In the book she doesn't fall in love with XW until around 85% into the story? She gets kidnapped by a Heavenly Cult that XW was linked to, then he comes to save her and she says it was better to get kidnapped out of the city and escape XW's control lol. He gets captured too and they pretend to be a couple, sharing a bed/bathtub/room and end up doing some intimate stuff bc Xiewei loses control and forces her. But he also takes a blow for her in their escape so she forgives him and falls in love. This is very very late in the story though, she basically spends a lot of the novel in love with ZZ and Xiewei is jealous and tries to force himself on the FL but she rejects him due to her old memories of him being cruel.

After the whole kidnapping ordeal, JXN was touched that he risked his life to save her, forgave him and fell for him? Pretty much like he kept forcing the issue and she was Stockholm Syndromed a bit during their time as a fake couple since they did everything a man & wife would do. The book was like "it was the first time XW held her tenderly in his arms, even though they frequently did much more intimate acts whilst in captivity". She just kinda submitted to his will ðŸ˜
