When you say "many popular actresses" it really has a two-sided meaning. Because Kim Taeri is A FILM ACTRESS. Not an average drama actress. She started her career with a movie-a hit movie that even went to CANNES, so just like all the other movie actors, she needed to do what was said. I don't know if you know Chungmuro-basically Korea's Hollywood but stricter when it comes to acting and discipline. If you can't smoke, you should learn how to smoke irl just to film that one movie scene. If you don't agree to film sex scenes, fight scenes, etc you get kicked out of the project. Because that is what Chungmuro wants from you. It's been decades and Chungmuro was always like that. And you can't get your fame with filming nude scenes in Chungmuro if you didn't satisfy them with your acting. She got her popularity with her succesful filmography and that's why I disagreed with you at the beginning. BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T GET HER POPULARITY WITH NUDE SCENES. She is a Chungmuro lmao And The Handmaiden wasn't even her first movie.
In my opinion, there is no purpose in living :) We just live, breath, try to have a purpose in life. Have dreams, try to get them real. I hope I could give the answer
She went to the audition for her first movie, became the 3rd lead. Became succesful, won awards. Stayed in the film industry for 4 years, established herself, then started getting into drama industry and that's why. She is more like a Chungmuro than a drama actress.
There was that halal food discussion but then the subplot changed and it was said that a group of muslim people were terrorists during that time and they stopped that halal food campaign bcz of this. And I think it was so unnecessary and rude.
I hope I could just erase my memory or erase the movie called “the handmaiden” from my memory, I used to love…
This movie is one of the most successful movies in Korea's entertainment history, won several global prestigious awards, is loved in Korea as well despite the homophobic majority. And it is what made Kim Tae Ri the Chungmuro she is today. I guess you are just judgemental because of the sex scenes? I think erasing and recommending not to watch a successful part of an actress from her career is too much.
And filming nude scenes for the art's sake is not something to be ashamed of. Both for women and men. The movie isn't even known for the nudity, it is known for the great acting performances, scenario and directing. And it won awards because of these reasons. I don't mind your sexist mindset but recommending people not to watch it without the context just...
What I love about her is that she really can progress. Not gonna lie, in the early of her career her acting was kinda hard to watch but right now, she can carry a heavy drama by herself and we already saw it.
Her movies>>> tbh. Wasn't surprised when I learned that she was already a Chungmuro
I remember watching and thinking it was just a hallucination because I thought I saw Park Sun Woong lol He is…
Today I saw the cut scenes of Jo Yoo Jung by chance and everything about her being the spy started making sense. Tbh cutting those scenes was a foolish decision. Who decided to cut them anyway?
This man has been on my favorites list ever since I watched Memories of Murder and back then, I didn't even have any idea about the Korean entertainment industry. He is one of the best actors I've ever watched.
I don't know what is it but every time I start thinking to rewatch it I usually do and just have fun. It is just so beautiful and dark.
And after rewatching it I realized that I MISS KIM MIN HEE SO MUCH. Seriously, she needs to let that grandpa go and come back with a new director and movies. Chungmuro needs her.
Watching movies and shows about independency makes me appreciate my freedom more. Like... I am a normal human living normally but sometimes forget that people before me fought for that freedom. Considering the complex situation my country was in. People fought, people were tormented, and people died. But we live their legacy.

Btw, I love the ending. It was one the sides of the drama that made me love it more. Kinda painful but so stong and emotional
