Well that must suck lmaooo. It truly depends on the writing. Most romance are not well written but some, a few, were really good. Some episodes are often more boring that others but there are a few out there I really enjoyed. There's not a world where I don't give my liberation note a 10. TRS was one of them too. FL refusing again and again to be with the king to not lose her freedom (since a concubine can't leave the palace and all) and the second she gives in she regrets it and we actually see it. FL regretting chosing the ML is not common and the story being in the palace makes it so that she can't just leave him, he's the king, she's trapped. I hated that she chose him but having her tell her husband, her lover, on her deathbed "I love you but if you see me in the next life, ignore me" calmed my anger haha. Very feminist of her. I always rate in their respective genre. A 10 in a genre might be an 8 in another. I'll give a 9 to a good action if the action is good, since that's all I expect to see, action. Yet I could enjoy a good thriller more, and rate it an 8 because it might not be the best out there. Comparing genre is too hard.

Agreed. The goofy one get the most attention so that's what they keep producing. I'll enjoy one once in a while if the pacing is good and the writing not aimed at teenagers. Slice of life if well paced do it for me more. My liberation note, when life give you tangerine recently. Or if there is a message I enjoy like the red sleeve which is fully rom but with a FL that has to chose between herself/her freedom or her love for the king and all the restriction that come with it and she choses the later but regrets it for the rest of her life. No happily ever after because sometimes that's not what life is about.
It never baffles me that people are so interested in who slept with who? At what age? At what Time? Is this the…
Yeah I mean, Polanski is a child rapist but who cares right ? He's a great director. Woody Allen groomed his own adoptive daughter but who cares, he's soooo talented <3

It wasn't enough for netflix to order a second season of the writers's new show unfortunately, but yeah there are amazing thrillers out there if you get out of SK. SK do thrillers the best amongst all the genre they do, which says a lot about how bad the other genres feel for me.

It's because I also always guess the killer when it's a known character that not all thrillers do it for me, that's what I liked the most about beyond evil. If the character is not known then the revel is meh

If the killer is not a known character I'm not interested lol, make it someone I know but wouldn't suspect, otherwise it's pointless. Beyond evil was really good but dragged a bit on the second part. It would have been better if it had less episodes. I also didn't suspect the killer so that was a good one for me also but yeah it dragged. The King of pig was more my thing. Kairos was good but not the best at all. Mouse was better for me. didn't see the others

That's the thing though, they gave us two suspects from the start so you think "ok, it's 50/50, not much intrigue here" but they wrote it well enough to make the doubt admissible. It might not have worked on you but it was objectively written very well enough to actually create doubt multiple times throughout the show, with ONLY two suspects. That's what's good with the drama. No the "oh, I wonder who amongst all the cast who is the killer" because we knew from the get go that it was either one or the other. Even when thinking "it'd be too predictable if the doctor is the psycho, it has to be the ML", they write a scene that makes you doubt. The point was to have people who can't fathom that a ML could be the killer doubt themselves and those who know better than to rule out the ML because the other would be to predictable to also doubt themselves Which other k-thrillers have you seen where you couldn't figure out the culprit?
Important to remember that people have different tastes, and what's not your cup of tea is someone else's :)
The action part is not even good though, it's goofy and cartoony. Mercy for none was a great action drama. No plot, just a simple revenge story, I was only there for the action and it delivered. Here it's like they try to make it an action thing but with plot but the plot just doesn't stick, it's not landing. If at least the action scenes were great... Idk, this drama really isn't for him, I can't find a single appeal to it.

You can turn you brain off and still enjoy things that make sense. There is no amount of turning my brain off that can make me sit through an hour and a half of a show that's badly written.

I did, like most, but then they made us doubt again and again which doesn't happen to me often when it comes to thrillers. Once I have my doubts you can throw everything at me and I won't budge, I even dropped Mouse at first because of how obvious it was but picked it up again and well, not disapointed. Are there better thrillers out there? Fore sure. But south koreans? I don't think so.
