"He happens to meet boy Sa Wol, who is a refugee. Sa Wol dreams of becoming a knight, and he admires Knight 5-8. Seol A is an officer in the Defense Intelligence Command. She saves Sa Wol’s life and takes care of Sa Wol like he is part of her family. Knight 5-8 helps Sa Wol become a knight."
So who is playing Sa Wol? He's not mentioned in the cast list.
I mean its not a hint...they literally have the same names and everything like they could've just created imaginary…
Yes, its not a hint. These characters are LITERALLY meant to be (King) Taejong of Joseon, his son who became (King) Sejong the Great and Sejong's older brother.
Am I the only one here that gets and respect why people objected to this?? like if the setting was in joeson but…
I think you need to draw parallels with similar, local issues, to make people understand it. Otherwise they'll just sneer because (to them) the most important thing is their own entertainment. Maybe position it as a 'fictional' world where Michael Collins is a paedophile or Abraham Lincoln is a drug addict or Mao Zedong is a fat drunk.
This would of have been a hit drama :( hoping they will remake this drama or just cut out parts that have to do…
I get the impression, from reading extensively on this, that would have cut out 75% of the drama. There was the 'Chinese props' issue, sure. But the entire story was also an anti-historical take on the lives of (King) Taejong of Joseon, his son who became (King) Sejong the Great and Sejong's older brother. And the controversy was so easily avoidable. Just make the kings/princes fictional ones.
Why do they write FL characters this way - she is a 30 year old woman who acts likes she is 12 and dresses like…
Korean writers (including women writers) seem to go out of their way to write FLs as either childish, thick, and desperate/pathetic (even if they are doctors or lawyers) or aggressive, screechy drunks. Of course there are exceptions but that's their go-to, particularly in low-rent dramas, like many rom-coms.
I get that the glory wasn’t your taste but rating it a 1 when the acting alone was 10+ like come on… that’s…
Yes, it seems weird to me, too that the people who screech loudest about being 'true' fans (whatever that is) and call everyone else 'haters' in that thick-as-mince way are invariably the same people shilling dramacool or similar sites.
Whose faults here?Director? or Screenwriter? Its total mess.Im Soo role is dumb or what!?Why she always play dumb…
Her character is written as dumb. And the actress was cast because she has one of those faces that do 'dumb' well. It doesn't mean she's dumb in real life. Definitely blame the writer. They LOVE making Korean women look thick and desperate.
The comments under such articles made me realize how differently drug abuse is perceived in western nations. It's…
Yes, it amazed me that in Korea "being drunk" is used as a mitigating, rather than aggravating, factor. Like the man who raped and beat a small child but was only sentenced to 5 years because he used the excuse that he was drunk at the time.
I know it's a crime, but I feel so bad for Yoo Ah In. We should hate the sin , not the sinner.
More bizarrely, alcoholism is heavily promoted/romanticised in Korea, despite its strong causal link to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault (e.g. Burning Sun), suicide and other things that devastate individuals, families and society.
And this one would have been, yes, you've guessed it (a) "based on a webtoon" and (b) by the writer of Love in…
I guess it depends on your culture. In mine, a relationship between someone 17 and someone early 20s, wouldn't cause any dropped knitting or the clutching of pearls. Whereas under 16 it's a potential offence.
