Kimutaku, Kazama Shunsuke (JE) and Matsuda Ryuhei are also known playing such character effortlessly. Still plenty of these actors, mostly thespians (yes, they are a bit rare but still abound in movie scenes in any country), who has that capability

Impressive review, buddy. This guy is underrated, should he has better projects, he would be up there with Eita, Tsumabuki, Yamada, and some others. BTW I watched Party wa Owatta last year and I'd say his performance is fantastic. His chemistry with the female lead is very natural, and his part in the drama is all about chemistry.

Watch this show to see Umika's acting, as well as chubby Takemi Fujii's and Yamaya's

I really want to watch Umechan-sensei, too bad no one willing to sub this. Responses to her acting in the asadora is good, a netter even said she's now a force to reckon with.

BTW, perhaps you will bash me for my comment, but IMHO prior to Umechan, only in Hana Kimi her performance passed my bar. I watched Teppan Akane and Seito Shokun (she was very young back then) and not convinced that she was THAT good. A lot of actresses in her generation are more talented than her. Anyway, love to see if she improves a lot and I hope she will get more meaty roles in near future

Yeah, they said Jikou Keisatsu is not a drama everyone can take, but strangely I find it extremely funny especially the second season. The writer, Satoshi Miki, quickly won my heart and become my favorite scriptwriter. I think you gotta try this one as well :)

So do I, 30 minutes dramas are usually very effective in story telling

For god's sake, how come you put an actor who overacts most of the lines in the top #1 list? A lot of idol guys are better than him: Ninomiya, Nagase, Okada of V6, Kusanagi, Kimutaku, Masuda from AKTB, Eripon from E-girls' Flower, and some others. However, I agree with you, 90++% idols who takes part in dramas/movies must go back to acting school to hone their skills

Oddly, I find this lad never improves significantly in acting skills. Many actors grow up over time from relatively poor, inexperienced, to more mature and better-skilled ones. This guy is different. Well, young Miura was weak in nonverbal skills and acting range, and strangely this has NEVER been rectified, at least by now, perhaps due to lack of talent or "refusal" to learn something new (something that plagued a number of Japanese idol-actors), or even both. God knows what actually happens to him

Pardon my words, but in my opinion Korean Dramas are more popular because we do not need to use brain as much as you have to do to watch J-dramas. They just remove the logic and let loose. That's why it becomes so contagious. Combined to improved presentation (compared to previous 90s and early 00s K-dramas) and using the very same formula regardless themes, they are just pretty much unstoppable, in terms of viewership.

I'm waiting for better written, more realistic K-dramas. There are ample good Korean actors and actresses (as far I see in K-MOVIE), but the poor script and relatively campy plot deter many of these talented actors to do dramas (the same thing happens in J-ent scene). I enjoy What Happened in Bali for its high technical merit, and I wonder why they've never made drama with that quality ever since.
