Saw a lot of hate for Babi on some other platform and I was so worried for how he would hurt Yumi. Now up to ep…
It's not a minor thing if he thought the best course of action was to literally move away. It's not a minor thing when a lot of people literally cannot have more than one person in their heart and expect the same. Of course you can't control your feelings, it's the one thing you have 0 control on. But he let the trainee be way to close to him for someone in a relationship. There seem to be a pattern with Babi's way of acting around women (cf how he used to be around Yumi in S1 even though she's in a relationship at the time).
"I love you, but there is this younger girl who confessed and it swayed me so much that I had to sell my house to not see her again. To for her, or for you, but for me." It's not a child thing or a 16yo tantrum to not be okay with any of it. It has nothing to do with age or maturity and everything to do with bounderies. If you're okay with your SO being swayed by other women, understand that it's a deal breaker for others. She takes him back eventually, don't worry!
I think I'm a bit more Team Wung just because I feel like we don't know Babi enough, he has a strong and interesting…
Exactly! Because we don't see his cells and the last time we did they lied to Yumi (about when he realised he fell for her), again, then all I see from him is how much of a manipulator who's smooth with his words he is. Even Woong's cell said it so themselves. He's in marketing, he's a good talker, you can't win in a fight of words. He's too suspicious, he's the kind of guy you one day wake up and realise he lied about everything from the start.
lmaooo I really don't like Babi anymore, the spell is broken for me, I have 0 trust in him.
They created this fake tension throughout the episode to reveal the quiproquo then marriage proposal but from my POV as a viewer, all I saw was Babi being sus and a liar, again. It made me even more warry of him. Had they just went with the full love relationship like before, even if after a breakup it's not credible, I could have been swayed again, maybe. But the way the episode was constructed, I was just warry of him the entire time, waiting for the cheating, the lies, the breakup. The marriage proposal is the last thing I thought I would see. He's so sus, I can't explain it. The fact that we don't see his cells and when we do they lie to Yumi might be why. Does he burst into flames if he stops lying for a second?
I'm team Woong (a titanic ship at this point, but it's fine) but I liked Babi before the emotional cheating, I wouldn't have minded the marriage before it, I think.
I'm a bit mad because where some people didn't like the breakup and its reason for it, I thought it was very realistic. And the getting back together is also very realistic, people get back together all the time. But they also don't. And I didn't want her to go back to him. I wanted her to be smart. The sensitive cell deserves to be exiled, she always ruins everything lol. They didn't even talked about the break up, the why, the how they have to avoid that every happening again and homeboy straight up proposes after a week and a half back together? I hope it'll scare her off, but since she decided to be stupid.... maybe i'll happend. He lied and her first thought went to the trainee girl being in his appartment, lol, Yumi is not over the emotional cheating and she would be so dumb to accept the proposal.
I still believe that Woong broke up with Yumi because he was not financially stable and was hoemless and didn't want to be a burden to her. Which makes him a better choice than Babi the liar.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the attention Babi gave the trainee is not too far from the one he gave Yumi in S1 (while she was still in a relationship mind you). There seem to be a pattern which is why I think he didn't tell Yumi when he realised he liked her. It's possible the answer lies in an interaction that he also had with the trainee and that Yumi could know about (like giving her his vest when she was cold or something). Regardless, he let the trainee too much acces to him for someone in a relationship and I hate the way some of you are gaslighting us for understanding Yumi T_T It's not about being mature or not mature or young or old. Some people have boundaries. Moving away is a drastic decision to make for something that some of you see as a small thing. It certainly was not small for him.
I feel like this season is a bit rushed, especially eps 9 and 10. They didn't really bother exploring Ba-Bi's…
Maybe the breakup felt rush because there was nothing that lead to it. As far as babi was concerned there was no break up so no building here. And same for Yumi. The breakup happend fast because the news that he got swayed happend fast. It's not like in S1 where they could feel that something was a bit off with each other you know. Here there was a hidden secret that was revealed that led to the immediat break up. If you catch you BF cheating (not saying it happend, it's an exemple), there is not build up, you just dump him.
"They didn't really bother exploring Ba-Bi's cells in depth the way they did Woong's cells in S1 and even in S2, infact" It's true, and it might come from two things : one, they read comments of viewers about how boring it was for them, or they knew Babi would not be end game and didn't want to spend too much time on it. With the same amount of episode, including a relationship + a break up + a love triangle requires to make sacrifices regarding what they can or can't show compared to S1.
"Are we to assume that after she left Jeju, Babi didn't contact her again? That he didn't try to win her back and that she didn't waver? The whole thing felt very abrupt." I wondered the same, and I was hoping they would expend on this in the next episode through flashbacks maybe (or maybe she just blocked his number and since he was not in seoul he couldn't contact her).
In anyway I agree with you, because S1 was only focus on one relationship they took their time. I read there was suppose to be a S3 but now there isn't, maybe that's why it was rushed.
