Okay just finished ep 18, I feel like I'm missing something, so at the end of the episode Xiang Liu says that the FL lied to him, that she had nobody to rely on, when she did. But why did the FL say that in the first place and why didn't she tell Cang Xuan that she was his sister, Ican't recall her reason for hiding it. And to be fair the FL was an abandoned person and had gone through a lot and Xiang Liu knows that so I'm not sure why he's acting all pissy
Her transforming into a girl again inside a giant petal is so Barbie movie coded, it looks Barbie Fairytopia!! Ngl I can be kind of shallow with dramas, I really want to see the FL wear pretty outfits and just be a pretty princess
yeah! I started ep 1, then i saw edits of people saying they might be brothers and I've dropped it for now, I can't deal with that emotional whiplash lol
It’s because of plagiarism. So other dramas just to be like it but never be like it. They don’t want to be…
Understandable, I'm not really xianxia fan either but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone, and I do enjoy angst so I felt as if I'm skipping a major genre from emotional angst
Tushan Jing reminds me so much of the second male lead in Story of Minglan, the Duke. He obviously cares about the FL but he lacks the conviction to be able to clear a path and choose her and only her, there is a ruthlessness he needs to possess - this what Gu Tingye had and why he was able to marry Minglan even though he had such a turbulent background. Because of everything tying Tushan Jing down, he can't meet the FL face to face. He's sweet and all but so far (ep 17) he is not the right man for her

Yknow what I did start that drama like last year, but then I heard the ML was in a lot of mess (as in attempted murder) so it soured my impression of the drama, but I do think I want to try it again someday. I settled on Lost you forever, I don't know if you've seen it? Its very character driven so I'm aware its an acquired taste
When I was watching these episodes, the one character which strike my mind again and again is tyrion lannister…
This is an insane connection, I'm a big fantasy fan! Tbh I've been eyeing this show but I wasn't sure if I should start it because I've found kdramas uninteresting lately, but I'll have to give ep 1 a watch!
Are they just chatting and chilling? There's a lot going on in those scenes. Those stories XY tells are important…
Again very insightful. Did you write an essay after finishing this drama? As I'm watching I'm making notes, and I'm also aware the drama is 60+ eps so I haven't even scratched the surface of the story it wants to tell.
I agree with you about the emotional violence. The FL doesn't seem that disturbed by the violence done to her, however if she feels an emotional wrong has been done, for example when Tushan Jing (still learning the names, but the guy she saves) when he wasn't there for her when the other ML came with his sister to get the antidote, she was very affected by that and froze him out a lot, especially as he promised to always be there for her and he broke that promise.
The blood sucking stuff did take me off guard but I do enjoy vampires, Interview with a vampire is one of my favourite tv shows and I haven't seen any cdramas featuring vampires before.
Overall I'm really liking the pace of the story, it isn't fast so it allows you to settle into the world and its characters. I also enjoy character driven stories as well, and I have so many questions. Because I remember they said the FL was supposed to go with the Grandma, the Empress Dowager, so I was wondering how she ended up in the snake's lair in the first place...

Hmm this does give me a lot to think about. It did make me feel uncomfortable, especially with how inconsistent he is with his actions. I do think he is abusive and there does exist a power balance between him and the FL as well as issues of consent. He will just grab her neck and start biting her. The dynamic sort of reminds me of toxic BL manhwas that have dubious consent and abuse and are sort of layered in complexity. But I did find his behaviour quite absurd.
I also appreciate your point that he is not a man, and technically the FL isnt "just a woman either" being an immortal/deity, it does make me look at the way she and others behave very differently.
But will keep what you said in mind the next time he knocks her off a tree 😂
Okay im on like ep 8 of LYF, Xiang Liu is always hurting the FL, whipping her, knocking her off a tree and breaking her leg, causing her to split blood and have nosebleeds. Like is he well???? They'll be chatting and chilling then he will knock her of the tree. Like WHAT crazy man
And to be fair the FL was an abandoned person and had gone through a lot and Xiang Liu knows that so I'm not sure why he's acting all pissy
