Interesting. I actually heard that the other drama was way too fast paced . Like they cut out many parts from the novel which made it sometimes difficult for the drama to connect. And it was largely thanks to the casts that the drama managed to sustain.

So maybe it's the problem with that drama . Back from the brink is doing well on its own. It's pacing is normal, not too fast and neither dragging.

"Nothing is more important on his mind . He only cares abt our relationship". I laughed so hard when YH said this abt BXS
Tbh i don't think TY was jealous of BXS in that scene. He just doesn't trusts him that's why he didn't let him enter her mind's eye. But the banter that followed was so cute . YH rightfully reproached him saying how is it okay when he lies to her but not when others do.

However on a serious note when TY said "You will bear the consequences for trusting people too easily". Kind of felt it as a foreshadowing. Idk how we are going to deal with the angst 🥺.

This. I wish he didn't kill them . Pretty sure they weren't the only couple whom he killed for failing his test. Man almost ended up killing our OTP too.

But if he keeps helping our leads i might be able overlook his past evil actions

I don't know if it's only me but TY and YH dynamics and their characters right now reminds me of the leads from crash landing on you. Yoon Seri who was abandoned by her mom grew up independent, fiesty ,loves her money, thinks logically and most importantly knows how to protect her man.
And ri Jeong hyuk ,the silent man who doesn't show much but does quietly everything for the girl's comfort. Sometimes even risking his safety.

Some of them are even having problems that the drama is too light-hearted for their liking and isn't filled with angst like the prev one.

Saw a post on youku's community page on YouTube asking which dragon they prefer . Ming Ye (from TTEOM) or our Tianyao.

As expected given the popularity of the drama Ming ye is getting picked by majority. But if you ask me , i will pick Tianyao anyday even if i haven't watched the other drama. TY is seriously becoming one of my fav ml of all time. He doesn't speaks much but has this gentle and caring side that i can't help but swoon over him.

Can't speak of the other drama but BFTB has a very good pacing. ML is not dull , it's just that he is a bit stoic and on the quieter side given his past. Still his micro expressions, when the fl does something unbelievable is a treat to watch. He is just so kind and gentle .
You will be able to watch them fall in real time. Their chemistry is quite natural. Best thing so far abt the drama is that the second male lead is not a third wheeler and almost no misunderstanding between the leads.

It's really annoying to see them ranting everywhere just because they can't move on from that drama.

I love it how protective she is of him and wouldn't think twice before jumping in front of danger if it is meant to harm him.
He does the same although it's subtle.

The flow here actually makes sense but maybe you ff so couldn't get it . No where it seems messy imo and pacing is very good.
Anyways still to clear it out let me give you the summary.
The dragon got cheated on by Suying and she dismembers his body to make an armour for her lover. however she couldn't get his heart protector scale as he threw it away. Somehow it lands on the fl who was abandoned by her parents because she had a weak heart. But that dragon's scale ultimately saved her life.
She grew up in the streets without any food or warm cloth. But then a sect leader felt bad for her and took her to the mountains to make her as a disciple.
Their world has Taoists and Spirits who are at loggerheads. Taoists consider the spirits to be evil and hunt them down.
The fl however was kind to them. For taoists to advance their rank they need spiritual powers after unlocking their mind eye. However the fl who is a disciple of the sect has only mastered the martial arts and didn't manage to unlock her mind eye , thus the lowest ranked disciple.
One day she accidentally frees the prisoned spirits and helps them run away resulting in getting kicked out from her sect.

Thus she decides to visit her friend who stays in Yongzhou. The girl once outside realises things have become too expensive and she needs to make money. she chases after a snake spirit who stole a flame. That spirit had a bounty on him.

The male lead who is now a weak mortal vassal is in search of the heart protector scale. And he finds the fl , kidnaps her and takes her to the village.

There the fl finds out his true identity and he recovers his dragon bones using fl's heart blood. The grandma dies and he tags along with her because he needs her blood to unlock his other body parts.

They reach Yongzhou where fl's friend lives and there they saw the dragon horns being hung above the city gates. So his next task is to retrieve it.

The shadow spirit's story is not confirmed but he has a motive of his own. We will know why he wants a Taoist ×spirit couple

And the other spirit 's stories aren't random either like that of the princess yunxi.
Suying and her lover used to hunt spirits/monsters. So
based on what Suying said ,yunxi the fox spirit took revenge on her by snatching him away.

The leads ended up joining the spirit fight because they were looking after the dragon horns but then got tricked by the shadow spirit.
However that arena had forcefully kept many spirits who got rescued later on because of the leads . And now they are hiding in an underground city made by fl friends who doesn't consider the spirits/monsters to be inferior.

If you pay attention properly, everything makes sense .

I was watching the ost video and there was a brief scene where it seemed like Mushang and the fox spirit slowly fade away (disappear) whole hugging each other . This was all witnessed by our two leads. So i guess Suying will get her karma soon.

Actually i also thought the same but in reality he was more worried abt the fat guy being deceived by her. He knew the rich man loved her but YH only had eyes for his riches. So i guess he didn't want him to go through what happened with him .

Oh now it makes sense why she couldn't ride that wooden stick to yongzhou and had to walk all the way

I was drooling in that scene. Can't believe someone can be this pretty. I love his microexpressions and the way he looks at YH as if she is his whole world..ah!!

He was angry at the fact that they were sold for mere 100 gold taeils when his father treated them so well. Imo his grudge is justified but not for the whole monster community. I mean he won't hate entire humanity just because his uncle betrayed his father . So he should hold the same standard for monsters. I guess this was what xiange trying to teach him

"Does the leg of a dragon get numb too" Can't explain how much I love these two. I swoon everytime they are on screen.
The way she was casually laying on his lap even after Bai Xiaoshang left was so cute.

Also, how often do you see a second male lead ship the OTP so hard . That alone makes this drama unique.

Exactly. I would have understood if the CGI was terrible but it's only few scenes which look weak and others are passable as decent. I find the monsters to be cute too.

I don't know why they are so hell bent on the CGI despite knowing it is a low budget drama. Atleast the story and pacing is good

I don't expect much from xianxia or wuxia anyways when it comes to kissing scenes. Infact this drama delivered above my expectations in that field