OMFG. I want to punch Yumi in the neck. I get it, being upset because you know that your guy was swayed a little…
Some people are not confortable with the idea that their SO CAN be swayed by another woman. When you love someone you expected them to only have feeling for you and that's normal. Of course Babi can't control his feelings so I don't really blame him but Yumi got cheated on before, she's protecting herself, and she's right to do so. Especially when Babi thought of that "swaying" as important enough that he should literally sell his house to not be tempted or whatever.
I agree with your sentiments but I do think that the shows structure was meant to be like that from the start.…
Disagree on the last part which is why I'm dropping it haha
But yeah it was meant to be this way as you say but I found it stupid. It's lazy writting. If you're gonna put money in a production with actors that are not that cheap I assume, to have something well constructed is better than doing that imo
Ugh, I really wanted to like this show... The "reveal" was obvious since 3 episodes ago so whatever suspen they tried to create kind of fell and it just felt like dragging. It's obvious that they both got kidnapped but only DH got away. Logically, the mother/grand-ma combo killed the guy that tried to hurt their daughter and in trying to covering it could never truly disclose what happend to GY's little sister without them admitting what they did. Now in some fake suspens dramas, they love to foreshadow fake things, making you believe one thing serious and then reveal another thing entirely different that is waaaay less serious like "You though I KILLED a guy???? no!!! no, I killed a bird ! And like I said, it gets easier the second time around". It's a lazy way to trick the viewer imo. Considering how they are talking about it so casually around everyone, I assume it will go in that direction? (a bit just like that ambiance of the whole neighborhood being accomplice of something horrible in the beginning of the show, but in the end it will probably be nothing)
I find the "serious" tone of the backstory not matching the bubbly tone of the love story. It's like they tried to combine two dramas together. One scene it's like let's be cute and the next one you have that fake suspens thing going on with that stalker guy who shows up as if he was the mayor of the fck neighborhood. The way they are handling the fact that DH is being stalked by a literal psycho is so weird. The dude comes and goes whoever he wants, nobody stops him, he just pops up to create drama and they leaves like nothing, just because he's the plot reveal holder, it's annoying. Also everytime he's with Gye Hoon, GH always ends up silently crying. It's a small thing but EVERY interaction, he's hissing while tears are quietly rolling. It feels like I'm watching the same scene over and over again, same "crazy eyes" stalker guy laughing at him, same silent cry reaction, every episode, over and over again. So now we just have a loop of love, bad suspens, love bad suspens, stalker guy gets away, love, bad suspens over and over again... To each their own, but I can't understand the rating honestly. Not when there are some dramas that are waaay better out there (sorry, it's hard not to compare).
Of course the famous 2/3 of the drama break up will happen next episode lol
The link thing is getting less and less screen time. It feels like the letters in Start-up that carried the plot then never talked about again. It's the name of the show, I hope we'll at least have an explanation for it. I'm only watching because my mondays and tuesdays are boring right now, but overall I'm disapointed, I expected something else from this drama.
Mudeok (not Naksu) being able to open the Jin family temple or whatever looks like foreshadowing. They have a daughter who went missing no? Could be her.
Me being team Woong from day 1 is very happy to see him come back hehehe. Honestly, I think he broke up with her because he felt like he didn't deserve her and she didn't deserve to be with a homeless and broke man. There is no other reasonable reason for what he did. I mean, she was his number one priority, what can someone do for love ?
As for Babi, I love him so much and imo he didn't do her dirty AT ALL, but I still 100% undersyand Yumi. You can't control how you feel. It's the one thing no one has any control on. He tried to step away from whatever "feelings" he had, that was the smart move. That was him saying "okay, I feel this way, but I don't like that and won't jeopardize my relationship for it, so this is what I will do". He couldn't obviously tell her the real reason he moved away, like imagine the conversation "there is this girl, who is not here anymore but she swayed me a bit even though I shouldn't since she's not you, so I hated it and decided to move away because I love you" like... Yumi is entitled to her feelings too and it's okay for her to not be okay with how HE felt. Some people don't even see other people when in love, it's not wrong to expect the same from their SO. To be aware that there is enough room in your SO's heart to be swayed by other women... Like yeah nothing happend but it could have, since his heart doesn't seem to fully belong to her; and considering she got cheated on before, it's logical for her to not be okay with the situation.
I don't know is this has been discussed but I think Babi realised he liked Yumi when he gave her his vest which would have been bad to admit right after he gave his vest to the trainee girl.
In any case, both of them are goal, both of them want her, and though I usually hate love triangle, I'm rooting for both of them, make it make sense.
If there is a season 2 these are definetly things that would need to be explained, but if it's the only season…
Seriously, they could have gone with a cliff-hanger but chose the safety of 'ending things well in case there is no season 2 but still add some mystery that end up looking like something we will not talk about, in case of a season2' I don't like how they handled that. You can't have both a "no season 2 ending" and a "season 2 ending" at the same time.
First of all, I will not apologize for the typos, it's late, go to sleep.
