yes that's basically what happens. They both hide secrets from each other but end up falling for each other during their mission to defeat the bad side. This actually isn't unusual for a Hidden Identity drama.

just because he had a good life later doesn't mean he didn't have trauma. he had selective memory loss and was having nightmares and bad flashbacks which is classed as trauma. They were portraying him as someone who had trauma from what happened to him at age 7.

Coincidently he doesn't recognise Duk-mi's mother until much later on when it was the right time.

ironically I thought the girl who played Sang Zhi in The First Frost was perfect for young SZ at the time they filmed Hidden Love. She was the right age (13-14) at the time too. I don't know why they deliberately cast an 11 year old girl when she looked nowhere near 14 and as you said, neither did her classmates. It just made seeing her with adult Jiaxu more difficult because his actor always stays the same. It's my only complaint about this drama.

It wasn't about gender role reversals? It was about a matriarchal society where women lead over men, not that women had to do non-traditional roles. All the women were pretty traditional apart from Chuchu.

it has a pretty closed ending, don't feel there was a need for a season 2. If you make it to the end you'll understand why. It remains hilarious throughout and is never sad though

I didn't question really every single action, but there's a limit to what the viewer can digest and let go. When it's more than 10 episodes of the bad decisions there's no way I couldn't question it. It makes it worse when she's actually a 34 year old woman so supposed to much more intelligent and mature than she was at 19 - but it happens the other way round, she returns atleast 3 times yet her decisions get worse each time. Ultimately she learnt nothing and took time travelling into the past for granted. I agree the writers/directors were lazy and didn't see how her decisions contradicted with her aim. Her whole mission was trying to save Sunjae but ironically she WAS why Sunjae got harmed the final time. When she remained back to the village without him, instead of the safest option which was to stay on the train with him I had had enough. It was only because there were 2-3 episodes left by that point which is why I managed to finish it.
I have yet to watch a drama that has time travel and that it actually has any sense. This one didn't make it either…
Marry My Husband, Perfect Marriage Revenge, Twinkling Watermelon are top tier dramas with time travel that fits more in those settings. I think the problem with this drama is that she goes back and forth from present to past several times, and each time it makes less and less sense meaning more plot holes than those other dramas I listed. She also doesn't learn from her mistakes or plan better to make time travel beneficial.
Brilliant review, and you said everything I wanted to say. I don't understand how this can be rated as the best drama ever. I'm not taunting people's choices but just as you said, it's full of clichés and terrible logic like it's a wattpad story from the 2010's. The fact that there was no character development, and no improvement to the plot which steadily gets worse was tragic. Giving it a 6 was even generous of you. Congrats on getting the best rated review here too, it seems many agree with you despite this drama getting a lot of fans hating on you 🎉
