Honestly? As much I want TPOB to do well, I really hope Zuer stops choosing scripts where she basically plays an obedient wife or smitten woman to older actors born in the 1980s. She has teamed up with Xu Haiqiao, Xu Zhengxi, Allen Ren, Ethan Juan, LYN a 1987er and frankly, all of these shows haven't done much to help her own popularity even if it boosts the fame of these uncle MLs because she looks underaged and has romantic arcs that Chinese fans can't get into due to the huge age gap and ick factor. It's pretty offputting that she keeps accepting such kinds of roles and the reason why she isn't a liuliang. There are 10283738 edits of her paired up with age appropriate MLs on Bilibili like Liu Haoran, Leo Wu, Xu Kai, Wang Xingyue, Ryan Ding, Dylan Wang, Zhang Linghe etc and her team doesn't seem to realise that they need to pick a ML carefully; the reason Bai Lu, Zhao Lusi, Esther Yu are popular is because their dramas with popular age-appropriate actors like YangYang (WRTW), Dylan Wang (LBFAD), Ryan Ding, Leo Wu (LLTG) got popular. Chinese fans are very selective and will never get behind actresses/dramas that act with "unattractive men" (this is subjective lol) or literal uncles as MLs and have the FL as a tradwife, this is the reason why in China TPOB started to do badly midway and got a 6.4 on Douban. Actresses can only gain liuliang if they take roles that appeal to women, for TPOB although Song Zuer is 1st billed it was LYN who gained most new fans because the whole show was essentially about the ML character being forgiving and the FL falling for him (this arc lost a lot of viewership).

This is nothing to do with LYN personally and his age and visuals are not his fault, he did better than expected acting wise and benefited a lot from having a young pretty FL that attracted viewers to watch the drama in first place and gained a lot of new fans (300k?). Ultimately in terms of acting career progression TPOB didn't help Zuer as much as it could've, for LYN he's at the upper age limit for male idol drama actors (usually in Cdramaland actors will transit to serious/realist roles in their mid to late 30s, or play "older generation" roles like dads, uncles in idol dramas if they cannot make the transition into serious non-idol dramas e.g. career, suspense, family, serious historical without all those idol drama filters) so it remains to be seen if he'll take on more acting gigs because he's been focused on singing since his last drama wrapped 1(?) year ago.

SZE's rumoured to film Tencent's BiaoMeiWanFu with Chen Xinhai in July, the director & scriptwriter are soso and the purpose of the drama is to help the ML gain fans and popularity but apparently this was signed before TDHR aired so she was probably grateful to get the trust of Tencent (there are rumors she's signed part of her filming rights over to Tencent who are currently China's biggest drama platform over IQiyi, Youku, MangoTV) and has to do the drama to 渡劫 even if her fans aren't exactly optimistic about the ML, director, scriptwriter.

Daylight also recently wished her Happy Birthday (she got her breakout adult role of Qiao Simei in Daylight's The Bond when she was still in college, similar to Yangzi getting her breakout role in Daylight's Battle of Changsha) and also casted her in Created in China which will air in June 2025 on CCTV 1, both her Daylight roles are 2nd billing which are beyond what most actresses her age can get other than Angel Zhao or Yangzi (both are also ex child actors). Daylight is one of the most respected production firms in the industry as their dramas are continuously nominated for awards, if they'll work with Zuer there's no reason other firms won't.

Most folks including industry producers think she's a strong actress and one of the naturally prettier ones of her age so she doesnt lack scripts, e.g. among top child actors her age like Yangzi, Landy Li, GXT, Angel Zhao, Zhang Xueying, she fits costumes roles best and can play an ancient beauty without Cnetz mocking her unlike other actresses? The overall consensus is "Those who are prettier can't act as well, those who are better at acting aren't as beautiful". However she's not a liuliang like Esther Yu, Rosy Zhao as she's not too active on Weibo, Douyin, XHS (child stars who grow up into adult actors tend to avoid too much social media in order to market themselves as serious actors, Yangzi became a liuliang due to xianxia dramas not social media) and doesn't interact with fans much. IMO it's a pity that her dramas were both airdropped and delayed for years so they couldn't market it as planned, she would've gained more liuliang if they promoted normally.

She's always done both realistic dramas and idol dramas like Yangzi, IMO she should keep challenging herself by taking harder roles in realist dramas since she isn't exactly a liuliang. Her visuals plus natural talent for acting since childhood is a rare commodity and the industry probably can recognise it, she will get opportunities considering that she's a good crier and emotes better than Esther/TXW/Churan/Zhouye/a lot of the 90-95ers, plus she's babyfaced enough to take costume roles from the 00ers who are either not as good at acting or unsuitable for costume roles (WenQi, Zhang Zifeng, Angel Zhao, Li Gengxi, the top 00ers are mostly suited for modern roles). So I do think she's very competitive despite her break.

She does, Cdramaland is undergoing an Ice Age currently due to the economic downturn and rise of vertical minidramas, many actors have been jobless in the meantime with no dramas to film. It's really not easy to get good roles currently and the industry is so competitive, she has to make the most out of her acting skills and visuals while she's still young so I think she'll rather earn less than not film.

Something of his fan actually, I don't really see why age is such a big deal although I understand why he may have changed it because he entered the entertainment industry quite late. He's worked his ass off though (iirc he used to be a chef before starting a street band), and he deserves all his success.
