Dropping it after Ep 5, the plot outside of the leads just doesn't interest me 😬. Even their comedy cannot save this drama IMO. I think you know quite quickly if you will like this drama or not. The concept is good but execution failed. Giving it a rating of 6.

This seems to be a growing trope in Cdramas where the leads reunite years later after a difficult past relationship. The ML is still obsessed with her years later and still just as in love with her. Seen it in The First Frost, and kind of similarly in Daniel Zhou's other drama Sniper Butterfly. They don't even have another girlfriend in that time, always yearning for FL despite not knowing if they will even ever see her again to make up with her.

I think if you don't like it by Ep 29, which is nearly the end of the drama, then you won't like the rest of it either. The last 2 or so episodes have a climax but most the drama stays pretty much the same tone and pace. I just finished it and unexpectedly really liked majority of it, very little complaint.

Ahh 18 months after it's release I finally got to watching this drama and really liked it, really enjoyed it 😍. It's NOT fully perfect, but it's one of the rare historical/costume dramas that I've found so easy to binge. Almost felt comforting in some way? I like how the romance plot felt like the main storyline and everything else seemed to surround it, not the other way round. 9️⃣ / 🔟 drama

Liking someone from afar doesn't have anything to do with how that translates to an ACTUAL relationship once you start living, eating, sleeping with them. Again, no one knows the dynamics they had with each other behind closed doors.

Why does this reek of blaming one side, particularly a woman who loves her career? You don't know what dynamics they had in their relationship, quit assuming she was the busy working one and he was always the 'worshipping' one.

You're totally right about everything here in that fighting violence with only more violence isn't right. Also the fact that it was adults beating up high schoolers, doesn't really send the right message across. In this respect Study Group where it's kids fighting other kids felt more fitting. But I still took Teach You a Lesson as just being a drama and they didn't mean anything serious with it.

Re. The victim blaming and that they made each of the victims ask for help also felt really weird to me. But I didn't verbalise it until you mentioned it. IMO that was more weird than the above things 😕

I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. Episodes 7, 8, 9 felt like a drag to me, and not as interesting as most of the first half. And then it picked up again with the end of Ep 9 when the evil kid pushes someone off the building. That's the kind of almost-thriller feeling that was missing for I would say a quite a big chunk of the drama.

I also wasn't into the love angle they were pushing between Im Han Rim and Bong Geun Dae. I love a side romance, but this just felt so unnecessary, awkward and forced into the plot, and it really would have made no difference to the story if it wasn't included at all. Im Han Rim also felt like such wasted character potential here, she had an actual role in Ep 3 and then after that just felt like a side kick to Na Hwa Jin.

4 episodes in...love the acting and bond between them, but I think the pacing or tone is just not enthralling enough. I'm glad it's only 12 episodes as that should be more than enough

That's a shame because I also thought it could have been a nice romcom and comedy like Mr Queen. But as you said I've also felt that they do less comedy as it goes on. I don't even mind time travel, but I'm against all the various past lives tropes that this is trying to go ahead with. I'm also just not feeling it with the villain cousin. I might watch Ep 6 and then drop if I still don't love it.

Am I missing something? I'm on Ep 5 and just not feeling enthusiastic to carry on. The starting was great and I enjoyed the comedy, but tbh the plot isn't that great and I can see it becoming predictable 😔

I've just finished it and just took it as they warmed to each other and fell in love. Chi Cheng was obviously attracted to him from the beginning and into his silly behaviour, and Wu Suwei came to warm to him after being the one chased. They also make enough sacrifices for each other. It is very clichéd but I saw where it was coming from. The love and chemistry is what massively pulled it up for me (didn't care much for the plot itself)

I think you must have missed the tag saying hidden agenda and dubious consent 😬 because both were heavily featured in this drama. Yes Wu Suwei didn't start out perfect but neither was Chi Cheng.

I agree about the second half, especially by the last several episodes because it just felt like it dragged. Surely we didn't need to see EVERY business decision made for the club or everything ML and FL did without each other. I was fast forwading a few minutes by those points.

I also liked her cousin (but I have a huge bias for Wang Xingyue so 🙈) and all her close family were also done very believably.

Finally finished it on my second attempt - It is a nice drama but I just thought it was too long. The plot is very straight forward and I didn't think it needed 30 episodes. It could have just as easily been done in around 24 episodes 😬. Particularly the second half for the China plot line, most of Ep 25-29 could have been cut. I gave it a 7/10 because I still thought it was nice/comforting and the wintery vibes in the first half was lovely, but there were too many points in the drama that felt unnecessary (like dragging out their associations with all the side characters and the snooker business)

Besides that the OST song Love and Shine is one of my favourites on my Cdrama playlist ❤️❤️❤️

No I fully get your meaning! I just can't help it if you're highly insulting towards the notion of sexual abuse, harresment and assault. It was your own choice to say things like that, so don't blame others for calling you out?

Actually I never thought she was strongly infatuated with him until he made her admit feelings. If she was then it was completely unknowingly. Everytime they interacted in the beginning (the lunches she felt forced into, the baby shower, etc) were because she thought she had to follow his orders, and because she didn't want to let his sister down (infact she cared more about his sister than she did for him for the whole first part) . I don't think it's that she didn't expect him to love her, but that she didn't have any feelings for him at all at that point. Whereas he was definitely infatuated with her because he was secretly watching her, and always finding ways to make her spend time with him.

Disliking a drama is fine and plenty of people disliked The First Frost, just as you said because the stalking got too much. I myself thought it was just average too. But to call it trash just because you did not like it, and did not understand the mature themes shows a lack of understanding on *your* part. Sexual abuse and harresment is common, yes. It's weird you don't believe that. Sexual abuse victims may also have issues with trust in a relationship. It doesn't mean they are any less 'adult' than people who have healthy communication in a relationship. You downplaying the entire aspect of Wen Yifan being abused makes you seem heavily insensitive and non-empathetic.

Just saw that this drama and Love Has Fireworks are releasing one day apart. PLS SLOW DOWN I'M WAY BEHIND AT THIS PACE. The First Jasmine also released not too long ago 😭

Definitely a very strange drama. Found this to be the strangest drama I've ever watched lol. Not sure what it was trying to be, I liked the dark atmospeheric vibes but sometimes the writing dropped to the point it felt like a comedy?