I feel like the ending was made in a way that allow them to have a second season (all the plot hole of this episode really) and also in a way that they still close the show in case no season 2 (P being head of the minor family, both couple being happy together at the end blablabla). So no cliff-hanger which is a shame because to end the show so casually with all the plot holes is not a good move imo. It looks like they are discarding things that need to be explained as “not important enough to create a suspens around it but important enough that we introduce them in case of a season 2”. It looks like lazy writing like “surprise, plot twist, but that's not important, what's important is : happy ending”. It came out of nowhere.
The writing has been bad for a while but I had hope for the last episode...
I did not read the novel but regardless, Porsche being head of the minor family is so stupid. He's not remotly qualified for it. Going after Vegas for what he did with Kinn's ex but then letting him go when he barged in with guns to kill the main family (killing so many people of the staff in the making) made 0 sense. "it's fine, let him go" ?? so he can kill all the people who’ve been loyal af to you and your family with no consequences even though his a traitor x2 ? ok mafia boss I like Vegas/Pete but they haven't been an item for long enough for Pete to literally thow his LOYALTY away. At the beginning of the show they acted like being a bodyguard is a life thing and no one can get out of it for safety reasons and then Pete can just resign? "Thanks, but I'm leaving with the traitor if you don't mind" ??? Dude knows the whole security of the main family, how it's run and all and it's okay to let him go with the traitor of the family ?? ok mafia boss lool btw, pete killed a bodyguard who tried to do his job but it's chill, we call him and get news from him apparently (but i love him though).
Porchay and Kim please, this is ridiculous, they've been in the same room like what ? 5 times in total ? The way they tried so hard with this relationship, very weird. The age gap? please.
You know the funniest part of this ending? Porsche disregarding ALL the lies Korn told. Dude was like "Here's the truth. Actually that’s a lie! Here's the real truth though. Haha kidding.... Not but for real, here's the truth. Fool you once, shame on me; fool you twice, shame on you... are you dense ? No but really, here's the truth. Or is it ?? Oh and surprise, your mom's not dead hahahahahaha" what the fckkkkk ??? How stupid must you be to stick around? Get your brother away from these people!
Seriously, Korn faking his death, what was that? it lead to so many death and for what ?? he knew the minor would come for the main, what was the point ? If it was to resolve a mystery or something, like why not, but everything was predictable, not a single person doubted on what the minor would do. Was it to reveal the mom? Was it to give him a reason to kill Gun to reveal the mom? what was the reason? He faked is death and no one even questionned him for it, everyone just moved on... well.
Overall, no one can deny the quality of the filming though. It was expensive, one can tell. Which means it was pleasant to watch and every actor (except Porchay, sorry) did an absolute killing job. They were very very very good. You can tell everyone worked hard and apart from the plot, everyone delivered. One thing I have to say is, all that budget and they still couldn't make the bodyguard look badass. They seem so undertrained. Since they decided to not go with realism in the show, they could have at least have the bodyguards to be as impressive as the ones from hollywood productions haha
So are we not gonna talk about Korn faking his own death, lied to his children and Porsche, planted the lie that…
If there is a season 2 these are definetly things that would need to be explained, but if it's the only season then yeah, many plot holes and lazy writting. I mean the number of time Korn lied to them, it was lie after lie after lie but then in the end Porsche is like "Ok, I believe you, and I accept to work for the minor family even though you're a lying liar" ???
Gonna say something that's likely gonna get me shot, but it's left a really bitter taste.I didn't love Porsche's…
Agreed! He treated the whole think like a loyalty declaration from a bodyguard and not the confession of his lover. He took but didn't give back, too used to receive perfect devotion. "I shall give you my life, my lord" "Thank you my knight" is all I saw lmao.
I like the originality of this drama, I'm actually really enjoying myself watching it! It's nice considering the poor quality of the latestes released drama. I love korean period dramas when the story is good so I'm happy to see all the costumes too. The actors are really good and all main characters lovable so far. I hope the storyline won't be ruined. We obivously have questions about the soul swap and the details of it considering how it was done with the Late king, I hope the answers will be satisfying and not plot armor
"Because SK is very anti-communist, I'm less sold on the whole fck capitalism, revolution and all that the spanish…
"Actually, it's when a far-right country produces a work of far-left, is exactly when you can appreciate the tones of revolution and rebellion. Or else, it's just pandering and propaganda." There has to have so sparks of anti-system behaviour in the society itself first for this to be true though, which is not necessarily the case in SK. I'm mostly talking about the fact that for exemple everyone in the original was rooting for them, I don't see this happening in SK. Or maybe I'm not as aware as I am, but when it comes to protesting and going against the system in place, SKoreans don't seem to be doing as much as Spain for exemple which is why the whole revolutionary thing was better sold to me (also because of spain's history, like I said).
"Netflix, instead, decided to deliver THIS." It's BECAUSE it's in SK that they hold themselves on these issues, the plot was written by korean writters, which is why I said what I said. It's never going to give as well as the spanish version because there is no issue for representation of homosexuality or homoromantic relationships or feminism in spain.
"I love you, but there is this younger girl who confessed and it swayed me so much that I had to sell my house to not see her again. To for her, or for you, but for me."

If you're okay with your SO being swayed by other women, understand that it's a deal breaker for others. She takes him back eventually, don't worry!
