OK, so her statement is a massive damage control. It's obvious that she was let go because she didn't deliver but they gave her a way to save her face by saying she quit instead of admitting she was fired. Absolutely no one quits their first leading role. So yeah, total BS.
Since pure romance (not romance mixed with other genres) is not my thing, I have seen only very few of these. I really loved CLOY because it had that epic scope that I adore and NK parts were flat out fantastic. Also Hyun Bin's manly beauty is a great respite from pretty boy type that dominates dramas.
I also liked My ID Is Gangnam Beauty which is interesting because this drama is slow burn yet it engaged me because it was well paced and peaked at the right time delivering a finale that was on point and highly satisfying. It also introduced me to Cha Eun Woo's aka the most beautiful man in the world (for once rumors were true!) and Kwak Dong Yeon who blossomed in Vincenzo as the drama's MVP (and also so hot and what an acting range!) .
Because of CLOY, I wanted to watch a drama with the military setting cause nothing is hotter than men in uniform. sadly, Descendants of the Sun was unbearably boring due to romance. Even SJK whom I love couldn't save it. I know it was a massive hit in Korea but I've learned that my taste usually defers from Korea's so that's that ha ha ha.
I watched True Beauty which had a promising start (awkward first episode aside) but it quickly lost any dramatic tension and was 8 episodes too long. Love triangle was also garbage cause there wasn't any realistically yet the drama didn't know what to do with its breakout star Hwang Im Yeop, the real reason why people watched and gave this overlong mess a pass til the finale, so they kept him around as the third wheel even though it was way obvious who the endgame was.
Sungkynkwan Scandal is good for SJK/YAI shippers. The boys have such romantic chemistry you had to root for the drama to go full BL (not that it did sob). Skip the het couple.
Boys Over Flowers is a romance classic so I watched...parts of it. It's too long (20 episodes c'mon, lah!) and as is always the case with overlong romantic dramas, nothing ever happens, just lots of recycled angst over nothing.

This is what Extracurricular should have been. I still cannot understand why they made a drama about sex trafficking without sex. Big point is how everything works not just setting up but what happens after because if you want a cautionary tale, you have to show uncomfortable part. That's what Naked Director does. It shows everything including the absurdity of this particular business as well as ugly side.
Drama that made me step out of my comfort zone is J drama Naked Director. I like sex in movies and dramas but not porn. However, this is a drama about porn business and is really graphic, like one step away from XXX so we can safely say 19+. And it's insanely entertaining. I'm so hooked I burned through season 1 in 2 days. It turned porn from ewwww gross to super fun hilarity.
