it was the character development that was lacking here. As you said they could have centered her character around doing other things for disabled people, but it's like they forget she was in a wheelchair in the first original timeline. Instead whenever she goes back to the present her character is still fully immersed with Sunjae-ah, even her career lol. she doesn't change one bit from the past timeliness to when she goes back to current time.

I just finished it a week ago and I went into Ep 11 completely unaware...boy did I regret, coz up until Ep 14 it was just so painful watching it go so downhill. It felt completely unnecessary and watching her make bad decisions was a waste of time.

I think you pinpointed why I didn't really like it either (other than the ost which was fire). i might have liked it as a teenager and overlooked it's faults, but in my mid 20's it seems like too much - eventhough fantasy is one of my favourite genres.

I don't expect realisticness, just as you said from the moment she went into the past the first time we knew to throw logical thought out of the window. I love fantasy so I didn't mind that aspect anyway.

where it doesn't work is when it starts to affect how you see the characters and emotions of the drama. Half way through it was FL making stupid decisions (especially the 2nd and 3rd times she went back) and not the time travel that annoyed me.

Can't a romcom be made without adding a complicated serial killer plot??? Like for real, if I wanted that I would just start a drama from the thriller/horror genres. I went into this expecting only a nice romance but felt it was wasted because of this.

yeah and I think you only notice this after the drama 😩 that literally everything he did in his life since high school was to do with her, eventhough he hadn't met her for 8 years by the time of the first episode. A very unhealthy characteristic and completely unrealistic, this is why he remains fictional only lol

also When I Fly Towards You ❤️ not one of the Sang siblings stories but by the same author. I think all are amongst the best dramas so far

I agree on it being depressing but somehow it also feels comforting. It's about FL learning to heal as she's so traumatised. Having such a strong ML definitely helped in this regard.

I think HL was an easier watch because it was so much more lighter (if that works for you) whereas this one is more heavier and has triggering/mature themes. You notice as soon as you start it, even this drama's colour palette was literally only dark colours to fit the emo mood.

The premise and starting had good potential, but as others have said it dipped and became disinteresting later. I was just waiting to finish it half way through eventhough it was only 14 episodes (which is nothing for a Cdrama!)

I also didn't realise she was Jiang Jia from When I Fly Towards You! I must have been blind 🙈

other than reuniting after many years and house sharing, nah. Those are common enough dynamics outside of The First Frost. plus FL in this drama didn't know he liked her back in school, and they end up working together in current time. it's the opposite in TFF

no love triangles, no hard misunderstandings. I think this is why I love this show so much!

your last sentence, exactly. This drama doesn't contain anything too heavy, the story is very simple as you said. that's why it's comforting, because it's just about the friend group having a good time and falling in love.

it's not for everyone, doesn't mean it's overrated. For many it's a comfort drama, and genuinely seems to be one of the better dramas about friendship and young love right now.

I'm binging the 5th daughter's story right now. I would say whilst 4th daughter had the most chemistry in hers, the 5th is definitely way more fun and wild 🤣

in my very subjective opinion I think she's the most beautiful Korean actress. Her face everything it's onscreen is WOW, I could just have a drama of just herself and wouldn't mind. Encounter will probably be the 5th drama of hers I watch, so thabks for letting me know what to expect 😄. I recently watched Full House and really loved her character even if the drama was a bit lame. And yes she looked so beuatiful all the way throughout.

Han Hyo-Joo is gorgeous 😍 and I also simp for Song Hye Kyo ever since watching Descendents (didn't love the drama but loved her so much). Hye Kyo is also one of the few others who kept a vlog

My Sassy Girl is on my list, and I might like her character more there. Thanks for the other suggestions too 😊
I also heard about her vlog on her MDL page, maybe I'll check that out? lol it's not usual that actors do that so it's interesting to see who they are outside of the dramas.

AGREED 😫 I think they just wanted to stretch it out more for the last 2-3 episodes so brought in the highly overdone 2nd lead goes evil cliché. I so wanted him to remain a good character. But they focused on him unnecessarily instead of giving us more time with the leads. For example giving us their long awaited wedding night...that would have been steamy. I also heard rumours that in the novel they have a daughter at the end - would have loved to see that!
I didn't hate the show ending, just think it could have been better.
