Also anything he would do for her when they lived together 👌. Benefits of such a great novel writer. Idk I thought Zhou Wan should have had a little character devopment in that time. She breaks off friendship with ML many times previously, so the final REAL break up seemed less realistic to me. She made development in breaking away from listening to her mother, but still listened to his grandfather. I guess so it depends on perspective! Some might have taken this as reasonable, but I thought it was weak for a 10 year break up (not even 1 year, or 5 years)

Both definitely have their pros and cons. The FL is more receptive to the ML in this one, but the romantic vibes was better done in TFF. Depends which way you prefer.

In addition I think the break ups and misery also made much more sense in L&P and TFF. They dealt with heavy topics such as sexual assault, attempted murder, suicide. The relationships broke because of that. Whereas that wasn't the case here even if she did get kidnapped twice.

It's amusing that you think that anyone who disagrees with you is straight away a TFF fan. Can't take any criticism or illogic against your statement as it doesn't suit your narrative.

I also didn't say you don't think Wen Yifan didn't suffer enough. I meant more on the side that your core understanding of how abuse (particularly sexual abuse) works seems really low. Even as someone who's neutral to TFF, people like you who never understand but still come everywhere to talk about TFF are always annoying.

Comparing this to dramas like Lighter & Princess and The First Frost is baseless because L&P and TFF had much stronger plotlines compared to this one. The romance in those dramas was also a lot more butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of feel. This drama is weakly written and beyond a few well done scenes, not impactful as a whole.

I'm not "coddling" FL so I stopped reading there 🙄. It's people like you who can't fathom why an ABUSE victim might have chosen to leave people she loved in order to protect them. She wanted to protect herself and him too by leaving. That's not the same as creating misunderstandings for the money or leaving only because their relative asked you to.

Yes I agree! If the betrayal depended on something to do with what his father did to her father's business which then led to her father's death, then it would have seemed more believable why she breaks up with Lu Xixiao being the son of that man. But she only broke up with him just because his grandfather asked her to 😬 . Seemed very weak on this basis

TFF is not even my fave drama so not even a fan, but Wen Yifan had much more justifiable cause in her POV to break up with Sang Yan. She faced extensive neglect and abuse at the hands of her Aunt's family and the pedo Uncle. Also when she decided to break up with the ML, that was it. She went for a clean break. She didn't repeatedly make up with him, then break up with him in an endless cycle.

That is what happens in this drama. The FL is indecisive about a lot of things. Her whole reason is because her mother was threatening her with the Grandma's medical bills. Just over 10 EPISODES of her leading ML back and forth over misunderstandings. Yet in the end it just led to sort-of-nothing because she took financial help from him anyway? He helped pay for the hospital bills and also pitched in money for her house mortgage. She didn't have as heavy a reason (like sexual abuse) to just leave him apart from his Grandfather asking her to and her feeling insecure.

They seemed to go through his moods very fast in the current timeline. One half of an episode he was angry and then the next half he seemed yearning after her. I get he was conflicted or whatever, but one part where he coerced her to sleep in his bed with him was weird. But I also think it seemed like she wanted to "help him" or something, she should have just got up and left IMO. I was glad they ran over that part very quickly, and later he said she could go whenever she wanted and she willingly stayed with him

They should have spent more time on the couple and other side couples tbf. That would have made such a better drama. All the politics and sudden deaths just felt so unnecessary. Until Ep 30 it actually felt very decent and enjoyable.

I'm telling you even if you drop it you won't miss much - that really is majority of the whole plot. This is truly a Never-Ending Sadness as both the lead parents will act like this. You've got until the end of Ep 20 to enjoy his family jumping in too 😬 the lighter fun and lovey moments really feel fewer than all the parents toxicity and blackmailing of their children 😔💀

I'm going to watch Ep 21 - 29 just because I've made it this far by fast forwarding some of it, and I've made it to the present timeline in 2026 anyway.

In Ep 3 when they went for a swim in the pool WITH the goldfishes HAHAHA 😆 none of it made sense, not where the water suddenly came from, or why such a shallow area of the pool looked like a huge lake when they went swimming. And of course the goldfishes as their swimming partners 😂

Thank you for sharing this info anyway as I feel it's important people realise you can't just take home goldfishes and put them where you like for the sake of it. I get the drama is fictionalised but this was a real scenario that was portrayed unrealistically for the sake of more romanticism (and it ended up looking more silly than romantic lol)

But yes both parents are evil, her mother is just even worse than his dad if that is possible

Although I don't understand if that was a full reveal, as ML seems to understand but to others it still looks like FL was an adopted daughter by her mother or something. I know things are going to get worse between them though, the break up and 10 year seperation is still to come 😭

The mother in this drama is so horrible and I'm barely 1/4 way through the drama yet. Is this a competition for worst mother in these Cdramas or what? So many of these dramas have awful mothers that makes me so sad for the FL/ML 🙁🙁🙁

Thanks, waiting for that period to happen. So far I love that he made that necklace for her as a 'friend.' He's definitely already into her even if he doesn't realise it 🥰

I think it will be great to still have Tian Xi Wei to continue their story from S1. It could be so romantic if she remembers Xu Qian, or her heart still remembers her feelings even if her mind does not. Personally I dislike it when they switch out one of the lead characters for the next season for no reason. It's not like her character died, she is still alive and well.
