so there is a character gay or bi in this korean version?
At least they've kept some gay characters and storylines (though I agree, it would be better if Chun Je In was a kick-ass lesbian). The Turkish version obliterated them altogether.

watched the turkish version and i wanted to ask: the rookie manager will have a romantic relationship with some…
In the French original, the rookie manager doesn't have a romantic relationship (at least in the first 2 series) but I suspect they'll insert one here or the squeakers won't watch it. In the French original the (gay) FL does have a relationship - with the tax inspector - and it looks like they're going to replicate that here with Chun Jae In.

I didn't even know this was a remake of a French TV series ! I'm feeling kinda proud as a French that they chose…
There have been loads of versions. The French one was excellent, the English one was banal and lacklustre, the Turkish one removed ALL the LGBQT+ characters and storylines. This has promise but I need to watch more than 2 episodes.

I SWEAR TO GOD IF THAT IS HER BROTHER IMMA BE REALLY MAD THEY SET UP THE LOVE LINE THATS JUST HELLA WEIRD
Nothing happened. Just a bit of cheesy, drunk staring. In the French original they actually kissed before she found out he was her half brother.

if you didn't like the French try the Turkish one it is a bit different
I did like the French one. So thanks, but no thanks.

I agree ML is very immature. Playing a north korean country bumpkin is fine altough I think he is overplaying…
She made a very valiant effort to out-act a terrible wig in the last drama I saw her in. I like her character so far in this. The SML on the other hand is a massive arse - and not a little creepy.

I really really want some serious flashbacks of the grandma in North Korea , her story is the most interesting…
It looked to me that they were being saved by fellow Koreans (i.e. the people on the boats).

IT IS NOT THAT BAD, I AGREE. But you know what I am fan of the brother, although he always plays jerk role. But…
The 'real' grandson is very attractive, too.

Ha Ji Won doesn't look her age, she looks much younger, noona is very beautiful and one of the best Korean actresses.
It's possible to look your age but still be very beautiful. Ha Ji Wob looks 40 to me - but a very good looking 40.

I agree with you. I loved the French original and was very disappointed by the British version. I am currently…
The stars/clients in the Korean version are better than the English at least. I don't think they should have copied the 'too old for Tarantino' storyline exactly; Korean actors are constantly cast in much younger roles (sometimes hilariously so) so that, with some tweaks - being anti a bit of 'work' needed to change - that might have translated quite well.

Person Im Soo Hyang
Her acting is too stiff , most of the cast in gangnam beauty wasn't that good at acting but hers was really bad.…
The character written for her seemed to be dumb as a box of hair. About 80% of her dialogue was the the word "What?" (I wondered at one point whether there was going to be a big reveal that she'd been brain damaged while under anasthesia). I hope that the actress has more range in a better-written role.

That crab and seaweed dish definitely needed rice or more noodles. Maybe an egg.

Chinese version = dark, mature, complex/detailed plotKorean version = typical shoujo romanceI prefer the chinese…
Yeah, the Korean version is horribly inaccurate - despite all the princes being real, historical characters - mostly, it seems, to feed the cheesy romance aspects . In reality many of 'em (happily) married - and had kids with their own sisters and their was no boggle-eyed interloper.
On Behind Every Star Nov 3, 2022
The English one was very banal - they tried to copy the French one too slavishly and some of the humour only works in context, plus their 'stars' were very B list. I hope the Korean version isn't just another Shitting Stars with no queer representation, twee childish 'romance' subplots and lots of tropes. Though the Korean tendency to make the FL an aggressive drunk should work quite well.

Yeah I didn’t think of this at all but now that you say it i think they really missed up big with this 1950…
But they did make her 6 years older than her huband. As you've said when you corrected yourself the war lasted from June 1950 to 1953 and most of the action (and certainly the fleeing parts) took place in 1950/51, 14 might not have been considered underage in those days - they just needed to pick an actor who looked more teenage.

You are supposed to ignore the actress' real age :)Just like when adult actress/actor portraying high school students…
Some of 'em come closer than others though. The FL in 2521 was a convincing 18 year old. The FL in Jinxed, being called a 'child' while sporting a 30-somethng face not so much.

In the reunification meeting her - now grown-up - son mentions that she was 6 years older than her husband. If she was born in 1930 and the Korean war broke out in 1950, she was 20 and he 14.

I mean I've met 20-something women who look a lot older (too much sunbed, booze or drugs) but never a 14 year old boy who looks 35.

I'm a bit confused by the timeline. Someone who's 92 in 2022 was born in 1930, but she's clearly a lot older than 20 when the war breaks out - and her (N Korea) husband clearly isn't 14. So is the 'now' part set in 2000 or similar?
