really loved this movie! I highly recommend it to everyone who likes BDSM.
Personally I loved this movie all the times I watched it some years ago and I believe I would still love it if I watched it again (and I certainly will). I love the photography and the things people below are criticizing are actually things I enjoyed about it too. I love revenge flicks.
I don't know why I watched this when I already thought the manga kinda sucked. This movie sucks too but in a different way since they changed the story halfway through it.
What a weird movie. lol I only watched it bc it was in an exposition about Japanese culture in my university, I do wonder why they chose to show this movie tho...
Seeing young Yusuke Iseya was nice though. He almost haven't changed!
Yes, I am a Derek apologist.
