I really enjoyed this. And I'm actually very satisfied with how it ended, I didn't expect them to dance together in front of an audience and I loved it. The Japanese actors' acting was pretty good, but the non-Japanese actors weren't imo, most of their acting felt very awkward, the English speakers more than the Spanish speakers.
Haven't watched this since it can't be found online yet but I read many people saying they thought the soundtrack felt odd and didn't suit the scenes at all, to later find out that it was made ENTIRELY by AI. This is insulting on so many levels, Rohan as an artist would abhor something like this, and idk what Araki thinks about it but I'll be very surprised if he has good views on AI "art". I still plan on watching this movie since I love this series and I love Issey Takahashi's portrayal of Rohan but I'm already disappointed.
actually i loveeeee it so much, but there's a thing that bug me, I never complained or against BL but it just…
You don't need to read all this if you don't want to, it's just an explanation of the time they meet again and the manga sequel.
The manga has an epilogue that wasn't included in the movie, which is when they meet when Satomi is 18. Kyouji had disappeared for 3 years after the karaoke contest and they meet again in the airport when Satomi is going to Tokyo (he'll be a college student). When Kyouji finds him he's staring at his old business card. Satomi says he thought Kyouji was dead, Kyouji says he just thought Satomi didn't need an old man around messing up his youth more than he already did. But that's not the complete truth: Wayama Yama (the manga author) said Kyouji was arrested, and the 5th episode of the anime confirms it (it's an extra episode with things not shown in the manga). Kyouji turned himself in for almost killing the guy who hit his car with his bare hands and was sent to jail for 3 years.
Now, there's the manga sequel, Famiresu Iko, in which Satomi is now living in Tokyo and Kyouji goes to Tokyo every month or so and takes Satomi to eat. One of the main themes of Famiresu Iko is Satomi's struggle to understand his feelings for Kyouji, and eventually (ch17) he figures out that, yes, he *likes* Kyouji. There are still 2 chapters left for the story to end and ch19 comes out in a couple of days (Nov 10). Will they end up together? We don't know yet. Their relationship is... complicated, to say the least. But while Kyouji is common sense's worst enemy he clearly cares a lot about Satomi and doesn't want to hurt him.
(Oh yeah, Kyouji ended up as the "winner" of the karaoke contest, but not the one we see in the movie, the one he's forced to participate right after he leaves prison, and the tattoo he gets is.................. Satomi's name. He shows it to Satomi in the airport, it's a funny scene. lol)
I'm curious, but not very excited bc many things I loved about the manhwa are kinda impossible to be adapted into live action (like everything involving the cat lol).
Had to check this out after watching the anime version. I'm enjoying it a lot, the fact that some things are a little different from the anime only make it more fun to watch. I also love how the actresses who play the bifauxnen girls are all Takarazuka graduates.
To people mad that Monomi is played by a woman: this is literally a campy parody movie based on a campy parody BL manga, it's not made to be representation of gay life/romance/history, it's made to be absurd, ridiculous and funny, and that's done quite well. There's not even a "romance" tag bc there's no actual romance. Honestly, I would be mad for them choosing an actress too if this was a movie that was supposed to be taken seriously, but that's really not the case here. I mean, look at the poster, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy is there.
I just read Chii-chan, Shuzo Oshimi's newest manga, and it ended with a panel saying "to be continued in the movie Doku Musume", now here I am. I hope I can watch this soon.
