talented brilliant incredible amazing show stopping spectacular actor the only character to keep me going in vincenzo…
true I cared for him more than for the leads. He had the best character arc on Vincenzo.

He caught my eye when I first watched him in Love in the Moonlight . And he did a great job in Vincenzo. Promising…
he was the best in Vincenzo.

What I think i'm finding is that some dramas have a strong appeal in the short term, but in order to make it to…
that's a fantastic idea! Dew it!

agreed. those kind of platforms would be great.

It's interesting that oldies but goodies keep higher rating than newer dramas despite new ones having recency bias. Perhaps a sign that oldies were indeed better than what's made now?

Thank you for the enjoyable and interesting article! I often have questions about the rating because many times…
People don't know how to rate. They give a drama much higher numbered ratings than what their reviews suggest. I've seen a lot of reviews that are one big complaint yet rating is shockingly 9. They say, for example, "FL was obnoxious and I didn't buy her as a tough assassin at all", "OTP had no chemsitry" yet Acting got rated 10! They say "the story dragged, they lost me by the end, this wasn't the same drama that I started to watch, it was just stupid" yet Story is rated - you guessed it - 10!

This isn't just MDL problem. RT reviews from professional critics suffer too. You have Fresh rated reviews that read like Rotten. It's as if a critic was afraid to submit their review as Rotten (Marvel fans would send them death threats wink wink). I have a feeling the same thing happens on MDL. Reviewer doesn't want to be a party pooper so higher rating, but also wants to vent grievances hence discrepancy between not-so-positive review and overly-positive rating.

oh, I had a different take on Navillera. For me it was good, but it would be even an amazing character driven…
I didn't mind SJK's Italian as much as I minded headless ballet. Also, I honestly don't think that Song Kang was irreplacable in that role. Any ballet dancer that appeared on this drama could have done the same job. Buff body? check. Pretty face? check. Pouting? Can't be that hard.

Extracurricular and BORING, I mean I would understand if you said it was dark, disturbing, characters had no sense…
I was bored out of my mind. The section where he was looking for his phone for several episodes and was doing back and fort over it with the evil-eyed FL was duuuuull. Also any part with the policewoman. Kim Yeo Jin was wasted considering she was one of Vincenzo MVPs (destroyed try-hard FL in effortless comedy department).
On top of that, I can't stand Park Hyuk Kwon. I skip his scenes in Mine. I also skipped his scenes in A Secret Love Affair.

and if they cast actors who could actually dance like Kim Seol Jin (Vincenzo). Navillera was bogged down by ridiculous "headless" dancing designed to hide that actors didn't perform even the most basic dancing. It was ugly. What's the point of making a ballet drama without actors who have ballet or contemporaty dance background? Vincenzo dance scenes (protest perforamnce, dance for the duped American couple) were fantastic.

Great idea for a thread!

Dropped:

Navillera. Too boring, too stupid and content that could fill a 2 hr movie nicely was unreasonably stretched to 12 episodes. Peeked at the last episode (to get it out of "Continue to Watch" Netflix queque and to stop Netflix from sending me reminders to resume it) and it was the stupidest of the whole thing. Dodged a big bullet here.

Love Ft Marriage and Divorce. Not a single likable character (young hubby comes the closest but he's more pathetic than sympathetic), I wanted to punch everyone so that one was dropped. let the last episode run while doing chores (same reason as above).

Extracurricular. This thing had 10 ep and I survived 8 and couldn't go on anymore. Boring, characters that were so hatable I wished them all dead. I figured I was actually hate-watching because it was an acclaimed drama that I found overrated beyond reason so I stopped the self-torture and gave it a DROP!

Descendants of the Sun. On paper, this was written for me - drama centered around special forces starring SJK who is one of my faves. In practice, this was beyond tedious thanks to dull as a dishwasher romance. Since this is on Viki, I dropped it without having to resume the last episode.

King: The Eternal Monarch. Dropped it after 2.5 episodes. Worst drama I've ever seen. I honestly thought I would end up in coma if I continued. Had to chore the last episode cause Netflix.

Dropped but then resumed

Uncanny Counter - I loved first 4 or 5 episodes and then politics took the spotlight away from evil spirit hunting. I had to drop. But I loved the cast so I had to know what happened to them. I resumed. It was pretty rough and I disliked some creative ideas (swaping Hawt Shin with Mayor was a terrible mistake) but at least we got Shirtless Shin in the finale so that compensated. :)
