- they weakened Xiangliu's loveline 😭😭😭 he is supposed to feed her blood from his tongue 🤬 also because his blood is poisonous due to all her lovely concoctions in the book he sucked all the poison out whenever he fed her blood (that part can be cut lol it's unnecessarily troublesome). He also hugs her to sleep every night for 37 years to keep her warm and talks to her, and Xiaoyao can hear him because she's awake but unconcious. She hears all his stories for 37 years i hope they don't cut that 🙏🙏

Well it's all conjecture and most celebs will do whatever it takes to get a top role. Thing is Tushan Jing/Ye Shiqi is only a side character and is less popular than Cangxuan and Xiangliu in the book because he is seen as weak and unable to protect Xiaoyao all yhe time so it's almost impossible to cast anyone popular as Tushan Jing when most 2nd tier liuliangs will either wanna play Xiangliu or Cangxuan if they wanna be in a reverse harem led by Yangzi at all (top liuliangs won't, they prefer 1v1 romances or male-centric dramas). But Dengwei's portrayal is definitely reversing the low popularity of Tushan Jing in the book because his CP with Xiaoyao ranks 1st! He has done a superb job especially acting as the fox spirit male waifu Ye Shiqi, because the book's Ye Shiqi was not so charming and just seemed pitiable.

YZ is perfect for the role and has headlined previous hit dramas like Battle of Changsha, Home with Kids, Ashes of Love, Gogo Squid. Investors were willing to put money into LYF because Yangzi was leading the project. I don't think anyone else would be as convincing and lovable as Xiaoliu. The fact that Yangzi always helps boost her MLs fame is also proven too.

Those claming Xiaozhan or Gongjun can play 2nd ML Jing must realize the 1st ML in the book and novel is Cangxuan and this show is centred on the FL/ML cousins' story. Xiaozhan won't do 2nd ML roles (he rejected doing Joy of Life S2) or be part of a 1FLv4ML reverse harem drama, he is too popular and his fans won't accept it.

When LYF first aired Chinese fans were saying it's great they didn't cast a famous liuliang because they wouldn't agreed to get super dirty as beggar Ye Shiqi because it ruins their image so it's good a less known actor like Dengwei took the role. FYI in the book his role is less popular among the 3 MLs so it was hard to find someone willing and suitable to play Jing but Dengwei is gaining so many new fans and proving that he was the perfect choice. Xiaoyao, Cangxuan, and Xiangliu were also perfectly cast 👏👏👏

Before that Zhang Wanyi was already known to mainstream audiences due to his role as Chen Yannian in Age of Awakening about the early founders of the CCP🧐🤔🙄, he acted so well that Chen Yannian got a new statue because people got inspired by his story. That role shot Zhang Wanyi to fame and got him 1st ML roles like in LYF, if not for Age of Awakening he would still be a nobody in C-ent but now Wanyi is a young actor favoured for non-idol CCTV1/8 dramas like Pla Air Force about commie china military or its history because he has that everyman honest face.

But this page is getting very rowdy with shipping quarrels and people criticising the plot or Xiangliu's tragic end recently, because his bloodsucking scenes went viral on Tiktok, Youtube, Douyin and got people into the show. I love Xiangliu and Tan Jianci but these new drama fans are only in it for his sexy vampire schtick so they are posting toxic comments against the Dengwei and Wanyi's characters, or even criticising Tonghua herself for giving him a bad ending. I'm not sure why they would pick up a show where the vampire is the 3rd ML and rant that he isn't the main character but here we are.

I didn't mean you specifically, on Reddit there was a new drama fan raving about Xiangliu being a sexy vampire who got rude when other users told her that Xiangliu wasn't a vampire but a snake demon. She replied that she doesn't care about Chinese myths and he looks more like a vampire so that's what he is going to look like to Westerners 🙄 I find such Western fans super rude for putting down Chinese culture while supposedly liking the drama. That made me understand that many Xiangliu and YaoLiu shippers only jumped into LYF due to the bloodsucking scenes and not because they read the novel or are normal drama fans, hence they are toxic and hate all the other characters or even the author herself for giving him a tragic end. Yikes.

Glad to see Dengwei has constructive and patient, supportive fans like yourself! Going from a 2nd ML to lead ML is a big jump since he will have to carry the plot and bulk of scrutiny as the 1st ML, and if ratings falter or the drama plot sucks he will be nitpicked or deemed bad. Also as a 2nd ML he will have more opportunities to act in big budget productions than as a 1st ML due to his relatively modest fandom size.

While I hope Dengwei gets lead ML roles, it's really easy to end up with a subpar script or production like Gongjun in Legend of Anle so I hope DW doesn't shirk away from doing good and interesting roles even as a supporting actor, like Tan Jianci.

The whole point of the Tushan Jing character being shown as weak, crippled, with ugly scars all over (except his face LOL thanks dramaland) is to show that Xiaoyao chose Jing despite having better looking and more powerful men she can pick as a princess. Jing is also shown to be insecure over his looks, status, body many times and even his fiancee Yiying was disgusted by his body scars (and Xinyue calls Jing a spoiled piece of jade) so we are meant to find Jing gross even if the actor they found to portray him is cute. Xiaoyao kissing Jing's scars is meant to show that she did not care for his appearances.

I find people who obssess over the vampire trope very mindfucked and annoyingly puerile. Sadly this drama is attracting a truckload of such crazy people who only picked up LYF due to Xiangliu's bloodsucking scenes and don't care about the novel plot, they also insist he is a vampire (HE ISNT) not a snake demon and get upset that he doesn't get the FL or is a side character. Fucking annoying dumbasses.
